How should west respond to Russian invasion of Ukraine?

By the way, Trump called Putin and asked him to help him exit his little war with Iran.
Putin doesn't know shit about how to exit a war he should never have started in the first place.
Yes, according to you, Putin started US-Iran war.
WTF?

I have never even hinted at such abject nonsense. Have you had a recent blow to the head?
There is a theory prevalent hereabouts that Trump does the bidding of Putin, so I assume by extension, etc. At least that may be what barbos is getting at?

It would make as much sense as anything else Trump does. Making oil more valuable never hurts an oil-reliant imperialist enterprise like Russia’s little expansionist exercise.

I don’t think it goes beyond an admiration for Putin’s control over Russia which Trump wrongly interprets as leadership. Trump, like Putin thinks leadership is derived from fear.

So while Ukrainian forces continued their long-range strike campaign against Russian defense industrial and oil infrastructure, Russian forces struck a maternity hospital in Odesa City. Did they actually target the hospital or are they just lobbing death, come what may?
I've been reading Ukraine has been getting quite good at targeting, taking 40% of Russia's oil export capacity off line. So even with the increase in oil prices, I think this will still keep Russia below the break even point which should in turn keep their current economic woes in place.

In other news:
-Ukraine signs a ten year defense agreement with Qatar to develop drone air defense technology. This compliments a previously signed agreement with Saudi Arabia and a soon to be sign agreement with the UAE.
-European allies are publicly and privately telling American diplomats that Russia is directly and materially helping Iran's war efforts beyond what the U.S. will publicly acknowledge.
-UK special forces get the go ahead to board Russian shadow fleet vessels.
PM Starmer said:
"Putin is rubbing his hands at the war in the Middle East because he thinks higher oil prices will let him line his pockets. That's why we're going after his shadow fleet even harder, not just keeping Britain safe but starving Putin's war machine of the dirty profits that fund his barbaric campaign in Ukraine."
-Meanwhile the Druzhba (or Friendship) pipeline still runs dry. Along with the previous damage done and the ensuing responses from Hungary and Slovakia to halt energy (gas and electricity) to Ukraine, Ukraine responded by hitting a critical transit node for the Druzhba deep within Russia.

And so it goes.

This must drive Barbos nuts, but yes, Ukraine has been the expert in deploying cheap effective drones to the world.

For a couple of days? And how did you come up with 40% number?
Reality is, Russia has an excuse now to declare war a on Baltic States and article 5 does not apply.
Baltic States really want to go back to Russia.
As they say in my neighborhood, "You and what army?".

Russia doesn't need an excuse to invade another country, as history has illustrated. Putin is going to have enough trouble keeping the Russian Federation intact as it stands now, without trying another hopeless expedition of conquest. Don't forget that the Army he wasted in Ukraine was recruited from Republics other than Russia. They won't be so keen to invade themselves. How does two dozen Chechen Wars sound? He doesn't have a navy and the Army and Air Force are severely degraded. Article 5 would certainly be invoked and the first stage would be to reduce Russia's oil exports to zero, if Ukraine hasn't already done that for them.

Why would any Baltic State want to return to Russia? I would love to hear that sales pitch.

Dude. Estonia is 1.3 mil people and half of them emigrated already
Russia USA doesn't need an excuse to invade another country,
Fixed your typo.

You would be surprised how many would not mind that.
No surprizes here. Seriously, if you were to list the advantages for Estonia joining the Russian Federation, what would your masters tell you to say?

You still don't have a Navy and not much of an Army or Airforce.

It's a scary new world with drones and AI.

The drone war has moved to the ground, and the results are already reshaping frontline tactics.
The 3rd Assault Brigade reportedly transported more than 200 tonnes of goods in one month alone using UGVs, the equivalent of 10,000 soldiers each carrying 20 kilograms to frontline positions. Colonel Anatolii Kulykivskyi has said that ground drones now handle 70% of the brigade’s frontline logistics. One Ukrainian soldier added that, in a single month, his unit used one Termit UGV for 18 sorties, spending a total of 88.5 hours on the move to provide logistical support to frontline positions. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said Ukrainian forces carried out more than 7,000 UGV missions in a single month.

You are correct that I would be suprised.
A straw poll (admittedly imprecise) of the Balts I know (<=27) gave 100% to nyet to Russia.

Seriously, if you were to list the advantages for Estonia joining the Russian Federation,
Economic advantages, Cultural too. And cheap vodka of course. During soviet time Baltic republics were the best part of USSR. Now, they are pretty much shithole of Europe.

Not surprised, expats are a weird bunch.
If you listen to expats from designated bad countries (Russia, Iran, Belarus) you will confirm the garbage which is already in your head.

Air defence units of Ukrainian companies start intercepting drones
KYIV, March 30 (Reuters) - The first of the air defence units formed by Ukrainian industrial enterprises has already begun carrying out combat duties, while new units are ‌being formed at 13 other enterprises, Ukraine's defence minister said on Monday.
So glad to see Ukraine making it work without Trump's America.
Zelensky should be president for life.

The Baltic States has already experienced the cultural advantages of joining with Russia.
NKVD order 001223 spells out in distressing detail what union with Russia would be like.
This, amongst other reasons, is why the Balts say nyet to Russia.

The Baltics republics were the best part because they were not Russian.
Now, they are pretty much shithole of Europe.
Presumably you are using Belarus as your baseline?

What do you expect NKVD to do with nazi rebels?
Having said that, large number of top baltic officials in post WW2 baltics were .... former soldiers in german army.
The Baltics republics were the best part because they were not Russian.
To some extent yes, but mostly because said russians kept it that way.
The ironic part is that soviet "regime" was not hostile at mild nativism at all. In fact it encouraged it.
Russification in USSR is a myth.

Belarus much closer to Baltic states culturally than you think.
My baseline for Europe is Albania and and to a lesser degree Bulgaria. Both are shittier than Baltic state of course.
My point is, perception is always relative. In USSR baltic states were at the top. In EU now, they are at the bottom (Albania excluded)
