Giuliani Sued for Sexual Assault

Imma keep it 100 wit yawl. If my boss put me in a position that I felt I needed to perform sexual favors to keep my job I'd be gone ASAP. I wouldn't even give them two weeks notice. If anything I'd be in jail for putting that MF in the hospital.

Boy, it's handy being a dude, isn't it?

WTF are you talking about? My wife, my daughter, my mother, my female cousins, my sister, my dead grandmother wouldn't be <Mod self Edit> performing sexual favors for a job.

Yeah, me either. But Tom’s comment is well taken: women are much more likely than men to be propositioned by someone at work and made to feel that if they aren’t cooperative, they’ll lose their job. Or roof over their head or transportation or ( insert whatever is necessary to stay alive)

He had not expected Giuliani to flop himself down on the bed and start masturbating,
Having just watched the scene, looks more like he's tucking his shirt back in his trousers after she had been fiddling around down there.

The idea that "America's Mayor" welcomed being fiddled around with by a woman he wasn't married to is so republican values amirite?

I need a shower just reading this. Fucking hell.

I'm reading through some of the sexual assault allegations, and trying to figure out how an attorney - let alone an adult of Rudy's age - would think this stuff was appropriate at work. Or...anywhere.

He's fucking 30 years older than this woman, and her employer. And this stuff happened in the midst of the "me too" movement. How...just...how does someone who's survived over 70 years on this planet not get it?

I mean, last week at work I was joking around with the watch officer after I'd mitigated some potentially disastrous situations. She was singing my praises and saying "that's my savior right there" and "this is my guy" and I'm thinking "careful...Icarus. You need to keep this from getting even remotely flirtatious" (because she's decades younger and attractive). "Gods I hope she doesn't think I was hitting on her because that would be wrong."

Rudy? "I've got a million dollars and a penis!"

What the actual fuck?

You’re a decent person. Rudy is not and hasn’t been for years. Maybe never was.

That’s the very enormous difference.

My interpretation of TomC's remark suggests an undercurrent of belief that only men have the agency to navigate situations where they're coerced into performing sexual favors to secure their job. Of course, I recognize that my interpretations may not always be accurate.

Edit: For clarity. Woman can easily put men in the hospital. Anyone who doesn't know this is delusional or thinks angry women will put on boxing gloves and ask for a fair match every single time.

Women don’t always realize that they can take power and inflict some damage.
I believe they do. They just aren't as stupid as we are which lead to the current and historic affairs by and amongst men.

Nobody here is arguing that Giuliani isn't a lecherous old creep, except maybe TSwizzle, who will only grudgingly admit that he has seen headlines of Giuliani being "a bit of a douche". That must have been painful for him to admit, but I'm sure we all appreciate the effort.

I live in California, I don't hear much about Giuliani. You make reference to Sasha Baron Cohen and Giuliani, I've not seen that clip but I will try to see it.

I read much of the complaint and Giuliani may well be creepy af (and a raging alcoholic) but I am skeptical that this woman went along with giving the fat old geezer blowjobs and now tries to sue him for $10m. WTF is she thinking?

Giuliani has been in nationwide stories of Trump-related scandals for years now. Not sure how you missed them. Oh, wait. Fox News.

We don't actually know what she did for him other than let him masturbate in her presence. Her lawyer said that he took a lot of viagra and that he often did masturbate in her presence. Sasha Baron Cohen said that's what he saw Giuliani doing. But maybe he just needs to lie on a bed to adjust his shirt in the presence of a pretty young female.

The plaintiff says that Giuliani basically roped her into the job by offering to handle her divorce case against her husband, and then he got her to start working with a promise to pay her $1 million per year. She was incredibly gullible to believe his story that he couldn't pay her until after his own divorce, because he was trying to make sure there was no record to tie him to her. In fact, he never paid her that promised money, but he did give her some money and paid for some medical. I can see where she felt beholden to him and reluctant to simply walk away. Walk away from her income and the legal aid to what? She's got a side of the story to tell and needs to be heard. I don't know whether we'll ever hear Rudy's, because he is claiming she never did any work for him. Not sure how he will reconcile that with all of the recordings and digital records she has from the workplace she was in. There will be depositions from coworkers.

That said: women, at least white middle class women, grow up well socialized against physically defending themselves. We’re taught to be nice. To placate. To avoid. To avoid giving the wrong impression. To avoid being ‘too close I.e. within arm’s reach. To avoid making men angry or aroused or embarrassed ( god help you if it’s all three—speaking from experience here). To be nice. Yes, I wrote that twice on purpose.

The truth is, if you hesitate or doubt yourself or if he is able to overpower you: you’re in a lot of danger. Physically, yes. But he can also lose you your job, your housing, your relationship, your kids, your reputation.

