The Race For 2024

Seems the guilty verdict hasn't done much harm to Trump's chances of being elected POTUS;

Teflon Don rides again, according to an exclusive snap poll for DailyMail.com which found that the guilty verdict in Manhattan only improved the former president's standing with likely voters ahead of the 2024 election. Of those who said the 34 guilty counts had changed their view of Donald Trump, 22 percent said they now had a more favorable rating compared with 16 percent who said they viewed him more negatively. That six-point net positive result is another sign of the way the businessman-turned-politician seems able to ride out crises that would sink anyone else.

Slight increase and apparently his coffers are swelling with eager supporters flinging cash at him.

Nice job dems, is this what you expected, wanted?

For your claim to have merit, you have to be assuming that the 22% who now view him more favorably are NEW voters for him. I don’t think there’s any support for that. Like, at all. This one is a stretch to assume that a single one of those was previously a Biden voter but is now a trump voter because they like him being convicted.

And you’d further have to assume that the 16% were not already voting for Biden. While many, most or even all probably were alreadsy voting for Biden, polls with better questions, and by that I mean competent questions that can be used to draw conclusions, have shown that there is a contingent of Trump voters who would no longer vote for him.

Meanwhile, it goes without saying that for your claim to have merit, it should refrain friom relying on a Daily Mail Snap Poll.

Hey, don't be mad at me because Brandon is struggling against a convicted felon.

I don’t think you have any data to make this claim, since he has only been a convicted felon for 24 hours. So this claim seems to be a fabricated fantasy based on a poor analysis of a Daily Mail Snap Poll.

Relax, it's only The Daily Mail. I don't think it needs a forensic analysis. Polls are not very helpful anyway. The poll that really matters happens in November.

You can certainly look at it that way. But I think we can all agree that the election is going to be very close. Even though one of the candidates is a convicted felon.

Optimism is good but unfortunately I tend to pessimism. (Is this chemical imbalance in brain?) I fear tears will be flowing in November
With a certainty.
Yes. The open question is "whose tears?".
Dumb fucking question. No one benefits from a Trump presidency, not even his idiot supporters.
No but his financial supporters, foreign and domestic, would absolutely benefit. At least in terms of money and power. Which is all they care about.

Ex UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has his say;

Whaaat??? How can anyone survive that? By all the laws of politics the Trump campaign should today be a smoking ruin.
He's a felon. He's a criminal – and he is the first president in US history to be convicted of such ostensibly serious offences. Every time that jury foreman pronounced the word 'Guilty' in the Manhattan court on Thursday, he should by all normal logic have been dealing a death-blow to Donald Trump's hopes of regaining the White House. He said it not just once but 34 times. This was no ordinary political assassination. This was a machine-gun mob-style hit-job on Trump.
Surely no one would vote for a convicted felon – let alone one who might actually begin his term of office in the New York correctional facility in Sing Sing. Surely this was the end of his poll lead, they said. Surely this was the end of his run altogether...
And then the first poll appeared. To the evident amazement of the pundits it appeared that most voters were indifferent to the verdict – by quite a large majority. But at least in the poll I saw there was an astonishing 15 per cent who were now more likely to vote for him, after the conviction, than they were before. The American people have looked at this case, and in spite of all the portentous claims about its HISTORIC importance, they have concluded that it was, by and large, a load of stunted-up old nonsense.

Yup. Murkins are stupid.
56% think the economy is in a recession because RW propaganda says so.
The numbers and all objective measures say the economy is booming like never before. If Trump ever had such numbers he’d still be talking about it. But Trump tells you you are suffering, so you suffer.
🤷‍♂️

Trump’s a clown but the obsequious self serving bootlicking toads falling all over themselves - that’s just disgusting. Not the there’s anything wrong with it, but I don’t need to see it.

Hey, don't be mad at me because Brandon is struggling against a convicted felon.
so, that’s a “no”. Thanks.
Sure, Jan.
Haha!! Your go-to response when you have nothing intelligible to say.

It’s a go-to response when people attribute meaning to something I say where no such meaning was expressed.
The question was whether you had an actual argument and as yet you have not presented one. Feel feee to provide it when you think one up.

I’ve seen some hand wringing about polls saying that some people are more likely to vote for trump after the conviction.

Honestly, think for just a moment about who would say that. Anyone who loves trump so much that this makes them love him more was going to vote for his pasty ass anyway. Not one person who was on the fence about him would be like “well now that he is a felon, I am in!” that just doesn’t make sense — even in MAGA world. That guy in the American Flag onesie on X saying that this is going to get him to vote for trump is lying. That man was always voting for trump.

Interesting tidbit:

* The polls are up for The Donald! Six point bump in approval rating since conviction!! GO DONALD!!!

But when the chips are down? Not so much. Two days ago Predictit had Trump 51 to Biden 46. Today it's 50 to 47.
And a bet for which party wins the presidency, Dems are favored 51 - 50. (Those are the costs in cents for a bet to win a dollar)

So it looks like the mouths say one thing and their wallets say another.

“Please don’t make us report you to President Trump!”

Texas Republicans reportedly received a warning through a flyer sent to their homes before Tuesday’s primary runoff election. Viral posts on Reddit indicate that recipients in Victoria and Denton, spanning the opposite ends of Southeast and Northeast Texas, received this mailer.

“We see you haven’t voted yet,” the mailer notes. “Your voting record is public. … Your neighbors are watching and will know if you miss this critical runoff election. We will notify President Trump if you don’t vote. You can’t afford to have that on your record.”

The unofficial election notice claims the group will be “sending an official list of Republicans who fail to vote in the upcoming runoff to President Trump.” The mailer then promises to follow up after the election to ensure people voted.

Exclusive: One in 10 Republicans less likely to vote for Trump after guilty verdict, Reuters/Ipsos poll finds

WASHINGTON, May 31 (Reuters) - Ten percent of Republican registered voters say they are less likely to vote for Donald Trump following his felony conviction for falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to a porn star, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed on Friday.
The two-day poll, conducted in the hours after the Republican presidential candidate's conviction by a Manhattan jury on Thursday, also found that 56% of Republican registered voters said the case would have no effect on their vote and 35% said they were more likely to support Trump, who has claimed the charges against him are politically motivated and has vowed to appeal.

The potential loss of a tenth of his party's voters is more significant for Trump than the stronger backing of more than a third of Republicans, since many of the latter would be likely to vote for him regardless of the conviction.
Among independent registered voters, 25% said Trump's conviction made them less likely to support him in November, compared to 18% who said they were more likely and 56% who said the conviction would have no impact on their decision.

Does that stack with the 1 in 5 Republicans still voting for Nikki Haley?
