Trump VS COVID-19 Threat

While the anti Trumpsters and the leftist media are trying to pin the tragedy unfolding in the US on him, the real culprits are either deliberately or ignorantly [at best] silent on who is really to blame.

There is authoritative and compelling evidence — including a study from the University of Southampton — that if interventions in China had been conducted three weeks earlier, transmission of COVID-19 could have been reduced by 95 percent.

For 40 days, President Xi Jinping’s CPC concealed, destroyed, falsified, and fabricated information about the rampant spread of COVID-19 through its state-sanctioned massive surveillance and suppression of data; its misrepresentation of information; its silencing and criminalizing of its dissent; and its disappearance of its whistleblowers.

So, the Chinese government is at fault for saying it's probably harmless when no one really knew either way.

Meanwhile, the American government had continued to claim and pretend it's harmless long after we found out it really isn't.

It's quite a damning assessment when we find that despite M up the Chinese government had done more to save American lives than Trump.

I think it seems tragically funny about how Dr. Strangelove-esque this partisan stuff has gotten.

The economy-at-any-risk movement is effectively saying 'The shutdown worked in limiting the expansion of the disease, we no longer need it to continue doing so.'

Cases are still increasing. Yes, slower, but increasing. Any opening, even with mitigation efforts will lead to an increaseof that increase. It isn't as if opening things up will make things safer. And there are many (after just three weeks!) that are losing their mind over this soft shutdown, going stir crazy in a world with streaming media and any number of ways to entertain at home (and work from home, demanding this is unsustainable, we need to open things up as soon as possible. Maybe not everywhere, but in some places, as if the virus has GPS.

And congressional Republicans would collectively yawn if he did.
Romney would raise an eyebrow. Rand Paul would applaud (from isolation).

It is incredible how professionals will bend over backwards to spin any and every stupid thing Trump says... and that means nothing to him. He is truly a narcissist.

Virus may dash Trump's plan for a 'big bang' economic opening - CNNPolitics
Furthermore, many state governors and big city mayors — who so far retain more public trust over their management of the crisis than Trump — are nervous about a premature end to stay-at-home orders. Trump can't simply force them to open up.

And the administration itself appears far short of the readiness required to reopen the country safely. Mass testing capabilities needed to underwrite a staged return to normal life before the pandemic is contained are nowhere near needed levels.
Something that tRump doesn't seem to think will be necessary. :p
There is also no sign of a government plan for how vital functions like air and surface transport can safely resume without triggering a new wave of mass infections.

Trump, however, appears increasingly keen to get everyone back to work, or at least is laying the groundwork to blame others if it can't happen, once again suggesting amid criticism of his leadership that states, and not Washington, should be in the lead.

"Governors, get your states testing programs & apparatus perfected. Be ready, big things are happening. No excuses! The Federal Government is there to help. We are testing. More than any country in the World. Also, gear up with Face Masks!" the President tweeted on Sunday evening.
More than South Korea???

He seems to want all the credit for success and none of the blame for failure.

Biden lays out plan to reopen country amid coronavirus pandemic - CNNPolitics
Biden, alternatively, called for a series of aggressive steps before the country can "reopen more businesses and put more people back to work."

The former vice president outlined the need to continue social distancing while utilizing the "full powers" of the Defense Production Act and establishing widespread testing.

He also stressed the need to make sure hospitals are ready for "flare-ups of the disease" that may occur when economic activity expands again.
Like offices and stores opening before arenas and theaters.

Thus doing much better than the pResident.

Okay, that might not be a very fair paraphrase. I'll just quote him straight up from a tweet a few minutes ago.

For the purpose of creating conflict and confusion, some in the Fake News Media are saying that it is the Governors decision to open up the states, not that of the President of the United States & the Federal Government. Let it be fully understood that this is incorrect....

....It is the decision of the President, and for many good reasons. With that being said, the Administration and I are working closely with the Governors, and this will continue. A decision by me, in conjunction with the Governors and input from others, will be made shortly!
What a dick!

So, Clownstick has been saying it was up to the states to decide if they want to issue stay at home orders... But when Prince Bonespurs want it his way, he wants to be king...another day of STUPID.

Rump can't stand ever being wrong or ever making a mistake so of course he's going to blame Fauci for saying something that anyone with a brain already knew.

It's almost impossible to express all of Rump's ethical and intellectual failings in just one sentence.

