Just breaking within last half hour. There are fatalities. Looked like a Home Depot rental truck. The driver is in custody.

This means it's time to start your engines and speculate!

*snip*

Whoops... wrong type of bike path. More like the bike lane?

Actually this doesn't look like a bike lane, but a bike path... going back to my original question about bollards.

The problem is that a lot of groups use vans to run people down, so it's tough to immediately leap to an unwarranted opinion that I'd be too obstinate to back down from in the face of overwhelming contradictory evidence.

Let's not jump to conclusions. It could have been hipsters who are using Allahu Akbar ironically.

I used to live on Warren st, many moons ago...rarely went to the waterfront, tho.

"Hey I can see my house from here!"

It says he got the path at Houston st, that's like a mile away.

They're saying it was definitely a terrorist attack.

I was wondering how the truck got so damaged from running into cyclists. Looks like he also ran into a schoolbus.

After crashing the truck, he got out and was holding pellet guns. A cop shot him in stomach.

CNN said:
• The suspect in the New York attack is from the central Asian nation of Uzbekistan and came to the United States in 2010, two law enforcement sources told CNN. A Tampa, Florida, address is connected to him.

• He is in surgery and is expected to survive, a person familiar with the investigation said.

He's a Russian bot ;)

Seriously though, there seems to be no doubt that he is claiming Isis, but not yet any evidence that Isis is claiming him.

He followed the step-by-step "Terrorism for Dummies" article from the english version of Isis' magazine (they have a fucking magazine? :humph: ) in every detail including the note on the dashboard in case he got his ass killed before he could yell the magical terror words.

An AK-47 isn't much use without a magazine.

Jeez, how many terrorist attacks have taken place under Donald Trump's watch? When is he going to get off Twitter (and Hillary) and do something?

So this one was an actual Muslim instead of yet another white conservative terrorist.

But let's not forget the elephant in the room. White people on the internet encourage each other to run over and kill human beings for political reasons, and once in a while one of them actually does it, such as at Charlottesville.

So when are we going to admit that white people are a problem, and what are we going to do about it? Where is the white people travel ban we so obviously need? Are we going to just let more white people enter the country in unrestricted numbers when we know so many of them turn out to be terrorists? What are we supposed to tell the families of the victims the next time white people decide to kill?

"Sorry, but we just didn't feel like protecting America from known terrorists because we were afraid of hurting the feelings of the terrorists." Is that what we're going to say? Are we really going to sacrifice human lives at the altar of political correctness?

Phew, for a minute there I thought this wasn't going to be a chance to blame white people for something.
