What Are You Eating Today?

Wendy's is much better and much cheaper than Mickey Dees.
They recently opened a Wendy's in Brisbane, on the corner of Adelaide and Albert Streets right opposite City Hall; It's the first one I have ever seen.

Haven't been inside yet; Might have to give it a try.

Google tells me it is the newest of only two Wendy's stores in Australia, both in Queensland, with the first being on Cavill Avenue in the middle of the Gold Coast tourist strip.

I hope your new Wendy's food is as tasty as the two in my town. But, of course, it is still fast food, so don't expect too much. I always bring at least a couple of the chicken tenders home for the dogs. They really love them. Yesterday, they enjoyed a little of the burger from Long Horn. Portion sizes in most restaurants have become insanely huge, so I almost always ask for a take out box regardless of where we eat. I still have some brown rice from the Asian restaurants we've been eating at. I add it to the dog's food and they don't seem to mind.

Hey! Maybe we need a thread called, "What is your dog eating today?"

Ground beef and rice with tomato saucer. When I was a kid I lived with an aunt and uncle a few ties. An Italian uncle who liked to cook. Left over meatballs and spaghetti for a few days. Meatball sandwiches. Making the meatballs took a few hours.
Sounds yummy.

Me, my 2 sisters, and 4 cousins. I feel sorry for kids who grow up without the leftovers experience' Always something good to eat in refrigerator.
My BIL and his family, wife and three kids, never eat leftovers. I've always thought that was nuts. They just throw whatever is left into the garbage.

I make some pasta and heat up tomato sauce with the ground beef. Cook peppers and other vegetables with the pasta. Celery is good. I make more than I need and it goes in the refrigerator.
I use sweet Italian sausage in my pasta sauce. And mushrooms.

Give their chili a try. It's pretty good. Ask for the spice packet to go with it if you like spicy chili.

I haven’t eaten at any fast-food restaurant in at least twenty years, with one exception. Whataburger is a Texas chain (they may be in the process of expanding their footprint into other states). I like the operation because they allow almost unlimited add-ons to the basic burger. I get mine dolled up with jalapenos, grilled onions and sometimes avocado. Mustard and hold the mayo. I do that maybe once a year.

If take out pizza and subs are fast food then I eat them about every week. I suppose it can be considered fast food but they are at least better food then your average McD or Burger King.

If take out pizza and subs are fast food
That's true. We order pizza from a local Italian restaurant four or five times a year, and I do enjoy the occasional sub. We also order from a chain called Cava about once a month or six weeks. It's supposed to be Mediterranean. Pitas and such. Then there's take-out Thai as well.

I’m craving fish. Not trout, ocean fish. And not frozen (though frozen has gotten a little better).
Conditions prohibit me from going and getting/catching it. If Mrs E was in the house I could justify the cost of ordering overnight fresh-caught from Seattle or Miami. It will be some time …

Live lobster sent from Maine?

I have frozen bluefish and salmon in the refrigerator.

Looks like salmon season is just opening. Halibut should be available.

We took our son out again to the nearby Asian restaurant that has a large variety of food. They even have an Asian menu with the food listed in both English and Chinese. My son loves that, as he prefers authentic ethnic food. I prefer ethnic food made to suit my American taste, so I had a delicious dish of shrimp with walnuts in a sweet honey sauce, surrounded by Broccoli. I shared the shrimp with the two guys and we all loved it.

Trenton Bridge Lobster will ship you live lobsters from Maine. It's at the bridge between Trenton ME and Mount Desert Island.

I know someone who doesn’t do leftovers as a cultural and I suspect class thing: leftovers are for poor people.

A lot of what I cook is even better as leftovers, especially soups.

I always thought it stood to reason, as long as there’s good refrigeration while it’s being left over.
In minutes you can take leftovers from a meal that took hours, and have something different and possibly even better than the first time, and would have taken hours to make “fresh”.

A fish taco.
Pieces of breaded cod and a couple shrimp, Cindy's Kitchen jalapeno ranch dressing, a few pickle slices, and a little coleslaw on a flour tortilla.
We have to do this again real soon.

I read the Brits are taking all the ranch dressing home with them. WTF? Hasn't anyone over there figured out ranch dressing yet?

Tastes of tomatoes, vinegar, eggs, anchovies, salt ... what? : )

nm. I realised that google is my friend and now know it is mayonnaise with added cream and herbs (dill, parsley, lots of salt containing additives and pepper) .

Sounds OK.
