Gas almost $7 a gallon

Just heard today that OPEC will be increasing production in July or August.

Many people in California have had enough of the insufferable prick Newsom and are leaving.

Thousands of Californians are fleeing to Mexico amid the soaring cost of living in the golden state. Americans taking advantage of work from home are reaping the benefits of US salaries, while living off Mexico's cheaper lifestyle. Many feel forced out by rocketing inflation in the golden state that has gas, grocery, and living costs soaring under Governor Gavin Newsom.

Let's Go Brandon (and Newsom).

One of the dipshit republicans running for governor here is blaming our present governor and Biden for their "socialist" policies. Why are republicans so bleedingly stupid that they believe that shit?

$5.15 / gallon here now, BTW. Down a nickel.

Ah, give them a bit of time and space to deal with their grief; the Republican showing in the primary election was pretty damn embarassing. Gas prices clearly weren't the golden ticket item the mail litter in my entryway suggests they were expecting them to be.

Worse than France, that's for sure.

France averages around $8.50/gal. Around here, where I live, it's only a little over $4.25/gal. Gas prices in France are twice as good as here.

Oh wait, there are people who think cheap gas is a good thing. Sorry if I triggered someone who is really attached to their gas guzzler.

Not.

Some ex-football player suggested filling up at a half tank. He totally bungled the explanation and made himself look like an idiot but I think the psychological effect is sound.

Posts replying to Tswizzle's California plant move have been moved to the thread he started here.

Thanks for starting the thread there, Tswizzle. Much appreciated. (y)

But Biden works tirelessly, TCB;

President Joe Biden fired a broadside in the nation's culture wars on Wednesday, condemning hundreds of 'ultra MAGA' laws that he said discriminated against gay and transgender people. Speaking before he signed an executive order designed to roll back the impact of more than 300 laws, he described it as a battle for the soul of the nation. 'I don't have to tell you about the ultra-MAGA agenda, attacking families and our freedoms, in Florida going after Mickey Mouse for God's sake. ' he said at an event marking Pride Month at the White House.

Yeah, why hasn't he flipped the switch in the White House that controls gas prices? Trump checked that switch everyday (after his "executive time" and a few rounds of golf) to make sure it was in the "low" position, but Sleepy Joe (probably) accidentally threw it over to "high" while reaching for the right words to say.

I wonder how other countries are keeping their gas prices at historic lows? I bet the rest of the world is laughing at us over our inflation (which no other country has) and high gas prices. I've half a mind to ship my car to France and have it filled up, because gas prices here in America are just so much higher.

As for the gays, the Bible says we can oppress them all we want, and since the US Constitution is based on the Bible, treating them like second class citizens is perfectly in keeping with our nation's ideals.

p.s. I almost forgot. I need to mail a check to Trump's "Save America" fund so that it can go directly into fighting for our freedoms and not into his pockets.

Yeah, why hasn't he flipped the switch in the White House that controls gas prices?
Who is saying that there is a switch? But the federal government does have many regulatory levers that impact gas prices.
And decisions like shutting down KXL pipeline are not helping matters.
Note also that the Obama/Biden administration tried to shut down DAPL in 2016. Had they been successful, we would be even worse off because there would be more transportation bottlenecks. DAPL moves over a half a million barrels of light sweet crude from Bakken wells to refineries very safely and efficiently. And Obama wanted to kill it to appease some eco-extremist nuts and Indians.

You should do it. :)
Seriously though, the reason gas prices are much higher in many countries is because of very high taxes. And frankly, for fighting climate change we should have a higher tax on gas (and on other carbon-based fuels). But alas, that is very politically unpopular.

I thought it might amuse Infidels to look at a list of global gasoline prices (country averages) excerpted from here. (That page shows American dollars per litre, but, presuming that some "conservatives" find metric too woke or too effeminate, I have multiplied by 4.54609.)

$2.82 Saudi Arabia
$4.10 Russia
$4.31 Bangladesh
$4.76 Argentina
$4.99 United Arab Emirates
$5.81 Burma
$6.06 India
$6.23 USA
$6.31 Chile
$6.43 Brazil
$6.46 Vietnam
$6.51 China
$6.94 Thailand
$6.94 Cambodia
$7.05 Costa Rica
$7.27 Turkey
$7.32 South Korea
$7.52 Peru
$7.84 Bulgaria
$8.09 Poland
$8.12 Canada
$9.07 Czech Republic
$9.12 Hungary
$9.19 Germany
$9.39 New Zealand
$9.41 Ireland
$9.54 Israel
$9.61 Albania
$9.62 Italy
$9.74 Lithuania
$9.93 France
$9.94 Switzerland
$10.03 Spain
$10.04 Belgium
$10.07 United Kingdom
$10.27 Portugal
$10.45 Sweden
$11.21 Netherlands
$11.39 Greece
$12.02 Finland
$12.06 Denmark
$12.28 Norway
$13.63 Hong Kong

While some big oil producers (Saudi, Russia, UAE and, yes. USA) may subsidize gasoline; others do not: Norway's gasoline is almost twice the American price. As you can see, USA gas is cheap compared with Canada, New Zealand, UK, etc. Hongkong gas is a whopping $13.63 (U.S. dollars) per gallon.

One thing is certain: While most of the developed countries have gasoline more expensive than the U.S., you will be hard-pressed to find any country where a political fringe whinges about the prices as much as Karen and Chad Trumpsuck do.

Biden demands oil companies explain lack of gasoline as prices rise

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday demanded oil companies explain why they aren’t putting more gasoline on the market, sharply escalating his rhetoric against industry as he faces pressure over rising prices.

Biden wrote to executives from Marathon Petroleum Corp, Valero Energy Corp, and Exxon Mobil Corp and complained they had cut back on oil refining to pad their profits, according to a copy of the letter seen by Reuters.

“At a time of war, refinery profit margins well above normal being passed directly onto American families are not acceptable,” Biden wrote, adding the lack of refining was driving gas prices up faster than oil prices.

“The lack of refining capacity – and resulting unprecedented refinery profit margins – are blunting the impact of the historic actions my Administration has taken to address Vladimir Putin’s Price Hike and are driving up costs for consumers.”

The letter is also being sent to Phillips 66, Chevron Corp, BP and Shell, a White House official, who declined to be identified, told Reuters.
The president, who came into office vowing to reduce U.S. dependence on fossil fuels, now wants to speed up oil production, which is expected to hit record highs in the United States next year.
“Exxon made more money than God this year,” Biden said last week. Exxon made $5.48 billion in the quarter ended March 31, double the year prior, and told investors to expect strong profits to last into next year.
U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm plans to host an emergency meeting on how refiners can respond to higher prices, Biden said, asking for a response from the oil companies beforehand.
He said they should provide “concrete ideas” to increase oil refining along with an explanation for why they may have cut such capacity in the last two years.

Who is saying that there is a switch? But the federal government does have many regulatory levers that impact gas prices.
They have virtually none. We have a massive stockpile to deal with supply shortages, but being able to control the global price of oil and gasoline is a tad bit difficult when the US, while leading in production, is still a minor fraction of global production. Biden is doing about all he can, whine at the oil companies. But they aren't going to change anything.
And decisions like shutting down KXL pipeline are not helping matters.
That would not have impacted the price of gasoline a single iota.
500,000 barrels? That'd be 2 to 4% of our daily oil production. Not very large.

Taxes on gas in the US are low, very low globally. Not many countries selling gasoline for so little in taxes, other than third world nations that subsidize the actual cost of gasoline. There are many reasons gasoline and oil are high right now. The liberal boogie man is low on that list of causes.
