93-year-old Holocaust survivor wants AOC out of congress, given 'Nobel Prize in stupidity' for concentration camp comments.

CALEB HOWE
While Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and her friends in the media, are quintupling down on comparing American detention facilities to concentration camps, a survivor of the real concentration camps in Nazi Germany is livid, and speaking out.

Ed Mosberg is 93 years old, and is one of the few people still alive who survived the Nazi camps. He lives in Morris Plains, NJ, and he spoke to the New York Post about the freshman congresswoman's comments.

"She should be removed from Congress. She's spreading anti-Semitism, hatred and stupidity," he said to the paper. "The people on the border aren't forced to be there — they go there on their own will. If someone doesn't know the difference, either they're playing stupid or they just don't care."
The thing this person who survived some horrific stuff doesn't understand is that the conditions these people are being subjected to would be against the Geneva Accords. These people are seeking asylum and the administration is quite fine with committing acts that dehumanize these people. Sure, the Trump Admin aren't Nazis, but once again, the US used "concentration camps" in WWI (Germans) and WWII (Japanese). And both of those (of those that also know of the prior) are considered ethically bankrupt actions by the Government.

No one should have to endure what the victims of the Holocaust endured. But nor should others have to endure what the Germans and Japanese did in the US in the first half of the 20th century. What the Nazis did isn't the basis for what is considered morally reprehensible.

Even if he is right, it is irrelevant. Even if Japanese internment camps were referred to as "concentration camps" contemporaneously, since the Nazi atrocities became known, that term was forever linked with Nazi camps.
AOC is deliberately using that term because of its Nazi connections. She knows full well what she is doing, no matter the technicalities.

Derec is right. Since WW2 we can no longer use the term "concentration camp" to refer to anything other than a Nazi extermination camp. But that frees up the term "death camp" for use, since the new meaning of "concentration camp" makes it redundant. So, we should adjust our nomenclature, and call these modern not-concentration-camps "death camps". Thanks for the heads up, Derec.

Just because the POTUS's daughter converted to Judaism and just because they don't wear armbands or swastikas (yet) doesn't mean they aren't Nazis. If it walks like a duck and all of that. Except for the name and a few other changes, the story's the same one as Neil Diamond would say.

The right-wing is already using the term death camps. They're using it as a scare tactic trying hard, but in reality they are non-existent FEMA camps not implemented by Democratic Presidents, like Operation Jade Helm or ObamaCare. Next non-existent death camp will be the ones that doctors have to create from Medicare for All implementation...

Democrats need to stop being so tepid and frightened over terminology. AOC is right. She doesn't have to apologize. Republicans have to apologize for what they are doing to children.

Maybe the correct way to respond is "I agree... the Trump Administration isn't being as bad as the Nazis. Congrats!"

She's correct even within the Nazi context. The Nazi camps weren't death camps on day one, it took years, nor were they all death camps.

Not even at the beginning were the concentration camps anything like these detention centers.
Hell, these detention centers are not even like the internment camps for Japanese. Big difference between detaining your citizens just because of their ethnicity and detaining mass migrants (and citizens of other countries like El Salvador or Honduras) who are inundating your border until you can adjudicate their claims (which is going slow because of sheer numbers).

Really? I don't see any difference aside from the absolute shameful inhumanity in separating young children from parents and then caging them and denying them warm beds, clean water, the ability to bathe or be bathed, education, health care, loving human contact.
Yeah, especially when it's been shown that we could house these people at a nice (as in 4-star or better) hotel and save money. As with everything else with the trumpkins, it's all about the cruelty, and the grifting.

ABC NEWS’S JONATHAN KARL: I’m sure you saw the exchange between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on the issue of federal busing — federally mandated busing. Biden thought that was a bad policy; he tried to stop it. Kamala Harris said it was an important part of desegregation, including in her own experience. Where do you stand on that issue of federally mandated busing?

TRUMP: First of all, before we get into that, I thought that she was given too much credit. ... And as far as that, I will tell you in about four weeks, because we’re coming out with a certain policy that’s going to be very interesting and very surprising, I think, to a lot of people. Jennifer, do you have a question?
Don't you worry about blank, I'll worry about blank.

In trying to cover for not knowing what she was talking about... or apparently not knowing what happened in the US in the 60s and 70s... he actually exposes his 'I have a plan coming out on blank' bullshit. Else... yeah, the US would be "very surprised" if he did come out with a plan on busing.

But to be fair to the AOC obsessed... Trump is only a President, Ocasio Cortez is a freshman Representative which means she is in a much higher position of authority.

Yep, he went to his favorite go-to bluff/evasion "coming out in x weeks." He used to mostly say 2 weeks, lately it's 3 weeks or more. Notice also that in the second answer, 4 weeks has suddenly become 2 months. Greatest bullshitter of all time.

If I was Jennifer, I would have asked either: "What part of busing was Sen. Harris taking credit for in that she was bussed to school?" or "Are you saying that your administration is working on a policy to help desegregate the schools decades after they were desegregated?"

No they are not. And besides, it is difficult to organize care for 100,000s of mass migrants who just show up on your border. Especially when politicians like AOC do not want to fund it.

Oh please! It's just jokes.

AOC wants completely open borders to hispanic mass migration. That would be disastrous for US.

Yeah, especially when it's been shown that we could house these people at a nice (as in 4-star or better) hotel and save money. As with everything else with the trumpkins, it's all about the cruelty, and the grifting.
When you have security it ends up costing more. If these mass migrants are put in hotels, they can just walk out and disappear to sanctuary cities where it's very difficult to deport them again.

I have some empathy with the children, but the adults CHOSE to come here and show up at the border uninvited.
And what is her solution? Just open the borders and let anybody in who wants to come in? Ridiculous! She (and AOC) wants us to fuck up US like Merkel did with Germany!

Derec, what is a real concentration camp? Do the British concentration camps of the Boer War qualify? The US ones in the Philippines in the Spanish-American War? The US ones for Japanese-Americans in WWII?

AOC wanted purely humanitarian aid, not the bullshit that Mitch McConnell and his friends added on.

As I keep trying to say, they don't need to be Nazis to be bad people.

As I keep trying to say, they don't need to be bad people to be Nazis.

Most Nazis were not bad people. They were ordinary, decent, law-abiding people, who believed in the maintaining of law and order, and in the importance of respecting and obeying the lawful orders of the police. While they were aware that sometimes the police and other authorities might go a bit too far in restraining criminals, and they understood that the conditions in prisons and detainment centres were often quite unpleasant, they considered this to be quite okay - after all, if someone breaks the law, they should expect bad things to happen to them.

That's Nazism in a nutshell. It mostly doesn't entail killing people, or even mistreating them - it's sufficient that you turn a blind eye to any mistreatment, and consider it an acceptable price to pay for an orderly and lawful society.

Hollywood has done an excellent job of persuading people that Nazis are bad people; Villainous, twisted, and evil. But that's wrong. The truly terrifying fact about Nazis is that they are ordinary. Very, very, ordinary. Ordinary to the point of despising anyone or any activity that's out of the ordinary. Nazis are boring, conventional, decent, and upright members of society, who simply don't care very much what happens to people who make the foolish choice to be different. If people won't respect our laws, our police, and our way of life, then what happens to them is their own fault.

That's Nazism. And it's very subtle, and terrifyingly familiar.

All you need to do is to stop caring about people who are not like you; And start caring more about order, discipline, and law.
