Well, Trump hired his go-to legal guy for his Russian probe, so this ought to be fun to watch. This is the same laywer that Trump used to sue the New York Times reporter when he reported Trump was worth at most 250 million and not a billionaire as claimed, then lost the appeal too. Same lawyer that settled on Trump University. Trump is such a creature of habit, but I also have to wonder if there's a lot of other attorneys that simply don't take Trump seriously.
 
Wouldn't he want a lawyer skilled at Constitutional Law? Maybe Obama is available?

Oh gosh, could you imagine Obama arguing for the prosecution in front of SCOTUS, looking over at Trump and winking.

They take him seriously because he pays. His contractors and subs, not so much. But he pays lawyers. And he seems like the kind of idiot who will tell them to sue anyway, even though it's hopeless.

Actually, he doesn't always pay his lawyers, and has been sued by law firms because of this. Kasowitz is probably one of the few lawyers he has not stiffed yet, which is why he keeps going to him for legal help.

In the world of international diplomacy it's customary to go to extreme lengths to be friendly and gracious. If you don't repeatedly insist that others take the front row you've just done a diplomatic faux pas.

Add to that American culture. American culture isn't very good at being friendly. Americans say a lot of friendly things. But it's mostly just empty words. Americans are quite comfortable with others elbowing their way to the front. Most other cultures are NOT like that. So Americans have to make a great effort to reel that in when operating on an international platform. I'm positive that what Trump just did will come across completely differently depending on the culture from which you witnessed it. Most cultures will not be cool with it. To them/us what they saw just now was an insult to the other politician.

For about ten years now I've manged international teams of engineers. So I'm good at this stuff now.

Anyhoo... I think it was Obama who said that Trump can't be president because he just doesn't know how to do the job. This proves it. How fucking hard can it be not to be a total dick in front of a camera? For Trump, very.
