Merged So what's next for Trump?

To denote when two or more threads have been merged
Trump seems to have screwed his very own self royally in the Mar-A-Lago classified documents case. It is sort of like the dumbass little criminal that commits a robbery and brags about it in a rap song on social media.

.....
Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, he cited a Sunday Washington Post article that claimed the Justice Department had obtained new evidence that proves obstructions of justice in the classified case.

Before that report, Trump could reasonably claim that he knew nothing about the documents, the report said. He could say his staff had packed them into boxes when he moved from the White House, without Trump's knowledge.

But if he was showing them off to visitors, that argument would be killed.
....

I've never bought into the "other guy is worse" thing. In the case of Trump supporters, it was a cover for voting for a racist misogynist, whose career demonstrated a disdain for the rule of law.
Do you think that the supporters of Trump voted for him because he's a racist, misogynist and whose career demonstrated a disdain for the rule of law?

Or do you think the lack of faith in the existing political elite is so strong that they're desperate for anyone to come in an change things around?

BTW, USA is extremely rich. It's much richer than any other country by magnitudes. USA used to be dirt poor. Just 200 years ago USA was a shithole. So it's interesting that faith in USA's political elites is so low. Obviously, someone in charge of USA, at some point, did something right and then it kept going, because USA is still the richest country on Earth.

And again, the REAL threat to Trump comes out of Washington where the Jack Smith Grand Jury will now hear from a bunch of Secret Service agents about the classified documents Trump stole and stashed at Mar-a-Lago, maybe as early as Friday. And while Sean Hannity tries to shush him, Trump not only confesses he did what the latest reports accused him of (rifling through the boxes and keeping the secret documents he wanted to keep) he even simplifies the motive we've all been kept up at night worrying about. He notes with the gleam of avarice, “They ended up paying Nixon 18 million for what HE had!”
.....

Well, this is interesting. And Keith Olberman reports the 34 charges against Trump in the Stormy Daniels case are all felonies. Great thundering Cthulhu! This sounds serious. Tomorrow we may find out if that is true.

Yep
Or do you think the lack of faith in the existing political elite is so strong that they're desperate for anyone to come in an change things around?
Trump supporters will say that, because they've been told that. But ask them a few questions and it's pretty fucking obvious they love the concept of a political elite. Any criticism towards their messiah is Lese Majeste. Google "Ted Cruz Tucker Carlson Jan 6" to see an example. Or "McCarthy Mar-a-largo" for another.

All Trump supporters want is for someone to tell them, "It's okay to be a bigoted scumbag", and Trump definitely gives that to them. Ironically, they're the prudish Americans you are so critical towards also. Do your research ;) .

If this is how you see your political opponents, good luck getting any kind of dialogue going.

Yes, a dialogue. The party that won't allow America to pay for the stuff they voted for... are so open for a dialog. And those members of the GOP are the sane ones.

Over half of them in the House voted to undo the election in 2020.

Yeah, dialog.

If you think the American political system has broken down to the point where dialogue is a waste of time, then perhaps other Americans also agree feel that way? Which can explain why so many Americans voted for a guy who wanted to shake things up, ie Trump.

I will take this further. Most [male] Trump supporters want to be him, they aspire to be rich, pay no taxes, have sex with porn stars and to brag about it, saying anything they want at any time with no repercussions (especially being openly racist). They think that the Dems are "political elites" because they are too uneducated to understand even the most basics of civics. They have no understanding of science and the scientific method, yet they take to their computers every evening with Fox "news" on in the same room to spread the most vitriolic and vile misinformation. To them Trump is a Super Hero. And they are part of a cult. Brainwashed, hero worshipping cult.

It's a game. A game for all the marbles. It's us versus them. And having the leader of your team dispense with diplomatic niceties and publicly deride the other team is what they want to hear. If Trump was out and Marjorie Taylor Green was in, they would absolutely swoon over her candidacy. She would call to slash social services and direct that money towards building the wall. She would run over DeSantis like a freight train.
In an us versus them competition, a large portion of fans become rabid. They go overboard. They get dressed up. They paint their faces. They decorate their vehicles. They are all in for the team. They are ungracious winners and sore losers. Trump rallies are like tailgate parties to them. It's great fun.
They cannot view the world beyond their own needs and desires. They are xenophobic and isolationists because to them this is what holds them back and the country back, the other people that suck up social services and then succeed where they have failed. This is money that should be spent at home. And this is not unique to the United States, is it?

But who sees the world beyond our own needs and desires?

