The Race For 2024

Seems Joe Rogan has come out and endorsed Trump. That is very telling.
Huh? I thought he was a born and bred Trumpsucker. Is anyone surprised? Why?
Despite his reputation as a "right winger", Joe Rogan is not a rabid partisan. He's not that easy to pin down, but he comes across as more of an independent. He endored Bernie Sanders for the 2020 election, who is about as left as Kamala Harris:

No one is surprised when an "independent Libertarian" endorses Trump, those are his people. Anti-establishment, functionally illiterate, flag-waving conspiracy theorists love the guy. It's traditional, trust-the-process Bush Sr type conservatives who are a harder sell.

I'm in Washington state now, and I love the mail-in voting system. We got our ballots last week and filled them out immediately, as we did our research on the downballot races. No standing in lines. No intimidated poll workers. Nobody has to take a day off from work to vote. We get the ballots 18 days in advance. There is plenty of time to decide, visit websites, read the voter pamphlet. Ballots can be mailed postage-free or else put into a drop box. No need to organize polling places and staff them with poll workers. This is the way people should vote. The only problem I have with the system is that you still have to register to vote. That should be automatically granted to all citizens when they reach voting age and can prove legal residence in the state.
That was my experience also. Oregon has had vote by mail for as long as I've lived here, and it's been a relaxed experience for me also.

Right-wingers and Trumpists already operate many state governments and are taking over many public schools. Right-wingers and Trumpists have control of much of America's media already; Bezos now owns the Washington Post, etc.

The media situation is already so skewed that one ignorant Infidel recently called ProPublica a "far lefty" site! :confused2: As seen in the graphic attached ProPublica (just below FRONTLINE near the top) is rated as more trustworthy than ANY media that Skews even slightly Right, and is itself more to the Right than even CNN(TV).

Media-Bias-Chart-12.0_Jan-2024-Licensed-scaled.jpg
Notice the shape of that curve: an inverted V shape with centrist news outlets the most reliable and far-left and far-right ones the least reliable. There are some centrist ones that are relatively low in reliability, but they are medium reliable, not as low as the far left or the far right. There aren't any far-left or far-right outlets that are high in reliability,

Regarding his feelings today on the election.

It won’t even be close,
Also Donald Shit Show Trump said:
But it’s gonna take a long time to certify.
Poor Donald Trump can't even keep his statements logically intact.

We're going to win by a lot... but it will take a long time to find out. That isn't what winning by a lot actually works. I can see why so many want to vote for this guy. He thinks just as poorly as they do, and they probably wanted Mike Pence to be brutally murdered.

As a reminder, Trump won by a little in 2016, and we still knew who won the race that night.

Yawn. The right’s decades long, multi-billion dollar campaign of villainization has rendered anything not repeating RW lies, a liberal extremist anti-democracy plot.

In the potential good news for Harris column:
article said:
Election officials in Gwinnett County, Georgia, tell CNN they expect votes in this election to surpass the number of votes for all of 2020.
This carries a dual load of potential, but not confirmed details. Gwinnett County is a major county for the Democrat party. A higher turnout in Gwinnett County speaks to a potential for Harris to put up a harder fight in Georgia, as well as enthusiasm for the African American vote, at least in Georgia. Over half of the registered voters had voted already in Gwinnett County as of Friday!

If Gwinnett has higher turnout, Harris is likely in a better position to hold on to Georgia. And to be clear, I think one of the anxieties floating out there was that might have been easier to get people to vote by mail in 2020 than to vote in 2024. Would the magic of 2020 continue to keep people involved four years later. Turnout in Gwinnett County was 70% in 2020. Yeah, Stacey Abrams needs a several monuments in her honor. 70% in the US is pretty high. A higher turnout could mean bad news in Georgia for Trump. If Harris holds Georgia, Trump's path to the White House gets much harder. He needs Nevada and Pennsylvania to make up for it. And he has to take back Arizona too.

But again, these are meaningless tea leaves.

Low IQ Independent maybe.

And oddly didn't support her. He has endorsed Sanders, supported RFK Jr in early 2024, said he supported the Libertarian Party in 2016.

Joe Rogan found a nice niche... the meteorology of journalism.
Was Rogan hit in the head too many times in MMA fights?

What I just noticed from that chart is that there are no right wing sites in the top "thorough fact reporting" section at all.

What a coward she is.
It's going to pass. It would be STUPID for her to comment on it; no possible answer would avoid responses more reasonably damning than your (usual) vacuous ad hominem comment. She's presidential candidate - act surprised when she pays little attention to your local littering laws.

Kamala is lagging largely because people don't know who she is and what she stands for.
Harris also has a subtle problem with messaging. She is still the VP of a technically incumbent president.
That he stepped down from the campaign for this election doesn't change the fact that she remains his vice president. She cannot argue as directly for change because it's change from her "bosses" policies.
Normally someone running against an incumbent can be more critical. In this bizarre situation, there are two incumbents and then Harris.

I think that she's negotiated that minefield extremely well.
Tom
Yes, but she has said (repeatedly), "I'm not Joe Biden" which is intended to say, "I have my own ideas and policy positions". OK, fine. Let's hear some details about how things will be different. People would have more respect for her if she was forthcoming, even if they don't share her PoV. Instead, there's a lot of evasiveness, non-answers and talking in circles. People think she just doesn't know what she stands for herself, or is hiding something or maybe she's not very well informed and educated on the issues so is reluctant to risk putting her foot in her mouth.
She does have a website listing her stances on lots of issues, if you're genuinely interested in finding out:

It's going to be as vague as any other Presidential candidates stances, and mostly about legislative issues she would back rather than executive issues, but her stances are there and not hidden or anything. I think she's trying too hard to avoid gotcha soundbites that can be used against her, so comes across a little evasive because of that.

Probably not enough times.

lol, bringing up ancient history to deflect from cackling Kamala's lack of substance. And policies.
Ancient History?
You do realize that the guy who literally advocated executing his own vice president is currently running for office?
Don't you?

And that his idea of border control was a Wall that Mexico would pay for, right?

And that he was sure that Obama was not born in the USA, you do remember birtherism don't you?

Yet you think he's a better chance to improve USA than Harris?

Tom

Yet you think he's a better chance to improve USA than Harris?
Is that a question?
Swiz has been pretty nonplussed about anything smelling of pro or anti American rah rah. Like “improve the USA”.
Like climate change, he doesn’t invest any thought. Why bother? There are plenty of sources that voice the complaints of the typical Santa Monican.
I think it’s another “not my circus, not my monkeys, just get them off my lawn” thing. Amirite Swiz?
:)

Rogan smokes way too much pot.

I watched a few of his podcasts way back before he became a complete stoner, and they used to be interesting and entertaining. He never held himself forth as being intelligent in any fashion, but he brought on a very wide variety of people and gave air time to all sorts of different views. Then he started getting high during the shows, and they went downhill into some really weird stuff, and he started sharing his own "thoughts" on stuff he knows nothing about.
