Iran's governance is flawed, but there are subpolities in the Western Hemisphere which also suffer from the same flaws as Iran.
Like who?
[*]Deny rights to women; in particular criminalize abortion. CHECK.
Going back to pre-RvW state-by-state laws on abortion is hardly comparable to forcible hijab and executing adulterers. FAIL.
[*] Disqualify voters and use other rule changes to help incumbents win re-election. CHECK.
All electoral system disqualify some votes.
Otoh, Iran does not have any meaningful elections. FAIL.
[*]Allow corrupt judges to serve on the highest court. CHECK.
How do you define "corrupt" here?
*]Some leaders declare that State is subservient to Church. CHECK.
Some leaders declaring that is different than it being law of the land and there being a clerical "supreme leader" in charge above the office of the president. FAIL.
[*]Promote school curricula which indoctrinate children. CHECK.
You mean things like woke math or reparations math? Still not comparable to what's going on in Iran, but PARTIAL CHECK at least.
[*]Ban books said to be pornographic or otherwise "bad." CHECK.
Would be a violation of the First Amendment in the US. FAIL.
[*]Help finance terrorist regimes and organizations. CHECK.
BS. FAIL.
Yes, many regimes are as "evil" or corrupt as Iran.
All countries have flawed. Not many are as evil and corrupt as the regime in Tehran.
Iran is treated as special by right-wing ignorati because of their "Death to America" chants.
It's not ignorant to treat your declared enemies differently than others.
But these chants are due in large part to America's own anti-Iran rhetoric.
No. That shit started as soon as the ayatollahs took power. Remember, they stormed our embassy and took people hostage .We did not storm their embassy and took their people hostage.
Biden is correct to encourage economic and financial ties with salvageable regimes.
What makes you think they are a "salvageable regime"?
But the Trump Administration should also get some credit. Didn't they negotiate a $3 Billion investment in America's hedge-fund industry from the corrupt Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia? $3 Billion in FUNGIBLE money, as Derec might say.
Big difference being is that, for all their faults (and they are legion) Saudis are our allies while the regime in Tehran are our enemies.
