Upgrading to Windows 10 anyone?

I liked Cortana when I was in Halo.
I'm going to stay in Win 7 for as long as poss. Hell, I was in Win 98 SE until I got this machine.
The security issues were non-existent by then, nobody was bothering to write mal-ware for it anymore.
But if I hear of good reviews, I might take the free offer, in spite of TANSTAAFL.
I don't like this idea - http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/windows-10-automatic-download-1.3229063

Well, there's at least one thing I like about Windows 10 so far: when I click End Task, it ends the fucking task.

But are you certain you want to end it. Yes? Well, let me stew about it for half a minute before getting serious about actually ending the task.

You know, during my stewing I just noticed that the program isn't functioning properly or at all. You may want to close it.

Are you certain?

*crash*

Win 7 was good, but I hear that the end of MS support is on the distant horizon. Win 8 is definitely Satan. Don't know about Win 10, but I like this:

So on a whim, I tried to play a game I'd not played since long before the upgrade.

Surprise, surprise, surprise. It didn't work.

I've got about half a dozen former time-wasting games (that I've paid money for) that don't work at all with Windows 10.

But the new version of Solitaire works just fine...so I got that going for me.

The games I play are facebook games, which are shit and crash all the time, but with Windows 10, they perform just a hair better than on 7.

I don't see any games with Windows 10. Am I looking in the wrong place? I miss Spider Solitaire. I like playing that when I'm waiting for stuff like downloads or for someone to answer me in a message conversation.

I don't use it, but there looks like a selection of games to be found in the start window.

It sent me to the web to download games. :/

Try setting them to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

If the game was on CD, it might be an issue with copy protections. Some older games with certain CD based copy protection schemes have that issue on 10. I have only had an issue with 2 games, after trying out most of the better games in my Steam library, Civ BE, and Total War: Shogun 2. Neither one would play initially after upgrading from 8 to 10. Civ BE just patched sometime in the last 2 days, and is now working, but I still have the issue with Shogun 2, which is strange because the other Total War titles I have tried out have not had much of an issue (though I did have to run Napolean in Administrator mode to get it working).

If they are CD based games, see if you can find a crack for them, I have heard that this will work if it is indeed the copy protection, but be careful, and make sure you scan the crack file for viruses. Otherwise, try running in Administrator mode, or compatibility mode for whichever version of Windows they worked in last (7 is probably a safe bet), you may even need to do both. It also wouldn't hurt to reinstall the game first, if it is still installed from your previous OS version.

I am thinking about being unhappy.

Just tried to copy photos from the SD card to the hard drive. Won't let me do it.

Also found that it doesn't let you look at your photos in the same way and it is harder to browse for the one you want.

Can anyone give me idiot proof instructions for going back to 8 or where to send an abusive email to MS?

As long as you do it within a month of upgrading, it seems that it should be pretty simple.
