US President 2016 - the Great Horse Race

I think we should hold our best material against Trump for now, and wait for him to actually be nominated. It wouldn't surprise me if the Republicans find a way to switch candidates if they realize, before the convention, that Trump is a lost cause. I don't know if they can pull such a thing off, but I wouldn't put it past them to try.

^^^ agree!

Nah! Slam Trump all the way, every day. Repeat his past stupidities ad nauseum so there is no reason somebody can later say "I didn't know". Point out relentlessly why his policies are bad and destructive. It's doubtful the GOP can really dump the Trump, and it would surely destroy the GOP if they did so, so it would be a joy to see them try. Drag him down, down, down! I want to see vultures circling the GOP convention in Cleveland. The fun part is that Trump is an unrepentent motormouth and will surely dig himself a deeper hole in coming months. But in the meantime, don't give him a seconds worth of respite from his inglorious past.

The Republicans know Trump is a lost cause. The trouble is, they have no one else to run. So they are already in salvage mode, ie save the House majority.

You know what would be best? Crickets during his speech at the convention.

I wouldn't count Trump out yet; so far he's outperformed expectations. Lets look at trends over time, both in the polls & betting markets. I think that the Republicans are trying to insulate themselves from Trump, but only in so far as he exposes what they're really about.

I think that the current Republican outrage is fake. They're not angry about what he is saying. They're angry that he's saying it openly, with a bullhorn; instead of behind closed doors, in hushed whispers. Do you really think Romney would have uttered his 49% comment if he knew it would end up where the public could see it? I sure don't. I wonder what's being said that the general public will never see.

You have it right. He says what they are saying only without code words and dog whistles. Republicans are actually stalling action on global warming. That does not get much notice in light of all the personality disorders we are seeing these days in political candidates. I am still trying to get interest in the issue of there being more than 2 million uncounted primary votes in California...mine among them. I registered. I voted. and now my vote sits in a pink envelope somewhere and I can call and ask what happened to it about 30 days from now. I wouldn't even be able to do that if I had not demanded my voter receipt. Those votes aremore than likely Bernie votes. So we see a posted election result that is in no way the truth in terms of who voted for whom. They would give Bernie a big lead, not a loss in California. If it is happening here, only God (more likely Democratic election officials) know what the actual votes or voter intent was in many states. Corruption is serious and should override other considerations.

If there are 2 million votes that aren't counted in CA, said votes won't be counted, and all those votes were for Bernie; he still loses the popular vote nationwide. This assumes all 3 of those things are true. If those things are true, and the pledged delegates are reallocated accordingly Bernie still loses the final pledged delegate count since the Democrats award all of them proportionally. The DC primary is the only one remaining.

I think the only legitimate beef you have with the primary is the way Debbie Wasserman Schultz scheduled the debates. DWS scheduled these debates at times where they were least likely to be watched. This is not only unfair to all the Democratic candidates that were competing with HRC, but it's unfair to the party as a whole since they're less able to put their own debates in prime time for people to compare the two parties on this front. IMO DWS should be fired from the DNC for doing this. DWS, given her position as the DNC Chairwoman, shouldn't have done anything that gave an appearance of partiality, interferes with the ability to compare & contrast Democratic debates against Republican debates, or in any way favors any Democratic candidate over any other Democratic candidate in the primary.

Get off this shit-there is no reason to believe that those votes belong to one candidate or the other-most of them were from LA county and San Diego county both where Clinton won by a good margin. Even Sanders concedes the best he could hope for was a closer total, not a win. You see everything as a conspiracy. If you want to bitch about something look at Maricopa County in Arizona where the state decided to cut back their polling places by 85% even though the voter turnout was expected to reach record proportions. Of course the fact that there are a high number of minority voters in that county had nothing to do with it. Both Clinton and Sanders along with the Arizona Democratic party are suing them.

Were there isolated cases of voter fraud during this cycle? Sure, there always is, but was any of it orchestrated by the party or either candidate? Very doubtful. Bernie Sanders has over 600 pages of campaign contribution infractions filed against him by the FEC. Now some have been paid back, but most haven't. Does this mean that Sanders was trying to defraud the election by accepting illegal contributions? I doubt it-his campaign probably just misunderstood the FEC rules.

Conspiracy theory not wistending, I doubt most Americans would vote for a declared socialist.

Drumpf has captured a large following based on his fantastic promises about easily fixing any problem that he is asked about. It is as if he is a simply a real life version of Harry Potter.

The problem is treating the matter of who will lead us like a horse race in the first place and letting corporations fund their favorite horses.corporatism.JPG

Issues all get personalities attached to them based on how much they are paid to either present or attack them. Clinton is a prime example of what is wrong with American politics. I will NEVER VOTE FOR HER.:sadyes:

Well, when polled most would.

There is support for a 3rd party Bernie. The 18-25 youth in the US like free stuff.

I would point out Venezuela as an example of failed socialism.

What is the most successful socialist nation? Great Britain? Canada? NZ? Or even Aus.

Believe me that there are plenty of pretty strong capitalist pigs in Canada and Great Britain!

Would you agree that you are a tad bit obsessed with Hillary?

Well, she's a few months away from running his country. It's actually ok to be fairly obsessed with positions she has that he disagrees with.

Well, it's seems a little weird. I don't see the same level of personal hatred for Bush and Trump. I see the same level of personal hate towards Obama also from many posters. However, I think that it's very presumptuous to assume that Hillary will beat Trump.
