Legal definition of woman is based on biological sex, UK supreme court rules

They allowed a registered sex offender to use the girls locker room.

Registered sex offender Richard Cox was back in an Arlington, Virginia, courtroom Thursday for a lengthy preliminary hearing. Cox is accused of exposing himself to multiple women and children in Arlington Public Schools' girls’ locker room. In court Thursday morning. Cox repeatedly insisted he is a woman, and insisted the judge order the prosecutor to stop misgendering him and to use female pronouns. Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis has defended his department’s decision not to file charges against Cox for his visits to Fairfax County rec centers, saying Fairfax County’s policy, set by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the park authority, allows people to use locker rooms based on gender identity.

But what caused him to be a "sex offender"?

The label has been sufficiently misused that I do not trust that it means actual wrongdoing. Did they actually attack someone, or is the offense simply from using the restroom that matches their presentation? People have gotten on the sex offender list from simply peeing in an alley because they couldn't hold it.

It's pretty clear the brain is in some way wired with a gender perception even though we do not yet know how it works.
Why do you think this is clear?
The high rate of getting it wrong with surgical "correction" of the intersexed. If gender perception followed anatomy and upbringing that population would have no higher a rate of issues than the population at large--but they do. That means there's something that not even the surgeon can see. What's left but the mind?

Indecent exposure, indecent liberties with children, possession of child pornography, and a whole lot of loitering around schools and day cares AFTER having served time for that.

Oh - also... when he was arrested this time, he had child porn on his phone, along with the schedule for the kids gymnastics classes and the kids swimming classes.

The majority of the "getting it wrong" happens because the infant is male, but their penis didn't look quite right. It's a lot easier for a surgeon to alter a misformed penis so that it resembles a vulva than the other way around. Doing so, however, doesn't alter their actual sex, nor does it alter what hormones their body produces when they hit puberty.

What you're somehow inferring to be proof of a hypothetical gender essence of the mind is actually support for the reality and immutability of sex.

Why should women have to put up with this shit?

The transgender person caught up in a viral Los Angeles gym bathroom row had been convicted of assaulting their now-ex-wife while living in Ohio as a man — before taking the victim’s first name as their own. Alexis Black ran afoul of women at a gym in Beverly Hills, including singer-songwriter Tish Hyman, who accused them of exposing himself and harassing her in the locker room. Black, formerly Grant Freeman, pleaded guilty in 2022 to savagely beating his wife Alexis Freeman, causing a compound fractured jaw among other serious injuries.
Freeman, now Alexis Black, recently spoke out after Hyman, who is an out lesbian, claimed she was recently kicked out of a former Gold’s Gym in Beverly Hills for confronting a person with male genitalia in the women’s locker room. Footage of the shouting match quickly exploded on social media after Hyman, who boasts nearly 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners, accused the trans gym-goer of exposing his penis in the locker room and harassing women.

So...

...how are we all feeling about the IOC's decision to reintroduce sex testing to protect fairness in women's sport, by trying to exclude males?

I didn't know they had ever stopped, and don't care at all - any sports governing body, including but not limited to the IOC, can have any rules they want about who is or is not allowed in any of their competitions.

Such rules have no wider applicability to anything, nor do they have any wider impact on anything.

Sex testing for the Olympics was stopped about 30 years ago.

And do you really think any sports body can have any rules they want about who is allowed in their competitions?

Supporter of apartheid era South African sports policies are you?

And the wider salience is obvious.

If there are some circumstances, such as sports, where excluding males who identify as females from a female category is justified, might there be others?

Supporter? No.

Do I recognise that such rules existed? Yes.

Did apartheid rules about sport matter much, in the wider scheme of apartheid? No. Sport was literally the least of the problems with apartheid.

Might be. It would be up to you to show that "might" implies "is".

Insinuating that your thesis might be true is not evidence that it is true.

But presumably you’d be OK with a sports body excluding blacks, Jews, gays etc. because you believe “ a sports body can have any rules they want about who is allowed in their competition”.

Rules are rules eh?

Let’s not worry about their justification or otherwise.

Well the first question, which you’ve avoided, is whether restricting female sports to biological females might be justified.

If it is, then the question arises as to whether there might be other such circumstances.

Yeah, you can presume whatever you want.

You ought to be aware that other people's opinions cannot be derived from your presumptions.

I apologise for engaging with you at all, and will leave you to your impervious bubble.

I think we can reasonably agree that a position that “any sports body can have any rules they want about who is allowed in their competition” is fundamentally immoral.

So, leaving aside that idiocy, the question is where and when it might be legitimate to have categories that do discriminate, and on what basis.
