Trump Escalates Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric With ‘Poisoning the Blood’ Comment

When asked about immigration in a recent interview, the former president used language with echoes of white supremacy and Hitler.

In words reminiscent of Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Trump claimed yesterday that immigrants were poisoning our blood.

He knows exactly what he is saying. He’s read Hitler’s speeches, keeping a copy of them by his bedside. I know I risk being called out under Godwin’s law for making this comparison, but it fits. This is not the only example of course, but it is perhaps one of his more blatant ones. He demanded that his generals be obedient to him like Nazi generals. He despises anyone with a disability. Just substitute Jews for Mexicans and the comparison is almost complete.

He hasn’t called for us to conquer the rest of the Americas I suppose. He’s also not as competent as Adolf was. But I truly believe he wants to be.

The question is whether remarks like this will impact those inclined to vote for him but who are not true believers. Or maybe will inspire enough people to come out and vote against him.

The exact quote is "They're poisoning the blood of our country." He then goes one to say they are bringing in infection and disease and prior said "they" are coming from prisons.
 
He’s just saying the quiet part out loud. Unless the GOP and “libertarians” speak out in opposition to this then it is fair to assume that they support it.
 
"They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
"Why do we accept more people from shithole countries...Why not more people from Norway?"
"They're poisoning the blood of our country."

How is this any different from a klansman referencing "mud people"? Yet the Trumpies I know never make a squeak about his hate speech. It's not an issue for them, although they will almost uniformly deny he's a racist. Trump's language is fine with his party and with white evangelicals. Their hypocrisy is breathtaking. They're leaving a dark stain on our country that will linger for a long time -- and they deeply deserve the demographic turnabout they're already seeing. (It's the reason they're rejecting the concept of the free election. Expect this trend to get worse.)
