The liberal media is running with headlines about Joel Greenberg, supposedly Matt's buddy, who's accused of ... accused of what exactly? Drinking champagne with women and offering to give them taxi-fare home? I suppose liberals would give the girl beer and dump her at the curb when finished. And the way the FBI caught on to Greenberg is pretty amusing: In the best tradition of Republican stars like Karl Rove, Roger Stone and Scotus luminaries like Brett Kavanaugh and John Roberts, Greenberg created false accusations against his political opponent. Brilliant!! But instead of taking this like a man, the opponent went whining to the FBI.

Obviously Mr. Gaetz is innocent of these weird accusations:

I don't see how he can be clearer than that. He didn't say "almost innocent," or "probably innocent," or "sort of innocent." He didn't challenge his enemies to define the meaning of "is", like real sex offenders do. He's innocent — the innocent target of liberals and their perverse political correctness.

And what if the accusations are true? Matt Gaetz had sex with a woman. Big deal! A young virile man having sex with a 17-year old is not illegal in many jurisdictions. It's not like she was the 15-year old who fornicated with Bill Clinton or Al Franken in the Oval Office.

Gaetz has bent over backwards to obey the law. Florida has a Puritanical 18-year age of consent? He flies his girlfriend to Georgia, or Louisiana or Mississippi or any enlightened state with a more rational age of consent. A cheapskate Democrat would have forged a fake ID, or, worse, made the love-starved girl wait until her birthday.

The Daily Beast: Gaetz associate wrote in letter that congressman paid for sex with minor

Washington (CNN)Joel Greenberg, a central figure in the ongoing investigation into Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, wrote in a letter obtained by The Daily Beast that he and Gaetz paid for sex with multiple women, including a minor who was 17 at the time.

The letter was drafted after Greenberg asked Roger Stone, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, for help obtaining a pardon during the final months of Trump's term, the outlet reported.

"On more than one occasion, this individual was involved in sexual activities with several of the other girls, the congressman from Florida's 1st Congressional District and myself," Greenberg wrote in the letter in reference to the minor, according to The Daily Beast.

"From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18. I did see the acts occur firsthand and Venmo transactions, Cash App or other payments were made to these girls on behalf of the Congressman."

You can credibly accuse Matt Gaetz of a lot of things, but overthinking is not one of them. It never occurred to any of them there might be a day when they would need to explain what they did, or why.

As the great philosopher Mendacious said, "You can't lie to someone who doesn't trust you." Gaetz assumed he had the trust of everyone and as a consequence, saw no need for elaborate reuses to cover up their activities. I'm sure he understood that various technical violations of the law were in progress, but the idea of anyone in authority would ever be concerned, simply wasn't real to them.

Rep. Matt Gaetz Snorted Cocaine With Escort Who Had ‘No Show’ Gov’t Job

When Rep. Matt Gaetz attended a 2019 GOP fundraiser in Orlando, his date that night was someone he knew well: a paid escort and amateur Instagram model who led a cocaine-fueled party after the event, according to two witnesses.

The Florida congressman’s one-time wingman, Joel Greenberg, will identify that escort to investigators as one of more than 15 young women Gaetz paid for sex, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

But what distinguishes this woman, Megan Zalonka, is that she turned her relationship with Greenberg into a taxpayer-funded no-show job that earned her an estimated $7,000 to $17,500, according to three sources and corresponding government records obtained by The Daily Beast.

On Oct. 26, 2019, Gaetz attended the “Trump Defender Gala” fundraiser as the featured speaker at the Westgate Lake Resort in Orlando. Two witnesses present recalled friends reconvening at Gaetz’s hotel room for an after-party, where Zalonka prepared lines of cocaine on the bathroom counter. One of those witnesses distinctly remembers Zalonka pulling the drugs out of her makeup bag, rolling a bill of cash, and joining Gaetz in snorting the cocaine.

While The Daily Beast could not confirm that Gaetz and Zalonka had sex that night, two sources said the pair had an ongoing financial relationship in exchange for sex. "She was just one of the many pieces of arm candy he had,” said one source familiar with the encounters between Gaetz and Zalonka.
