The Virus - Are You Affected?

Churches are one of the worst places to be. Churches and gyms.

Care homes are the worst places to be.

And if you’re that worried about it, stay home.

The people in the care homes are staying home all the time. They're dying anyway because of those they come into contact with.

We can't always stay home--since this blew up I have had to venture out for a water heater and we have had an AC repairman come (AC isn't optional when the temps are generally over 105.) We have also both been to the dentist. You can wear a fucking mask rather than be a plague rat, though.

My mom's assisted living has not had a case in almost 2 months. We were now able to take her out. Today i got her and we all sat at least 6 feet apart in lawn chairs under the shade of the trees in my side yard.

Mom was very happy to get out and finally get to see all of us. Me, my wife and my 3 teenagers. We all had our masks.

Tomorrow i will take the kids to my mom's old house. We need to mow the lawn. We'll figure out how to use the rider mower. They have as much land as I do we we are unlikely to see anyone closer than at least 50 yards.

My aunt has been moved to the ICU and is on a ventilator. The hospital is badly overcrowded, they waited half the day for a bed to become available. Her husband has a sore throat, so he wasn't allowed in; as I understand it, he's spending the night in the parking lot.

Two of my students have reported symptoms this week, and one was diagnosed. Four others have family members with the illness, that I know of.

Who is not affected? 244,814 active cases (673,165 in all), 19268 dead. Here in Delhi, people like me (over 65 years of age), and children below 10 are not supposed to go out of their houses. It has been 3 months and 10 days now. Cigarettes are not available.

Politesse, I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope she recovers fully.

I have one sister who claims to have been infected by COVID-19, with minimal symptoms. She isn’t offering any testing proof though. She also states that she was infected BECAUSE she wore a mask  I find it very hard to believe her as last week she also shared a Youtube video which says that the COVID-19 pandemic is a lie propagated by Luciferians, Freemasons, and the Illuminati. After I saw that, I admit I totally lost it and told her that was the most ignorant thing I had ever seen. She hasn’t shared anything else since then. She and her daughter live in Kansas, and they are loudly protesting the new state order mandating masks in public.

On the other hand, another sister and her husband were both very ill in February with a respiratory illness that our local doctors could not diagnose. My brother-in-law is a kidney transplant recipient and was gravely ill for weeks. My sister is a very healthy person but she missed two weeks of work due to illness. I suspect they were both infected with COVID-19 but there is no way of proving that at this point, since antibody tests are not entirely reliable. After reading how they suffered, there is no way I want to take the chance that I might become infected with this too.

Sweden's permissive attitude was a waste of time, money and lives.

My interpretation is that countries economies are so interconnected that its a waste of time for small countries to go their own way. If your neighbours are doing something then you do it to
Article is behind a paywall. But it's the New York Times so a distortion of reality is to be expected.
TSwizzle, I thought that you believed in capitalism.

Maybe it's a meterwall, but it's letting me in.

Just because the Times doesn't march to His Flatulence's tune doesn't make it wrong.

Its famous for being one of the world's most accurate newspapers. So what other source have you got that is more reliable?

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- With Jacksonville announcement on allowing only 25% capacity into the stadium for NFL games this year, America clearly remains in denial about the Covid-19 pandemic.

The announcement further indicated that fans attending games would need to wear masks. Which furthered the painfully obvious, America was deluded if they thought they would be able to have football games played at all, forget being able to attend football games at all.

Soccer matches restarted about a month ago in Europe, however, in all of those countries, games didn't restart before the number of new daily Covid-19 cases were very small. And even then, there is a large amount of testing and protocols taken to allow players to play. In America, at this moment, Covid-19 cases are soaring, indicating that being near that low on the curve by September is a remarkably impossible dream to have unless you are in denial.

Dr. Deborah Elling, a psychologist, noted that this behavior is typical of people that are desperate for sports. "To be hearing this from a team in Florida, of all places, is typical," noted Dr. Elling. People are willing to lie to themselves because life without fantasy football and late Monday nights in the Fall is akin to torture for them. So denial is a psychological mechanism the brain uses to handle the trauma of no NFL this fall."
