Merged So what's next for Trump?

It would be delicious if he got indicted for the most serious charges while he’s being read the charges for the least of them.

He was saying the protests would be hyuge, but ...

it looks like everyone showed up just for the spectacle, except for Karen.

Second Karen lays down on a Trump Lies All the Time sign to protest it.

Wtf is she doing? Looks like a cross between a fart and a Heil Hitler.

I've never bought into the "other guy is worse" thing. In the case of Trump supporters, it was a cover for voting for a racist misogynist, whose career demonstrated a disdain for the rule of law.
Do you think that the supporters of Trump voted for him because he's a racist, misogynist and whose career demonstrated a disdain for the rule of law?

Or do you think the lack of faith in the existing political elite is so strong that they're desperate for anyone to come in an change things around?
Some of his supporters voted for him because he shared their racist and/or misogynist views. Some of his supported voted for him because they feel left behind and wanted change. Some of his supporters voted for him because he was not a Democrat or liberal. Some of his supporters voted for him because they had lost faith in the "elite" (even though Trump is a member of the "elite").

I would guess there is overlap between all 4 groups. Why do you think there is a necessary dichotomy between them?

Best case scenario, Trump flees to Russia after being booked and his followers go after him.
Best case scenario, He gets on the elevator with George Santos, it fails on the way up and crashes to the basement?

Let's keep it going... what's YOUR "best case scenario"?

I think Dr. Z is also conflating voting for and supporting. Trump's supporters are die hard wanna live back in the 30's Americans. They are intolerant political imbeciles who pine for the glory days of yesteryear, most of which never existed. Nor can they even explain why they support Trump. The most diehard are lunatics who followed QAnon.

Then you have most of the conservatives, who begrudgingly voted for Trump because SCOTUS and can't let a Democrat win.

There were a very small number of conservatives that didn't vote for Trump. The GOP hate Trump, the GOP love the money Trump can manage to raise even when being indicted! The base, which in large part has been swilling up the AM Radio / Cable news propaganda for 20 to 30 years. So much so, they have no rational understanding of the United States.

That doesn't address his cult followers.
He says they'll follow him anywhere!
Do you have any idea how long it'd take that many people to mobilize to that building, go up the stairs and then jump down the elevator shaft?

I can wait. And, talk about must-see TV!

I heard MTG got shouted down at the Trump indictment protest so she left.

From CNN. Trump's horrible, no good, very bad day.

.....
Trump’s team on Monday night asked for the appeals court to wipe away a lower court’s ruling that would force several of his top advisers to answer questions to a grand jury investigating Trump and his allies’ attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, despite his claims of legal protections around his presidency that would shield some of their testimony.

The appeals court denied his request on Tuesday, dealing Trump another legal setback just before he is set to enter a courtroom in Manhattan to face criminal charges in a separate investigation.

12:10 p.m. Democratic New York congressman Jamaal Bowman criticized Marjorie Taylor Greene for protesting Donald Trump’s arraignment. “Go back to your district. What are you doing here? You’re here for politics, you’re here because you want to be VP, you’re here for your own fundraising, you’re here for your own nonsense,” he said in a scrum with reporters late this morning.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene speaks briefly amid shouts

11:30 a.m. (updated) Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene quickly left a protest after being shouted down by anti-Trump protesters. Greene was speaking to supporters of Trump at Collect Pond Park while facing a swarm of counter-protesters and media.

A large crowd surrounded the Georgia Republican, once shunned by the GOP as a political pariah for her extremist rhetoric, as she made her way through a park.

In video of the remarks, Greene thanked “patriotic Trump supporters who are here today." She called Republicans “the party of peace” and called Democrats “the party of violence.”

Trump pleads guilty. Says he is sorry for his actions and feels it is necessary to take responsibility. After the arraignment was finished, Trump led a group prayer outside the courtroom, asking God for humility and strength to manage through this for him and his family. He then helped an elderly woman cross the street and gave a homeless man the watch he was wearing.
