Which movie did you watch today and how would you rate it?

I liked the movie too. Strange, and probably not as easy to follow for people who are not scifi lovers. So not everyone will like it.

Klute, 4/10; Stars Donald Sutherland, Roy Scheider and Jane Fonda in a crime thriller that was pretty boring. Klute (Sutherland) is a detective investigating the disappearance of a business executive. The executive is implicated in dealings with prostitutes which leads to Klute to Bree (Fonda). Klute needs Bree's help in navigating the seedy world of prostitution to find out what happened to the missing executive. Fonda plays her part very well and won an Oscar for her role but the movie will only appeal to people that enjoy these artsy type movies.

The Founder, 7/10; Stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, the "founder" of fast food chain McDonalds. In 1954 Kroc comes across a popular burger joint in San Bernardino, California that has a very efficient way of making burgers and serving their customers. The place is owned by two brothers, Dick and Mac McDonald. Kroc sees an opportunity to grow the the McDondald's restaurant through franchising and gets into business with the McDonalds. After many challenges Kroc is starting to make real progress in expanding the restaurant chain but feels stifled by the McDonald's tight controls, lack of ambition and Kroc not seeing enough reward for his hard work. It's an entertaining and interesting movie. Worth a watch.

Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

I'm sure most have seen this already, but I finally got around to it.

I didn't finish it because I found it so uninteresting--and my expectations were low going in. In reading the non-raving reviews of the film, which seemed much more down to earth than the "I shit myself because this was such a great movie!" type of reviews, I was prepared to be disappointed. And I was.

Random wackiness is old and not entertaining. It's stuff that high schoolers do and like because the experience is new to them. This film had a lot of that. I get that it was also parodying stuff, but it didn't do a good job of that either.

It was predictable. Once you see the dynamics and conflicts, you know how this one's going to end.

Finally, it's just plain ugly. I don't know enough about lighting, lenses, cinematography, etc. to give any kind of expert opinion on those things, but this movie's look is dull as dirt. When The Shape of Water won a few years back, I didn't think it was a great movie, but at least it looked beautiful. EEAAO looked like dishwater.

3/10

Old

An M. Night Shyamalan horror movie. Resort guests are directed to a private well hidden beach. Problems soon start occuring and the guests figure out they are aging extremely rapidly. Quite the little twist at the end but, all in all, not a great movie. Worth one watch though.

It's a classic Shyamalan disappointment. He needs a team of honest people around him to force him to stop doing stupid things with intriguing ideas.

Great description of his movies.

He, nay we need someone to force him out of the industry. And someone to stop me from giving him yet another chance. Why do I do this? I need a support group. Nine episodes of Servant, and it's the same old Shyamalan crap. Why do I keep doing this to myself? It's self-harm.

Heh. I got out after 5 episodes. It seemed obvious to me at the time that it was on a long road to nowhere. But I will still watch anything he makes, hoping for another 6th Sense, The Village, Unbreakable, or Signs.

Suzume.

Anime. Felt fantastic to watch, even after I got the cinema to pause it for ten minutes as they weren't playing the English dub version. Also felt like this was the reason for cinemas as you need to see this one on the big screen.

The Town, 7/10; Stars Ben Affleck, Jeremey Renner and a few other familiar faces in a crime thriller based in Charlestown, Boston. Affleck is part of a crew that robs banks and security trucks. During a bank robbery the crew take the female bank manager hostage and release her unharmed. After finding out she lives in the neighborhood Affleck strikes up a relationship with her which causes complications for him as she can likely identify one of the crew. Affleck wants to get out of crime and move to Florida but is manipulated into doing more robberies. The action is pretty good, the acting performances are good, I quite enjoy Affleck on screen. Worth a watch.

Ghosted with Chris Evans (Captain America) and Ana de Armas (not appearing in Yesterday).

Act one was delightful.

I didn't like the end.

The middle wasn't great.

I recommend act one of this movie.

So should tell the movie you want to see them. Then near the middle just disappear without explanation or warning? Feel there should be a term for that.

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. ??/10. Xfinity is offering this movie for free for a few days via Showtime streaming. It won a lot of Academy Awards and is pretty highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes. So, I started watching it last night to see what all the hubbub is about. Got about 40 minutes in and its not really doing much for me. I nodded off a little. I noticed there is still more that 2 hours to go, and I'm not sure if its worth going on. Has anyone watched this, and if so, should I stick it out? It started off a bit on the "wokey" side, but that has tempered a bit as it has progressed. :) I'm at the part right after where the IRS agent gets assaulted.

Obviously this is a polarising movie.

I watched this some time ago because Toni loved it to bits. I didn't last as long as you did. Hard to remember what I disliked, the film left no lasting impression at all. Perhaps I was tired.

I watched 7 Psychopaths last night. 4/5

Spoiler: there are a lot more than 7.

Renfield

the servant of Dracula realizes that he is in an abusive, toxic relationship with his master. He ends up crossing paths with one of the few honest cops in the city, who is determined to take down a major drug lord, that controls the police. The action and gore are both over the top. How over the top? Nick Cage is Dracula, in all his sadistic and manipulative glory, and he does not overshadow the Renfield action. If you like your humor dark and bloody, this was pretty good!

The Kid - Chaplin classic. Kept my daughter (10) engaged the entire time.

Million Dollar Legs - WC Field movie. Watching this for the gags, because the movie has happened 100 times in 1930s comedies. Silly and ridiculous, never takes itself seriously, but the plot is at least hollow enough to have a surface to it. Daughter liked this one too.
