But when it comes to the merging of government and private industry.....Trump is on the other side that is doing most of that. There is a lot to unpack there.

First, San Francisco has backed off the robot killers( SF backs off the use of police robot killers.) But since these robots are not independent thinkers, the original vote was simply to extend the tools the police were allowed to use to kill people. The issue is not the tool, but the tool user. In my view, the real issue there is under what conditions should police be allowed to kill others, not what tool is allowable to do the killing.

Second, I am not confusing nationalism with nazism (I did not bring up Nazism). Nor am I conflating fascism with nationalism. I pointed out Mr. Trump's fascist tendencies - tendencies that you agreed with fascist. Nor did I bring up racism, although I think Mr. Trump's racist past is pretty obvious.

Third, nationalism is an obvious form of "Identity Politics" which you seem to decry.

Fourth, nationalism can very easily lead to fascism.

Fifth, Mr. Trump and the GOP is using an overt "us vs them" pitch to their base - a clear example of "Identity Politics".

Sixth the US population has always been divided over something. This nation has never had a truly homogeneous population in terms of values. FFS, the issue of slavery divided this nation for well over a century, and the issue of the effects of emancipation are still dividing the population today.

Finally, the denoting accurate reporting as "lame stream media" etc.... and overt lying was a hallmark of Mr. Trump.
