Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

For Hobby Lobby to maintain a profit while firing its entire workforce tells you everything you need to know about Hobby Lobby.

What makes you think it tells him anything?
Immunity to facts is a hallmark of conservotards.
Halfie hasn't even admitted that his is bullshit:

... by April we will be laughing going,
"Remember how everyone panicked over the coronavirus
because the media started fear mongering?"

AOC's performance denouncing the corporate slush fund in the recent aid bill - with her speech replaced by Devo's "Whip It", and wearing a red stepped-cone plastic hat like in the "Whip It" video:

There was someone who made it look like some old newsreel film and used one of Adolf Hitler's speeches. I don't know German, and I don't know any online autotranslators that do voice, so I can't say what it was about. Some variation of "Make Germany Great Again!"?

Apparently this is leadership everyone. This is how to keep everybody calm. An Seoul has 38 million people now. I did not know that.

Interestingly, In Canada it's the right wing politicians and media that are attacking Trudeau for sending supplies to China during the initial outbreak. I cant speak for the Trump admin, but the idea here was to help them contain it as much as possible before it spread. Canada has received medical supplies back since, more than we shipped in the first place.

I agree with the principle, but if one acknowledges that principle, then one should acknowledge it for one's home country as well as for other countries. Trump didn't. One should also acknowledge the necessity of stepping up production of these supplies, but Trump didn't do that either.

He had no sense of "if it's making them sick, then it could make us sick also."

Did he say that or he repeated what reporter said? Also I don't recall any reports of Russia sending medical supplies to US. They sent to Italy, though.

Auntie Maxine takes Trump to the woodshed - The Daily Kos

Maxine Waters on Twitter: "Trump, stop congratulating yourself! You’re a failure & you've mishandled this #COVID19 disaster! You're not knowledgeable & you don’t know more than experts & generals. Your ignorance & incompetence are appalling & you continue to demonstrate that every time you open your mouth!" / Twitter

Maxine Waters on Twitter: "Trump, weren't you taught at an early age that self congratulations are improper? When you're doing a good job, you will be commended. When you have to congratulate yourself it's b/c of incompetence & insecurity. No one values hubris. A lesson you should've learned long ago." / Twitter

Maxine Waters on Twitter: "Trump, since you destroyed the WH unit designed to plan for pandemics like #COVID19, you need to stop being duplicitous about the DPA & get more corps to develop masks, respirators, & everything needed to protect hospital workers trying to save lives. Get your act together!" / Twitter

Maxine Waters on Twitter: "Trump, Gov Whitmer, the governor you called "that woman", is what you think of ALL women, period! We women are all “that woman”! We are mothers & working professionals; we're doctors & lawyers; & we're elected officials, even governors, & you will show us the respect we deserve!" / Twitter

"Auntie Maxine" got a lot of support.

And the excuse for Italy's numbers rising? How often did their President play golf? I'll wait patiently for the answer.

How much golf he played has nothing to do with this. The problem is his denials of the problem that are shown on that list. What you're missing is most leaders fucked this up badly. It appears we have a total of 4 countries that have handled this well: Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and Israel. China messed up at first and used an awfully heavy-handed approach, but they have done a decent job. Everyone else gets an F. (Although in the worst-off parts of the world ignoring it is probably the best course of action. There are two reasons for shutdowns--to reduce the number of people who die from a lack of treatment and to buy time for a treatment/vaccine to be developed. The shitholes of the world don't have much of a medical system in the first place, nor can most people avail themselves of what exists. Delaying catching it isn't going to do anything to improve their prospects and their societies can't function in a shutdown anyway.)

A lot of African and poorere Asian countries are actually in shutdown. Youth can probably find ab updated list online somewhere, just if the top of my head: Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, south Africa, Egypt, Nepal, and if course India.

He said that. 6:10 in the video clip. Seoul now has 38 million people. And it had nothing to do with what the reporter asked. I honestly can't imagine what it's like for these reporters to try and have an adult conference with someone and the replies they get are incoherent gibberish with no relevance to what was asked or discussed,

No idea at all.

I've never seen anyone argue like that.

At all.

Ever.

No one at all.

Honestly.

Those press conferences are garbage, they shouldn't be aired, he's a menace to public health.

You've been posting here since '04 and you haven't seen someone argue like that? ;)

Man, remember Rumsfeld's bs arguments about how Iraq was better than how the press was making it. How you go into war with the army you have. How boys will be boys. You have your known knowns, your unknown knowns...

But Trump definitely takes the cake with his narcissistic blather... during a pandemic.

AOC noted a gap in the payments going out - adult dependents don't get anything. Like college students. But one won't have to pay student-loan payments until September, and she notices that nobody worries about how to pay for these big bailouts. So it's a matter of political will.

She also noted that immigrants pay much more in taxes than certain big businesses do.

Seems like US private medical insurance is headed into a death spiral, with only public systems likely to survive. Or will medical-insurance companies also get bailed out?

Lawmakers Ask Trump To Suspend Sanctions To Help Iran Fight Coronavirus | HuffPost
The sanctions could be costing lives in Iran, which is enduring one of the largest flare-ups of the pandemic in the world. Thus far, more than 2,750 Iranians have succumbed to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, and more than 40,000 have been infected, according to tracking by Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University. At least 50 Iranian medics have died.

...
The congressional letter, shared with HuffPost ahead of its public release, is addressed to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Notable signatories include Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.).

“Allowing this crisis to become more dire in Iran threatens significant harm not only to the people of Iran but also to people in the United States and around the world,” the letter says.

...
The letter from lawmakers noted that President George W. Bush’s administration “eased sanctions and delivered aid to Iran following a deadly earthquake near Bam in 2003. Our many disputes with the government of Iran or others should not stand in the way of actions that can materially help innocent people weather a pandemic.”

“Sanctions relief that should be considered are those that encompass major sectors of the Iranian economy, including those impacting civilian industries, Iran’s banking sector and exports of oil, and should last for at least as long as health experts believe the crisis will continue,” the lawmakers wrote.

France, Britain, Germany, China and the World Health Organization have given Iran support to tackle the pandemic, and Iranian officials who first downplayed the risks of COVID-19 over concerns for their image and the nation’s economy appear to be ramping up their fight against the virus. Iranian authorities only recently closed non-essential businesses and curtailed travel ― suggesting it will be some time before those measures, proven elsewhere to limit the spread of the pandemic, have an effect.
