Holy Shiiite! A presidential candidate arranged to meet with foreign leaders before an election. That never happens.

Did people from Obama's team take money from these countries in exchange for policy favors and then lie to the FBI about it--to include dirt on other candidates and then lie about that, too? Then, when asked about it, did Obama lie?

But... but... both sides are exactly as bad! Both sides are exactly as bad! [/conservolibertarian]

It takes a special kind of "logic" to equate meeting with allies and meeting with adversaries. Perhaps you could explain how the two are the same?
So your theory is that the Trump campaign planned to collude with the Russians by having a high level meeting with Putin. Clever.
No, I asked for an explanation for your seeminly ridiculous equivalence of meeting with allies and meeting with adversaries. Your apparent explanation is a non-sequitur.

Quick, bring up Ben Gozzy!

Buttery mails!

They didn't actually meet before the election, ya know.

Not for lack of trying, ya know.

A "back channel" would normally be the way to set up these sorts of meetings, right? Unless you're already president, that is.

And for what purpose? To discuss foreign policy? (That would have been illegal ya know)
Or to arrange for profiteering? (Maybe not as illegal, but unethical immoral and possibly treasonous, ya know.)
Please do explain the "innocent" reason(s) for meeting with the head of State of a foreign adversary.

This is big news or at least it would be big news if it weren't overshadowed by interestingly timed other news. I hope also whistleblower is not a plant. I completely don't trust Twitler at this point--he's diabolical.
I'm curious as to the source of the messages here. Paranoia definitely is out there regarding the disinformation campaigns of Trump and O'Keefe.

What is the social etiquette of sending emails while you're onstage with a new President while he's giving his inauguration speech?

On the one hand, it seems somewhat rude and disrespectful and you should be listening and paying attention. On the other hand, if you're in his Cabinet, your job started as soon as he was sworn in and it's nice that you're getting to work instead of sitting there listening to the lies of a crazy buffoon while you're on the taxpayers' dime.

Wasn't it a very short speech too?

Wasn't it a very short speech too?

The speech was, am I'm quite serious, the best length that an inauguration speech could possibly be. It wasn't so short that it reminded people of Little Marco Rubio and they all got disgusted and it wasn't so long that it reminded people of Donald Trump's ... hands ... and everyone started feeling sad about how inadequate they are in comparison. It was just perfect, like watching your daughter walk around the kitchen in the morning wearing her bathrobe.

It was the single greatest length of any inauguration speech anyone has ever given ever.

How Trump’s skepticism of U.S. intelligence on Russia left an election threat unchecked - Washington Post

Long story on Russia's election interference operation and Trump's (Russia coddling) response. One notable tidbit on an intelligence briefing to Trump in January:

Following a rehearsed plan, Clapper functioned as moderator, yielding to Brennan and others on key points in the briefing, which covered the most highly classified information U.S. spy agencies had assembled, including an extraordinary CIA stream of intelligence that had captured Putin’s specific instructions on the operation.

Meh. Unless there is full A/V with a date stamp, of Vlad instructing his minions, 'they' won't believe it. Prolly the translator was an anti-trump activist and it was really about that night's dinner plans.

There is a boatload of of selection bias there.
They mention Yuri Milner, who is pretty apolitical and friend of Zuckerberg and if anything is pro democratic party guy.
Rybolovlev bought some mansion which was owned by Trump, true, but unless he overpaid it means nothing, and he is not known to have any associations with Putin or anything.
