The Race For 2024

Donald Trump
said former Rep. Liz Cheney is a “war hawk” who should be fired upon, as he raged against one of his most prominent intra-party critics while campaigning Thursday night in Arizona.

“She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK?” the former president said at a campaign event in Glendale with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.”

Trump also hurled insults at Cheney, once the third-ranking Republican in House leadership, calling her “very dumb,” a “stupid person” and “the moron.”

Trump’s suggestion that Cheney be fired upon represents an escalation of the violent language he has used to target his political foes. And it comes days before an election in which the former president — who never accepted his 2020 loss — has already undermined public confidence. In recent weeks, he has also suggested a military crackdown on political opponents he has described as “the enemy within.”

Some fodder to help demonstrate the indeterminacy of the race this year. This goes into the average result for Biden/Trump verses the rest of their own party.
article said:
In the 12 presidential battlegrounds, Trump posted a positive VAR in just four states. That means he did better than an average GOP candidate in Iowa (+1.7), Michigan (+0.3), Minnesota (+1.6) and Pennsylvania (+2), but worse than an average GOP statewide candidate in Arizona (-2), Florida (-0.7), Georgia (-3.8), Nevada (-0.8), North Carolina (-0.7), Ohio (-1.4), Texas (-3.2) and Wisconsin (-0.1). Of course, Trump still won four of those states, but his superhero electoral status has some flaws.

Biden was a more valuable asset for his party. He had a positive VAR in 10 of 12 battleground states including Arizona (+1.8), Florida (+1.5), Georgia (+3.5), Michigan (+1.3), Minnesota (+1.3), Nevada (+4.1), North Carolina (+0.3), Ohio (+2.1), Texas (+4.9) and Wisconsin (+0.9). Of course, Biden didn’t win all of those states, but it’s clear why Democratic candidates for the House and Senate weren’t afraid to be endorsed by or seen with their presidential nominee before the election. Biden underperformed an average statewide Democratic candidate in Iowa (-0.8) and Pennsylvania (-0.5).
This is effectively a second term election, so I would expect the Democrat to do worse than they did before. This doesn't mean poorly, but I expect the differential to change. I think Biden got more conservative votes than Harris will get, though in Georgia I feel like that number will go down with maybe a drop in black turnout. Who knows.

The issue at hand is that in 2020, both candidates lagged and were in front of their party in states. This year, we see Harris generally lagging behind the Senate candidates. The question is, is she actually going to catch up in the voting booth or will she remain behind.

My vote is in. Nothing left I can do but have 12 tabs open on the laptop Tuesday evening.

Did anyone else hear that Trump is now threatening to execute Liz Cheney? He said she should be put in a barrel and shot. If anyone else had said that, I'm pretty sure they would be arrested for making a terrorist threat. 😡
That's not what he said. There's no need to exaggerate what he spews.

So much for being the "protector" of women.

She cites and quotes it in the following post, and it is worse than how she paraphrased it.

"Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK?"

I'm pretty certain her security detail was bumped up about 5 minutes after these words went public.