Is the implication here I watch Fox News? I don’t know why you would think that, I don’t watch Fox News, never have. I don’t really watch tv news very much at all. Just local stuff, traffic etc
We don't actually know what she did for him other than let him masturbate in her presence.
Well I don’t know that for sure. She claims it? She has accused him of it? I didn’t see that in the paper but I may have missed it. But I don’t think we know that for sure.

Her lawyer said that he took a lot of viagra and that he often did masturbate in her presence.

Ok, but is there actual proof?

I don’t know what Baron said, all I saw of Baron was him dressed weirdly. And it looked to me like Giuliani was tucking his shirt back in after she adjusted something, dunno what she was doing down there.

It’s sketchy af but I’m a little skeptical of her motives. She stays for two years giving that fat old geezer blowjobs on demand? Did she get fired? Disgruntled employee?

She seemingly has a brain.

dunphy

Interesting character, if that is her website she still has Giuliani in her bio.

Does some modeling too

Yeah baby

This! I find T to the Swizzle disagreeable on many topics but my street wisdom is on Twizzlers' I mean TSwizzle's side on this.

Nevertheless, you seem well-versed in right wing talking points. Doesn't mean you watch Fox News, but Rudy's excuse is that he was just tucking his shirt in, which you coincidentally just repeated here. I usually don't have to lie on my back on a bed to tuck in my shirt, but maybe he has trouble keeping his balance and tucking his shirt at the same time.

Dunno. We just have the complaint to read for now. Well, that and interviews with her lawyer. I watched one on MSNBC--Lawrence O'Donnell. He talked a lot about what he thought they could prove as the legal process moved forward.

Fair enough. Here is an MSNBC segment where O'Donnell plays an interview that Cohen gave to Variety about that scene. Also has footage of an interview with her lawyer.

I don't see anything on that website to contradict anything she said or mitigate any of the sleazy behavior that she alleges he engaged in. It was what you might expect as a site devoted to promoting herself and her career. As for the bio, she was working for him, and that gave her access to all those people. Her story is that he recruited her aggressively for a job that turned out later to be his way of trapping her into a sexual relationship. According to her, Giuliani made clear to her that sex was an absolute requirement to continue her employment and enjoy the legal help she needed. As an employer who was a lawyer, he had to be aware of the laws surrounding that kind of workplace environment.

Such as? And what has that got to do with anything?

Doesn't mean you watch Fox News, but Rudy's excuse is that he was just tucking his shirt in, which you coincidentally just repeated here.

Yeah, because that is what I saw! He certainly wasn't masturbating.

I usually don't have to lie on my back on a bed to tuck in my shirt, but maybe he has trouble keeping his balance and tucking his shirt at the same time.

Maybe he thinks he's getting laid? The interviewer was being flirtatious. That was the purpose of the skit, yeah?

Fair enough. Here is an MSNBC segment where O'Donnell plays an interview that Cohen gave to Variety about that scene.

Couldn't watch the whole thing. Saw Cohen's interview. ??
According to her, Giuliani made clear to her that sex was an absolute requirement to continue her employment and enjoy the legal help she needed.
And she went along with that for two years before filing a $10m lawsuit. On day one, she didn't just say fuck that I'm out of here, you will be hearing from my lawyers? Odd, no?

As an employer who was a lawyer, he had to be aware of the laws surrounding that kind of workplace environment.

He certainly would be. But she wasn't? She went with the blowing the fat old geezer for two years?

So you are arguing it was a breach of contract then.

Imma keep it 100 wit yawl. If my boss put me in a position that I felt I needed to perform sexual favors to keep my job I'd be gone ASAP. I wouldn't even give them two weeks notice. If anything I'd be in jail for putting that MF in the hospital.

Tom

WTF are you talking about? My wife, my daughter, my mother, my female cousins, my sister, my dead grandmother wouldn't be <Mod self Edit> performing sexual favors for a job.
No... but the degree of fear and intimidation for a woman is different than for a man. You, as a man, might actually have a pretty good chance of putting the MF in the hospital - a woman wouldn't have that same chance, and would have a higher chance of being the one who ended up in the hospital if she presented a physical response. She might face violence for refusing in the first place.

And as a man, you're less likely to have rumors about your behavior follow you to a new job in the same industry - much less likely to be slandered as a "slut" who "sleeps her way to the top", and also less likelihood of being branded a "troublemaker" who "cries sexual assault just to get her way".

Hell, as a man you're a lot less likely to ever find yourself in any situation that even borders on this in the first place.

The vast majority of women would never ever trade sexual favors for a job... but the repercussions and dynamics for women are very, very different than they are for men.

So yeah - it's handy being a dude when it comes to situations like this.
