I agree, the bigotry and violence have been the exceptions thus far, increasing in 2008 during Barack Hussein's campaign, and then after the election, but nothing like what we're seeing with Trump. He makes outrageous comments, Mexico is not sending us their best but is sending us their rapists etc. Then when the inevitable protests begin, he demonizes them, and plays tough guy. carry them out on stretchers. This naturally gets him more protestes and it all spirals out of control. Quite predictable, unless you are a right winged goofball like Trump. This all has been an American habit since the Civil Rights marches, the Vietnam War protests, Police racism that lead to the rise of the Black Panthers and on and on.

This was just so damned predictable. For the young and angry, this sort of crap is a red flag that will keep them protesting, and the angry dumb Trumpsters are also not going to back down.

All we need is the inevitable spark that starts real trouble. It may well be something a protester does, or something a Trumpster does or some idiot cop. I will not be at all surprised when something goes sour and blood runs in the streets.

Trump does not get this and does not want to get it. But you can bet it that a number of anti-Trump protesters do and want to give Trump and his supporters a chance to lose by going over the top and horrifying the nation. Like the Ghandi march against salt taxes, or the civil rights marchers against the bigots and their police dogs, truncheons and church bombings. This will take down Trump and sound a warning to the other GOP candidates and their lackies.

For a few decades now, people of the type that follow Trump (many of them, anyway) have been told that their racial attitudes and opinions are not welcome in polite, public society. It's isn't socially acceptable in many cases to to be overtly racist anymore. People by and large, are disgusted by this type of behavior and don't want to return to the days of assaulting people of color with guard dogs, or anti-riot gear for peacefully protesting. To display these types of attitudes and opinions is reflective on the character of the bearer of those utterances in a very negative way. Rightfully so.

Now, we have someone who calls this "politically correct speech" and loudly says what these people are thinking. He has become a lens to focus their hate, a point to rally to for those of his ilk. I think many of these people know this is their last chance to try to bring back the type of society they would want to live in.

What angers and upsets me, and honestly makes me embarrassed to be an American is how many there are. They are a minority, but far from an insignificant one. This entire debacle has really, really led me to be terribly disappointed in my homeland.

You're right. We need to continue hammering this point to dissuade his supporters because if there's one thing that the right wing concerns itself with, it's logical consistency.

In a sense, protesting a political figure in this way that shuts down a rally is not really all that desirable, but the reality is, when you are a punk like Trump who says inflammatory things as a major part of his political shtick, this is bound to happen. One then hopes the anti-Trump forces do a righteous job of making Trump miserable all the way to November.
And hopefully it will obviously play a big part in Trump's eventual defeat. And serves as an unmistakable a warning to future political far right figures who think its smart to play the bully and bigot for political gain.

These "protesters" are not merely speaking their mind. That would be fine. They are deliberately trying to shut down Trump's speech because they disagree with it. That is a longstanding tactic among leftist college students who disrupt campus speakers (often pro-Israel ones), preventing them from speaking. That tactic has worked because colleges have been very deferential to left wing radicalism in the recent decades.
