Gas almost $7 a gallon

Wow! Somebody thinks that this Brandon guy is powerful enough to control a global commodity. Somebody needs a lesson in supply and demand and the numerous things that impact a global commodity.

Btw, Georgia is one of 4 states, or so I've heard, where gas is under 4 bucks a gallon. Thanks Brandon! /s
Don't you know presidents have magical powers to control the economy?

But we must still be careful, if a plucky band of freedom fighters steals the golden pen from the Resolute Desk and tosses it off of the Walled Street of Manhattan, all is lost.
Can you imagine the bitching from the right if Biden actually took steps to nationalize oil production? Yet that seems to be what Tswizzle wants.

Just part of the pain I need to endure until I get my hands on one of those $70k electric cars I suppose.

Just paid 6.89/g for premium, ouch! But we're on a cheeky vacation down to San Diego, we knew what we were getting into, haha.

Around $4.50-$4.60 for regular Unleaded. Florida.
The same here.

$5.18 for premium but I got 20 cents off the first ten gallons with my Kroger discount. First time I've ever gotten more than 3 cents off. Woot!

We're just about to hit $7/gal here in the SF Bay Area. Oh, yay. BTW, several gas stations have recently limited my gas purchase to $50 on my debit card. Which is about 1/2 tank. So, I have to fill up more often. Anyone else out there limited to $50? And what's up with that?

Yeah, I remember that happening back in ‘08 during the last go around with high gas prices. Haven’t used a debit card in a coon’s age though. Can’t you get a credit card?

Regular hit five bucks a gallon here. $5.60 for premium but I got 70 cents off with my Kroger points discount. Sweet.

$5.19 thursday.

Any idea what caused the jump, nothing special seems to have happened in Ukraine.

I believe it took a jump when European nations announced they would be off Russian oil by the end of the year.

Joe Biden turned the dial on the White House desk to "make it expensive."

I kid, but there are people who think this is the way it works.

Side note...I wonder aloud how this is going to affect things moving forward. There was a time not long ago when gas prices were (for the time) absurdly high, and consumers started to avoid buying Hummers and ridiculously inefficient SUVs. Toyota Priuses started showing up on the roadways. The pendulum swung back. For quite some time now, the automakers have been moving away from sedans and coupes in favor of SUVs, CUVs, and other larger (and less fuel efficient) vehicles. The difference this time is that there are manufacturers that have been slowly but surely rolling out electric vehicles. I have a feeling that if this continues, a lot more people are going to take the plunge into the EV space, and the more nimble automakers are going to respond.

I spent most of the last year driving a modified Chevy Bolt for work, and while I was skeptical at first, I understand the appeal. You just plug it in, go to lunch, and when you come back out to the car it is charged up and ready to go...no gas needed.

May 3rd Costco $5.46.

Lots of other gas stations in the $6.19+ range.

Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow said that record-high gas prices 'don't matter' to her because she has an electric vehicle as she urged Americans to by eco-friendly vehicles and decrease reliability on greedy oil companies. Her comments came on the day the average price per gallon of gas in the U.S. reached a new high of $4.92. In Michigan the average sits higher at $5.17 per gallon, according to AAA's tracker. 'On the issue of gas prices – after waiting for a long time to have enough chips in this country to finally get my electric vehicle – I got it and drove it from Michigan to here this last weekend and went by every gas station and it didn't matter how high it was,' the Michigan senator said.
Daily Mail

Good for her, she said it out loud.

What is wrong with the dumb plebs that they don't go out and buy a $50k+ electric vehicle?

This summer ought to be interesting. Electric power grid brownouts are predicted around the country along with ever increasing gas prices. Whether your car is gas or electric, its not going to be pretty. I think its time to get the old bicycle tuned up. Maybe see if mom threw out my old skateboard.

Over $5 now in NE Ohio.

Yeah, all that not climate change related temp increases leading to more AC use.

$5.20 for regular here now, the highest in the state.

We're NUMBER ONE! :cheer:

We haven't needed gas in 3 weeks, but I think it was about 4.25 yesterday at a nearby station.

People do need to drive less, if at all possible. I do feel especially bad for the truckers and delivery people who have no choice but to use their vehicles for work, and aren't reimbursed adequately, if at all. Perhaps truckers need to be subsidized until the price falls and/or a solution is found to reduce our dependence on oil base fuels. It appears as if some of the largest oil producing countries have been purposely holding back on releasing more oil. Why not? The price was up to over 122/barrel today. It's all about money. Maybe this should be in politics. Sorry......