Fauci is rewriting history. He said the American people have nothing to worry about back on January 21. Must be getting senile.

Speaking of rewriting history, what Fauci actually said was "This is not a major threat to the people of the United States and this is not something that the citizens of the United States should be worried about right now." which at the time was the correct statement. It's almost as if intelligent adults can learn new facts and adjust their opinions on stuff. Weird.

You're the one mis-historicizing. You're not quoting him fully. He was at that time suggesting following CDC guidelines.

Virus may dash Trump's plan for a 'big bang' economic opening - CNNPolitics
His hopes for a sharp rebound in the summer of his reelection year are likely to be dashed by the science of a virus that is highly contagious, for which there is no vaccine and no proven therapies.

Furthermore, many state governors and big city mayors — who so far retain more public trust over their management of the crisis than Trump — are nervous about a premature end to stay-at-home orders. Trump can't simply force them to open up.
There is also a lack of the massive scale of testing that will be necessary to make it safe to do so.

That is correct. Thank you for proving my point. He said "nothing to worry about right now."

So, then why would you expect Trump to have acted sooner? Fauci said that on January 21. So that means you expect Trump...on January 21....to have said, "We're shutting down everything right now!!!!!!"

Can you imagine if he did that? Media would've crucified him!! "Fauci says no problem, Trump defies medical expert!!!"

Biden lays out plan to reopen country amid coronavirus pandemic - CNNPolitics
Former Vice President Joe Biden called for widespread testing and a continuation of social distancing in a New York Times op-ed published Sunday that lays out his plan to "safely" reopen the country amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The former vice president outlined the need to continue social distancing while utilizing the "full powers" of the Defense Production Act and establishing widespread testing.

Amsterdam to embrace 'doughnut' model to mend post-coronavirus economy | World news | The Guardian
The inner ring of her donut sets out the minimum we need to lead a good life, derived from the UN’s sustainable development goals and agreed by world leaders of every political stripe. It ranges from food and clean water to a certain level of housing, sanitation, energy, education, healthcare, gender equality, income and political voice. Anyone not attaining such minimum standards is living in the doughnut’s hole.

The outer ring of the doughnut, where the sprinkles go, represents the ecological ceiling drawn up by earth-system scientists. It highlights the boundaries across which human kind should not go to avoid damaging the climate, soils, oceans, the ozone layer, freshwater and abundant biodiversity.

Between the two rings is the good stuff: the dough, where everyone’s needs and that of the planet are being met.

Because of the OTHER expert opinions he was getting, but paying no attention to? The ones NOT being made available to the public at the time.
But, if Bonespurs was HALF the media maestro he imagines himself to be, he might have leaked the intel, prepped the country, alerted the media, worked with governors, so thast when they announced a need to take drastic action it would appear like leadership, not an ill-conceived whim?
Maybe?

What intel was there that Fauci was not aware of when he made his statement on January 21?

Trump claims that he has the power to override the state Governors on when to "open the economy" despite it being very unclear where he would have that power.

Trump says he’ll decide on easing coronavirus pandemic guidelines, not governors

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump asserted Monday that he is the ultimate decision-maker for determining how and when to relax the nation’s social distancing guidelines as he grows anxious to reopen the coronavirus-stricken country as soon as possible.

....

Under the Constitution, public health and safety is primarily the domain of state and local officials and it was not clear what, if any, authorities Trump could use to overrule their decisions.

https://www.boston.com/news/politic...coronavirus-pandemic-guidelines-not-governors

Some other interesting things in there. Massachusetts Governor Baker seems to think that Trump's team gets the idea that a lot more testing needs to be done before opening things up. It they do get that, I guess Trump hasn't got the word. Of course Trump has previously said that massive more testing is not needed.

White House claims that Fauci won't get fired even though Rump retweeted some prick that says he should.

Regardless of federal guidelines, states have inherent police power to enforce "stay at home" edicts. Trump likely knows this, it's why he's consulting with governors. It gives the appearance he's in charge. It also puts pressure on the governors. If he announces "back to normal" by x/x/2020, many jobless would expect their governors to follow suit. New York City is not representative of the rest of the country.

Just imagine if this above quote was from Trump on March 9. You guys would be killing him!

Cuomo and De Blasio also said there was nothing to worry about in the beginning.

Pelosi said everything is fine as well.

Why do you guys keep saying it was only Trump who downplayed it???

This is getting ridiculous. It's media spin to make Trump look bad. That's all. Very simple.