I somehow doubt they'd describe themselves in the same way you do. Until you make an effort to describe them as real humans, they're going to stay as a "them".

We have the same kind of people in Sweden/Scandinavia. So it's not like your problem is unique.

In my experiences conservatives check their own bank account. If there's more money in it they're happy. If it's less, they're annoyed. Like it or not, that's an excellent metric to see how our leader is doing. Obviously, the economy, is more complicated than the acts of a single prime minister/president in one term. But we have few other ways to, personally, measure how good our leader is.

While I lean firmly into the liberal camp. I do find the cynicism of the conservatives refreshing. Their down to earth attitude makes us liberals do more than just speak eloquently. So I think you are unfair in your depiction of them

Excellent point. I lack the necessary skills to communicate with people who think I am part of a global conspiracy to give the blood of infants to Hillary, Bill Gates and the Pope.

Nice to see my "Do your research" reference went right over your head.

Yeah, I kinda have a problem with people who want to lock up Joe Biden because Agent Orange says they should demand it, while wanting to release violent insurrectionists and traitors for supporting a twice impeached, once (and counting) indicted criminal mobster trying to steal another presidential election.

You’re right, Z. I have no words to share with them, I want them shut out of our political process before they cause it to no longer exist.
If you get your head screwed on straight, you might even be able to see that your neighbors -and likely your Country will all be under Soviet control by 2030 if Cheato gets re-elected.

He isn’t prosecuting federal crimes, duh.
He is bringing up felony charges based on an alleged federal crime. If a judge disallows that, the whole case collapses.

If he could stop cheats like Cheato he might have more funds to go after window breakers and shoplifters.
His lack of felony prosecution for armed robbers is not due to lack of funds, but due to his far-left ideology.
But you’re probably thinking he should get the muggers, and leave the mobsters alone to steal from EVERYONE.
Why not both? What he should not do is go after political opponents for political reasons.
If Bragg didn‘t believe he would win his case based on the evidence he probably wouldn’t have risked his career on it.
I doubt voters in Manhatten will vote him out because he was gunning for Trump and missed.
They should vote him out for his attitudes about violent crime.
And I know it’s barely possible, but you should consider that he might know more about that than you do.
Does Bragg know more about law than I do? Of course he does.
Does he care far less about law than about politics? Equally emphatically: of course he does.
re: "Does [Bragg] care far less about law than about politics? Equally emphatically: of course he does." Here we have an example of a question begging epithet: "of course".

From a European perspective I think this "scandal" reads like this. Trump is awesome and fucks porn stars. Democrats are pathetic moralists who can't deal with a guy enjoying life a little.

This entire indictment makes USA look bad.
You're missing the whole point.

The case isn't about his fucking a porn star. It is about the illegal actions done to cover up the fact that he fucked a porn star.

And why would he need to do that unless a lot of Americans are boring prudes? Do you remember when women who slept around were considered sluts? That's a value that hasn't aged well. Seeing this with my glasses the entire indictment looks like slut-shaming. The point is that a grown man shouldn't have to hide having sex on the side. But here we are.

Trumpo the Clown has ben playing the religious charleton to woo the Q-tards. And the Bible commands the death penalty for adultery.to not commit adultery is one of the oh so very important ten commandments. Trump knew all of this. That is why he payed $130,000 to buy Stormy Daniel's silence. Committing crimes to do so. If the religio-tards are going to buy into Leviticus 20 to make a crusade against gays, they have no right then to not go to war on adultery, condemned in the same set of verses, when some adulterer like Trump proclaims himself falsely to be oh so very Christian.
Yes, the problem with prudishness in America, which helped motivate Trump's payoffs, has more to do with the evangelical right-wing and its brand of virtue signalling than with left woke virtue signalling--now a school principal has been fired from a charter school in Florida for defending the showing of an image of Michelangelo's David in an art class. Parents complained you see, and the demographic of those parents would be a Trump-leaning demographic. No wonder America looks odd to Europe.

I suppose the irony now is that it appears Trump is arguing he didn't screw Daniels and he was being extorted.

Which is why she needed sign a NDA with the payment so she wouldn't tell people about the sex she didn't have with Trump.

There were 11 separate checks sent to Cohen through the fake “retainer” arrangement. Most were signed by Trump. Each would count as a separate crime.

And I believe the number of checks was to keep the amounts small enough to keep out of the eyes of regulators, which makes it wire fraud.

Or he is bringing up State felony charges. I get sick of spoon feeding your ignorance. We will find out in a few hours if Bragg is stupider than you or not.
