The evidence strongly suggests it's the Republicans who are trying to rig the election!

I seriously doubt many MAGAtards actually believe the 2020 election was stolen.

I believe quite strongly that most, if not all, MAGAtards are a bunch of dishonest cunts who believe spouting that lie is the best way to achieve what they want - facts be damned.
They are also part of a cult, so they have to agree with the Big Lie to remain a good standing member of the cult.

What can be done prevent such attempts from being done?

Marc Elias (founder of Democracy Docket) is one of the people working to prevent the destruction of democracy, I highly respect anyone in this line of work.

I love a recent article he wrote: Trump is helping sabotage his chances of winning by instilling fears in his Republician voters that mail in ballots are unreliable and full of fraud. Because in person voting is more difficult and time consuming for many people, this could cause some Republician supporters not to vote at all, fearful that the mail in ballot is full of fraud, but ends up being unable or unwilling to get to the polls on election day. It only takes a tiny percentage in key areas to tip the election.

Thank goodness Trump is incompetent in some areas of election strategy. It just might save the country.

I suspect you’re right, but admonish myself to remember:
Never assign to malice that which stupidity is sufficient to explain.”

The thing that worries me isn't as much Trump winning again. It'd be the look the nation in the mirror moment, in that the nation elected him twice.

Right now I feel like this is climate change, as in we are passed trying to stop it and must face the reality we are in now.

We have posters here angry about Hunter Biden lining his pockets via his Dad's position in office while Trump is lining his pockets and giving milliona of campaigb dollara to his attorneys.

It makes no sense anymore.

Continuing with the Republicans have no intention of this being a fair election... Been in Arizona for over 20 years? We don't believe you are truly registered to vote. Are all laws retroactive now? And fuck, this is right at the line! Like having a marathon and right before the start goes off, someone says they should check to make certain the course is 26.2 miles.

article said:
A key election official in Arizona’s Maricopa County plans to ask the state’s highest court as early as Tuesday to prohibit nearly 100,000 longtime residents from voting in state and local races this fall after discovering the state has no record of asking them for documents proving their U.S. citizenship.

Like other states, Arizona requires voters to swear that they are citizens when they register to vote. But for 20 years, Arizona law has gone further and required residents to show birth certificates, naturalization papers or other documents proving citizenship to vote in state and local elections.

...

In his lawsuit, Richer plans to ask that the voters in question receive ballots that contain only federal races, including for president. Fontes, the secretary of state, wants the court to allow voters to receive full ballots that include federal and state races — just as they always have.
Stephan Richer should not be confused with the former Canadien / Devil / etc... NHL hockey player who scored 50+ goals in a season twice.

I didn't want to start a new thread to post this so I'm hoping this is slightly related.

These GOP ads included anodyne images of “women in softly lit living rooms and pristine kitchens vouching for their husbands’ characters,” “a wholesome family gathering around the dining room table,” and moms “driving S.U.V.s with young children in the back seat as they stop for gas and groceries, talking about how their husbands are champions for their families, and can be champions for yours, too.”

So what do you do if you’re running for Congress with an R after your name but don’t have your own wife and kids?

If you’re Derrick Anderson, a candidate running in an open race for Virginia’s seventh congressional district, you borrow a wife and daughters from a friend.

It makes no sense anymore.
It’s weird- they begrudge Hunter the $50k/mo job. $600k/yr.
Meanwhile Jared gets “gifted” TWO THOUSAND TIMES A MILLION DOLLARS (explained longhand for our numerically challenged Trumpers).
And the whiners don’t blink an eye.
Hypocrisy is their life.

I don't know, but that seems a little... weird. I've heard of wife swapping, but not wife photoshopping.

They have also taken in more than 100 million dollars in "fees" from the Saudis and have not paid one red cent in dividends, interest, etc..

If this isn't a situation screaming out loud for an investigation I don't know what is.

Especially by the Saudis themselves. And Jared might want to think about how the Saudis are known to solve problems with people out of disfavor.

Here's more attempts at voter suppression the Republicans are up to. It's a long article that I'm sharing, so please read it or most of it, assuming y'all can read. ;)
Yeah, the standard Republican approach: create as much confusion as possible.

The federal government needs to mandate states share their data. And mail drop addresses should explicitly be permitted for those who are living an itinerant life. We explicitly recognize this with the military, defining them as being in the state where they were when they ceased to have a permanent address. We should do the same thing for anyone lacking a stable address. Note that it's not always homeless people--some people temporarily live on the road for a variety of reasons, some even quasi-permanently. (A job that's 100% travel. Some people in such a position choose to not maintain a residence anywhere.) When it's the more well to do they usually have some family member to act as the mail drop and nobody would notice, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

And mail drop addresses should explicitly be permitted for those who are living an itinerant life.
This sounds to me like it would lead to MORE misuse and voter fraud. Anyone can claim to live 'an itinerant life'.
But you still need to be a citizen. You can't just put bogus information on the form and expect to be able to vote!

. There is so much of this crap going on by the Republicans, most likely to try and make naive and low information people believe that our elections are not fair. it's rather sickening.
I can clearly remember 50+ years ago (before I was old enough to vote and televisions were mostly black and white) when the US voting system worked and both parties had faith in it. I can remember when everyone in my neighborhood came to vote at my school and believe or not the winner of a POTUS race (even when it was close) was officially determined even before my bedtime! That SAME day.

That doesn't happen anymore mostly because no one trusts the other party and neither party can even agree what a fair election looks like. You would think electronic machines would be banned simply because they leave no paper trail. And you would think everyone should come with a drivers license or equivalent since everywhere else that would be standard. And you would also think that mail in ballots should be an exception and not the rule. But the Democrats and Republicans can't even agree to that! To the most fundamental and common sense safeguards.

Are the Republicans and Democrats cheating? Almost everyone on both sides thinks there is cheating so why not at least agree to make the system better? And it wouldn't take a lot of effort and money......just go back to exactly the way we used to vote with the same equipment because that worked.

The way it worked during Jim Crow, you mean?
Jim Crow laws were overturned in 1965 and have nothing to do with the price of tea. Voting still worked good for another 50 years after that. When it comes to voting technology and lack of a paper trail has mostly been the issue IMO.

1965+50=2015

So, basically, voting "worked good" for every presidential election, until Trump turned up and destroyed everybody's confidence in the system?

You might be on to something there.

So you wish to recreate the circumstances of the 1988 election, perhaps?

I don’t think that’s going to fix selling polling data to spies, gerrymandering, alternate elector schemes, lying about voting machines, or the Republicans caught and charged with giving unauthorized access to voting machines, or for that matter just outright lying about voting machines.

On the other hand several court cases brought forward by republicans claiming voting fraud have all failed.

This is not a both sides issue. Not even close.
