What Are You Eating Today?

Cut up a hot dog and cooked with rotini. Added to a tom top sauce. Pasta - hot dog - tomato soup.

My feel good cold grey winter day food.

It sounds like you're on a college food budget.
Nope, I like hot dogs once in a while.

Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato sauce and a hot dog.

My new doctor prescribed low sodium diet leaves me feeling hungry and depressed all the time.

Breakfast was granola.

Lunch was a salad.

Life is no longer enjoyable.

A low carb high protein breakfast for me is rice and beans from the refrigerator, and a scrambled egg. Add a little tomato sauce and a touch of hot sauce.

Another is a boiled egg and 1/2 cup of unsweetened Cheerios. Cook rice and beans, Boil eggs on Sunday night, peel and in he refrigerator. Good for salads. Cold rice and beans on salads.

You may feel like crap for a while but it passes as you get used to a diet without salt and sugar.

I just had a nice pork belly at Gilhooleys pub in Brisbane.

It's a nice counterpoint to flying Emirates, where the food is superb, but 100% Halal.
Do they have Halal McDonalds in the UAE?
I understand only that Halal forbids pork, and other meat must be butchered just so - but what are the differences in Halal airplane food flavor profiles?

I like a good salad now and then, don't get me wrong. But (a) there's a difference between liking salads and liking ONLY salads (b) they are better with something salty in them like meat and or cheese or dressing or.. something. Hence why they are called "salteds".

I do like arugula, though.

The bacon is made from turkey.

It's not bad. But it's not bacon.

I think gmbeach understands.
Yes. I make a pasta bolognese that is nutritious, filling and low in kj.

It’s all about the 0 stuff you can add (herbs and spices) and the xxx stuff you can take out.

I am making loaded beans tomorrow. It has bacon bits, chorizo and (trialling it) cut up hotdog, as well as capsicum, (another flavour bomb), zucchini, tomatoes, and beans…. Slow cooked in Cassie and Voila! A low KJ low salt meal.

I love my friend who is trying to make me go vegan, but there is something to be said for whole foods cooking. (We will ignore the hot dogs this time as I do actually use ham hock meat most of the time, this is an experiment)

Breakfast was granola.
I like granola and vanilla yogurt.

Lunch was a salad.
I love salads. When we go out to eat at a buffet type place my first stop is always the salad bar.
Salads are awesome. As long as bitter greens like arugula or kale don’t dominate, I love em and enjoy making them.
I make a lettuce free salad that is filling.

I use cucumber, grape tomatoes, dill pickles (chopped), sun dried tomatoes, roasted and marinated capsicum, feta, and corn kernels. The sun dried tomatoes and capsicums come with a flavoured oil that coats the veg and ultimately the salad, and, because it’s an oil, I cook steak and mushrooms in it.

Was someone dissing arugula above?
I just made my very first salad that included arugula a couple of days ago. Never liked the stuff, but for some reason it worked really well. I suppose it’s all about proportion.
