Another Fucking Mass Shooting At US School

This is all paid for by gun lobbyists. Remove that money from our politics and we MIGHT see a change. Until then it will continue to be money over everything else.
Even after then (is there is a “then”) it will continue to be money over everything else. Hopefully not THAT money though.

As long as we remove all the money from our politics. Private corporations gonna private corporation but at least we the people will have control over our legislators and not them. They can do fuck all about the laws we decide to have put in place accept bend over and take it.

Preaching to the choir, Gospel. I think that's the only/ultimate solution; get rid of Citizen United, make all State and Federal elections publicly funded and let the chips fall where thy may. That would be closer to a representative republic.

152 shots fired by shooter in Tennessee. How is a school supposed to defend itself against that?! A person with a handgun, could fire off that many shots, but it'd take a while and require a number of reloadings which would at least give the people that might die trying to save the lives of children (instead of teaching third grade math which they were doing 30 seconds previously), a chance to tackle the shooter. Knowing, that they'd possibly have gone to college and picked the wrong profession, as they are sprinting towards a person with a gun, trying to load it quick enough to take out the school's favorite third grade teacher... but not because the shooter gives a fuck about the school or the teachers or the students. But more because, it is merely an intersection at which they decided to end their life.

However, if the shooter can shot dozens, over a hundred bullets, how can anyone not armed (and trained hundreds of hours), be remotely capable of having a chance to help prevent more murders?

No, instead, everyone in these schools has to lock down and cower and within that short span of time that'll last for hours in each of those moments, and be with them for the rest of their lives, must hope or pray that the shooter doesn't choose their room. Hearing gunfire, hearing gunshot victims wailing in pain, in the hopes of not seeing their friend next to them bleed out to death in front of their eyes, as they would pretend to also be dead.

All because some people think the Founding Fathers would think for a moment, that this was an acceptable cost to a nearly unregulated firearm trade in our nation.

I guess they shouldn’t have put the words “shall not be infringed” in their precious document. Oh well, what can we possibly do now?

Or they should have used some different wording, like saying that all citizens may join the armed forces.

I'm not certain how people having AK-47s helps the US with a well regulated militia. We have a standing military.

La la la! Shall not be infringed!! La la la!!!

That assumes that it is all about money.
People do not have to listen to the lobbyists or the money. Getting rid of all that money will help but no guarantees. The voters still ultimately decide. As an outsider it seems that Americans really do not care that the these deaths are occurring.

So you're fine with shitting on the Constitution if it's to accomplish something you like?

And it would be possible to make a red flag law that didn't have the problem. We have a decent model of how to handle it: same as we do with restraining orders. Red flag should be akin to a temporary restraining order, a case must be made in court to extend it. And if not, the guns must be returned without cost or damage.
That's like saying convicted felons should be allowed to own guns after they've paid their debt to society. Good luck dying on that hill.
I don't support felons having firearms.

The problem I'm pointing out with the red flag laws is they are guilty until proven innocent--and in many cases you don't even get your day in court. Accusation = punishment with no recourse.
If this was long term or permanent, this would be a viable concern.
And it is. Red flag usually doesn't give the accused any defense. And you often don't get your guns back even if you're cleared.

Oh, no!

That's just tragic. I'm overwhelmed with sympathy for any poor person who has to suffer such an awful fate. :rolleyesa:

In other news, school shooters usually don't give their victims much of a defence, and you often don't get your children back, even if the shooter is killed or arrested.

One of these tragedies is not like the other. One of these tragedies demands action to defend the defenceless victims.

Hint: It's not the one you have picked.

Often implies a known quantity. So what is the percentage of people that wouldn't be allowed to muster a defense, how many didn't get their guns back, how many bruises for the girlfriend (wife)?

What?! People affected by red flag laws might wrongfully not get their guns back?

We must all get together and send them our thoughts and prayers. What worse pain can a person go through than to loose their guns?

course that is assuming this even happens, which I doubt

A shooting plot by a trans person was prevented before carried out.

According to the arrest report, Whitworth's sister called authorities on March 31 and said Lilly had made a violent approach at her, had talked about a school shooting two days before and had severe anger issues.

Allison Cortez, a spokesperson for Colorado Springs Academy District 20, said the suspect's sister acted with "courage" by reporting a threat she saw, potentially averting disaster.
On a dry erase board in the home, Moore said there were drawings of what appeared to be a school's floor plan. In a manifesto, authorities say the suspect detailed the names of individuals to be killed, as well as information detailing the creation of improvised explosive devices and a list of firearms and how to 3D print them.

"a trans person", I wonder, or

A bullied human being under the influence of testosterone.

Evidence is mounting not against transition, but to the idea that testosterone drives aggression and violence. Big shocker there: when boys have a hard time in highschool they can resort to inappropriate, violent outbursts..

At best the instances of trans boys with violent ideations indicates is that violence is a "testosterone thing", not even a "man/woman thing."

Of course this is being used, ironically enough, as rhetoric to deny mostly trans GIRLS the right to NOT take testosterone. As if forcing people into an unwanted exposure to testosterone will not further exacerbate the problem.

Instead, it appears the GOP is in the process of farming up a new population of people disgruntled both by the fact that they have been forced into testosterone exposure and by the physiological effects of testosterone exposure itself.

The solution to these situations is not to deny the right to transition, but to educate and provide oversight so that the kinda of situations that lead to bullying don't grow to this extent, and to prevent easy access to firearms, especially for minors.
