Epstein, Kiddies, And Trump. Oh, My

What in the world would make you want to post that here??? That's kinda' skeevy.
I thought it fit the "Epstein Island" meme.
But if you think it's inappropriate, feel free to delete.
Brooke Shields considers herself to have been massively abused in the making of that movie.
Does she? [citation needed]
Of course she was a commodity--that's what actors/actresses are!
They don’t have to be. Not all are treated as commodities because they don’t allow it. But a 14 year old? With her mother?

Decent directors and producers treat the actors as human beings, worthy of respect.
How many of those are there, though? (Decent directors)

So, why didn't Biden appeal the ruling?
Cuz it's pretty much guaranteed Biden would lose. Confidentiality of pretrial documents is well established legal concept. People have gone to jail and websites have been taken down for violating confidentiality rules.

Not enough. I get that being a good director means being a bit obsessively controlling and demanding. I very much understand that to many film makers, actors are nothing more than props so that the director can tell ( their) version of somebody else’s story. The second part: not viewing actors as thinking, feeling human beings is the part that is really messed up. It’s worse for women than men and much, much worse for minors than adults. Think of how many former child actors develop substance abuse issues. Part of my perception that women are more likely to be victimized and treated as props could be that women are more likely to speak out.

How many are good directors, as in good human beings who are good directors? I don’t know. Ron Howard leaps to mind.

If he had appealed and lost, he could turn around and say "I tried".

Yeah... I think Natalie Portman was protected better by her parents in The Professional than Brookes was in Pretty Baby or Blue Lagoon.
Decent directors and producers treat the actors as human beings, worthy of respect.
But isn't just with the last decade that scenes with nudity actually took the woman's dignity into thought?

Eh. Some women have had enough star power to limit what portions of their body could be on camera for a good long while. And of course, there were censors. Unfortunately, once people decided that censors were bad, a lot of pressure was put on women to show more ( all) skin. It has happened gradually and much like easy access to birth control pills removed women’s out re: sex they didn’t really want, so did the removal of censors remove the valid objections for women. Somehow, there has been far less pressure for men to do full frontal or even to show exposed buttocks.

First time I saw naked female breasts exposed in a movie theater was about 1969.

Yep, I’m old.

Seriously?? That is a truly obscene thing to say.

No worker is a commodity. Actors are paid professionals.

I agree that it’s an obscene concept—and reality for most actors and indeed for many workers.

And waste a lot of time and money for an already known losing battle. You seem to be saying you want a show trial.

Biden wasn't an immoral fuckhead like Trump sticking his nose into the legal processes of the DOJ. He maintained their independence.

Rational people try to avoid wasting time and effort on losing situations.

Yes, I want politicians to do whatever they can, exhaust every avenue, to release those files. That includes appeals they know they will lose so they can say they made the attempt as they move to the next option. It will build stronger justification in the long run. "See, I tried this and was blocked, so now I am trying that" makes more sense than "I didn't even bother trying this before trying that."

Also it is hilarious seeing you complain about waste of government money.

So you think appealing a ruling is a fuckhead thing to do that messes with DOJ independence.

This may come as a surprise to you, but sometimes you have to attempt things that you know won't work so you can move on to the next option with more justification. If you ever actually do anything you might find that out.

In this particular case, what next option was precluded until Biden wasted time and effort on a pointless appeal?

...and yet again I find myself astonished that US workers haven't risen up in bloody revolution and hanged their bosses from the streetlamps, or set up guillotines in the Capitol Mall.

Or even just collectively agreed to not work for anyone who treats them like shit.

Your claim was that she was "massively abused". The article does not back up your claim.
It is true that she feels exploited in hindsight of several decades and changes in societal attitudes toward how teenage sexuality is portrayed, but that is not the same as being "abused" on set, much less "massively" so.

Perhaps they remember some history.
The guillotines led to Napoloeon which led to the invasion of Russia and Waterloo.
The frogs have not won a war since.
