Multi-Billionaire Oprah Whines About Sexism & Income Inequality At DNC

I also realize that men are not very good arbiters of what is and is not good quality.
I disagree.
Case in point.
Oprah was not a good talk show. It was a very popular among women show which kinda does make my point.
Call me names, but the vast majority of women have a very narrow range of interests in what they like to watch, and Oprah was right in the center of that range.

So on top of idiot nonsense propaganda posting, we have sexism. What a surprise.
No, just inconvenient reality where good shows with great scripts struggle to get women to watch it.

You’ve got a point: Who doesn’t love shows filled with violence, with tons of rape, depicting women as whores or victims, preferably both? Gotta be crazy or something…

Exactly, that garbage everybody including women loves. But I was talking about good TV shows.

No, women do not love shows about being raped or being prostitutes.

Jerry Springer might disagree.
Here is a thing. Women tend to like cheap unscripted shows where women basically bitching about relationships and gossips.
These shows cost literally nothing to produce, all you need is a good relatable personality like Oprah.
Men generally like scripted, expensive to produce shows with actual plot which spans years.

Or Jane Austen and Lucy Maud Montgomery, granted, not much with LMM except reboots of Anne these days.

Like Outlander, Grey's Anatomy, The Handmaid's Tale, Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey? Oh wait, most of those are DEI shows, don't count.

Television these days is reality because it is cheap, period. Yes, Hallmark/Lifetime are umpf. But AEW and WWE, many women probably find that umpf as well.

Like Outlander, Grey's Anatomy,....
Because producers go out of their way to include enough relationship "porn" to get women.
Unfortunately, no amount of relationship "porn" can make women watch SciFi TV series.
Of course it's not easy to jam a lot of relationship "porn" into SciFi. It just does not work.
Bottom line, men don't watch Oprah. And Doctor Phil, really?

Jerry Springer cannot possibly disagree - he is dead. It is amazing how little some people know about a subject but they still feel the need to opine about it.

Uh huh, I'll take that a concession that you overreached with your claim.

Man, every television sitcom is relationship porn for guys. Regular looking husband, generally very attractive wife. In fact, this is so common in movies, it can't even be considered a trope as much as it is a backbone to American cinema.

Oddly enough, they needed to add a pair of large breasts to get men to watch Star Trek Voyager.
Of course it's not easy to jam a lot of relationship "porn" into SciFi. It just does not work.
Well, to be fair, there is virtually no SciFi on television at all. And the best Sci-Fi has struggled like heck to stay on at all (B5, The Expanse, Firefly *sobs*).
Bottom line, men don't watch Oprah. And Doctor Phil, really?
And men generally watch professional wrestling, therefore men don't watch shows with plots?

Outlander series is based on a series of books by a woman author. She wrote the sex scenes in her books. There are a number of interesting things about the show, including a number of role reversals with respect to gender: Claire is older and not a virgin and has to guide Jamie through sex on their wedding night. Claire was a very reluctant bride and had to get drunk to go through the ceremony. Jamie and his male friends arranged the entire ceremony including finding the wedding gown. Later in the series, it is Jamie who is raped. For starters.

Lots of women and girls watch SciFi series on tv, watch SciFi movies , read and write sci-fi books, as well as speculative and fantasy and dystopian genre novels and series. See Margaret Atwood, Octavia Butler, Ursula LeGuin, Julian May, and dozens more. A woman, Mary Shelley, can arguably be the first SciFi author.

Men tend to only watch/read what heavily features male protagonists, so I can understand your ignorance here.

wait, what? You mean it’s not true that any man who looks like Shia LaBeouf can get a woman who looks like Megan Fox? Thats not normal?!??
