Covid-19 miscellany

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/los-angeles-county-adopts-new-stay-home-order-covid-19-n1249184

The new restrictions, to take effect Monday and to stay in place at least until Dec. 20, will prohibit public and private gatherings except for those people already living together. Religious services and protests will be exempted.

So, supposedly here in California, we are developing Covid-19 pandemic rules and restrictions based on the underlying science. Somehow, after cranking through the data, our scientists have discovered that religious services and protests seem to be the only large gatherings that don't contribute to the spread of Covid-19. Huh.

Actually, the problem is indoor vs. outdoor. Indoor gatherings are a problem because they are often poorly ventilated. Outdoor gatherings are less of a problem because they are much better ventilated, especially on windy days.

Outdoor religious services would thus be much less of a problem than indoor ones.

OK, then, lets start having outdoor concerts again. And going to the beach.

The UK police go full on Nazi;

Central London descended into anarchy today as riot police arrested more than 60 angry anti-lockdown demonstrators as thousands took to the streets and booed officers while chanting 'shame on you'. Dozens of violent anti-lockdown activists clashed with police while thousands more gathered in the capital amid growing discontent with the government's new tier system to be introduced on December 2. Up to 100 Tory backbenchers are threatening to rebel against Boris Johnson's draconian new tier regime next week.

Much less but large crowds aren't a good idea, period.

I’d be interested to see the names of the scientists that actually claimed that and seeing the evidence why. But of course we know that this bullshit can be lumped in with the rest of the ant-science rhetoric and dumb internet memes that pass for science on here.

Dude, you need to fine tune your sarcasm detector! Its politically motivated, of course....

Yes, I realize that it’s sarcasm and politically motivated because none of these restrictions are based on science or data.

Truly frightening;

COVID- passport' for tourists who have had a cornavirus shot is in the final stages of development amid speculation airlines will BAN anyone who has refused the injection

If it bothers you so much, you can drive.

You may however be required to carry a "driver's passport" - how frightening is that?

But it's the libs trying to mind control everyone and/or turn us into human antennae for the cabal of global elites to work us like puppets in their nefarious world domination plans, plus it probably causes autism like all the other vaccines. FRIGHTENING.

A non sequitur.

Between a private company putting into their terms of use that you need to carry documentation showing you are not a danger to other travellers before boarding their, the company's, private vehicles, and the state putting it into laws that you must carry documentation showing you are not a danger to other travellers before being allowed to hit public roads, there latter is more frightening, more reeking of authoritarianism.

It’s an idiotic comparison based on your dumb thoughts that people traveling on an airplane somehow equates to being qualified to fly the aircraft similar to a driver’s license or some such bullshit. Should a toddler strapped into their car seat also have a “driver’s passport” ?

Seriously, jog on.

Jokodo didn't equate it to piloting the plane, but to boarding the plane, the obvious (or should be) implication being that an infected person poses a danger to other passengers. It's pretty clear what was meant.

And it IS a useful comparison to a driver's license because driving cars is an activity that also can put others at risk of harm if you do it without proper training and certification before being allowed to drive.

The comparison is taking an action that can put others at risk without taking precautions, meaning vaccine or negative test for infectious diseases and a driver's license for driving.

What's truly frightening is that anyone would have a problem with this. It's not like it's something His Flatulence bypassed the FDA on.

I'd like to see businesses ban such people, also.

Required vaccinations for travel is a normal thing depending on where you are coming from. I have shown a vaccination card at plenty of border crossings.

Doctors and clinics also commonly refuse to see children who haven't been vaccinated. No one in the world has a problem with this except anti-science, anti-social, anti-rational anti-vaxxers.

Ironically the people who are terrified of this reasonable exercise of discretion are also proclaiming they won’t live in fear, as they rip off their masks.
