TDS is just a slang term for people overly obessed with Trump.
TDS is used mostly by the wright about people they see as negativly opinionated about Rump, (like me), But don't see TDS in themselves.
The irony here is that indeed, plenty of people DO have Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s called MAGA.
Btw, how come nobody ever mentions that Trump has Biden or Obama derangement syndrome?
I do wonder, though, how many here are against the death penalty for the worst-of-the-worst-of-society because it's "inhumane and barbaric".
Not I.
If a person has long since proven themself to be a scourge on society, they should be removed from society by whatever cost effective means that are convenient. I do not feel society has any obligation to maintain such an offensive individual.
I we're talking about D.J. Rump, I agree.
If you aim for cost effective, life without parole is cheaper than the death penalty.
I don't see it. Please elaborate.
The way the legal system in this country works is that any death penalty case is automatically appealed. The appeals process can take years and often involves more than one appeal and is very costly and time consuming. It is actually cheaper to house an inmate for the rest of their lives than to execute them.
The lawyers bill hours.
The judge bills hours.
The cops all bill hours.
Sometimes additional witnesses bill hours.
The court stenographer bills hours.
The clerk bills hours.
The clerk's secretary bills hours.
All the folks at the prison relaying messages, coordinating meetings, they bill hours, too.
This happens repeatedly, though every level of the courts.
Sometimes emergency reviews can happen because they discover the person there didn't even do it and has
exonerating evidence in hand, and then the process goes to the Supreme Court and the verdict is "the rules are the rules! We said we're gonna kill him so we better damn well do it!", and a bunch more Judges bill a bunch more hours, or thereabouts.
Then there's transport to be considered, along with escort hours to and from.
All of this happens at professional rates often exceeding $200-250 an hour, and in addition to normal costs of incarceration, can take decades, and as mentioned, are sometimes done knowing for certain that the person to be executed is innocent of what they have been accused of and sentenced to die for, and the result is, after all that, to kill someone who we have sunk all of the resources of bringing to that point in their life.
It's pretty well guaranteed to cost more to kill someone than keep them alive and in prison.
I would just as soon forego the whole rigamarole and the endless automatic appeals to every level of the court system and all that bullshit and just let them live and see what comes of it.
That said, Mitch McConnell was a truly monumental sample of slime, dying as he lived: slowly, obstructively, as a spineless and feckless
ooze.
