Bowling Green: Never Forget!

Obama was hindered from doing anything once the Republicans took power in the Congress. They opposed his every move.
Are you saying Obama wanted to fire Jen Psaki but congress did not let him?
It was the most distasteful display of putting party over the needs of the nation I have ever seen. Despicable.
Agreed.

What is this nonsense meant as pure distraction?

Obama faced the most partisan Congress in my lifetime.

Scum. Party over country was their motto.

It looks like Kellyanne Conway and other Trump spoleschimps are channeling Jack Handy. Day by day, this just gets more surreal and infantile.

Deeps thoughts by Kellyanne Conway.

What's that in English?

Jack Handy is a surreal comedian, "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey" was a bit on SNL featuring Handy's weird little bits. The general weirdness of Kellyanne and others seems to me to often have that surreal vibe and mental confusion.

I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it.
-- Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handey

Sometimes I think you have to march right in and demand your rights, even if
you don't know what your rights are, or who the person is you're talking to.
Then, on the way out, slam the door. -- Deep Thoughts, by Jack Handey

Are we at a point where American media is so devolved and propaganda so prevalent that a significant number of Americans have no concept of reality? I think so.

Not exactly. Rather, some know how to manipulate the media.

Eh, some know how to use the media to manipulate the masses--for profit.

The right's war on education has been invaluable.

She misspoke...twice

..in an interview with Cosmopolitan.com conducted by phone days earlier, on Sunday, Jan. 29, Conway used the same phrasing, claiming that President Barack Obama called for a temporary "ban on Iraqi refugees” after the “Bowling Green massacre.”

...

"He did, it’s a fact," she said of Obama. "Why did he do that? He did that for exactly the same reasons. He did that because two Iraqi nationals came to this country, joined ISIS, traveled back to the Middle East to get trained and refine their terrorism skills, and come back here, and were the masterminds behind the Bowling Green massacre of taking innocent soldiers' lives away."

Just so we're clear, then. She made up a fake massacre, trotted it out not once but twice, and only retracted it when she got caught.

That's OK. There's still libraries, right? Would you keep those?

Nah. Twitter is sufficient.

Apparently. What's not as funny about this is that neo nazis don't seem to grasp that by dismantling schools they are not actually dismantling the beliefs, ideas, or world views they hate and attack. That's nothing more than cultural destruction by extremists. ISIS does the same thing.

Right wing authoritarian followers will always opt for the stupidest, most black-and-white, most physically violent responses to fear. I think that fear is that if they don't succeed at their bumbling plan for social dominance, they will have to adapt to a tribe of seven billion. The protective bubble of political correctness and a wider, saner society is no longer there to return to in case the final solution fails.

Side note: If it weren't unconstitutional, forcing neo nazis to get ancestry dna tests might put a certain ideology to rest once and for all.

I'll take convoluted speak for $1200 Alex.

Is there a library that nobody uses? Where? Library visits might be down quite a bit due to technology, but they are far from unused. Y'all better get crackin'.

Sign of the times.

Sign of what? Most people have libraries and more at their fingertips, so it's a sign of technology advancing. I don't think it's a sign that we're reading less. I think that nosedive started way before smart phones. "Reading is for faggots" as a national value is just one of those delightful side effects of religious zealotry infecting politics and culture for decades. If you want to know what happens when it goes on for centuries, look to the middle east. Whatever you hate about Islam, it's just a more virulent strain of what already ails the US.

Destroying schools, however, is a sign of cultural destruction typical of any right wing authoritarian ideology toward those groups they demonize and wish to dominate or eradicate. They don't value education and they're not curious, so how would they even understand what they're attacking?

If libraries are not being used, they will close.

But that's not the case. They are being used, just less so due to technology.

Anyway, back to the actual question: Would you do away with libraries if it were up to you, TSwizzle?
