Thanks SoHy.
Warning - the hard part isn’t looking out for your loved one, it’s
missing them.
It’s easy to go above and beyond for a person you love. It’s easy, but it gets really difficult when it’s just a shadow of that person. All the “caring” in the world is unhelpful when the object of that care is only a shell.
I live in anticipation of a fleeting moment of lucidity, and am rarely rewarded. The impulse to hold on to such moments seems to effect their dissolution.
I wonder if I would be aware of my own descent into cluelessness, or even whether it’s already happening. Certainly there is plenty of cause for self examination - and knowing
that is my best reassurance.
I don’t remember names, but I have never remembered names. I lose stuff, but I have always lost stuff - I’m fucking absent minded, but this is the first time that bring absent minded has caused me so much angst.
If your husband should ever suffer from dementia, SoHy, I’m pretty sure you’ll be much better equipped to deal with it than I am. What if it’s YOU, though?
That’s good, but lately my fav from Amy is Mataar Paneer. If you haven’t tried it, try it!
