Breakdown In Civil Order

If you have low-life neighbors, the chances are strong that they observe your comings and goings very closely, and have learned your habits.
On the contrary. Low life thieves are generally lazy slackers. They don't observe shit, and aren't particularly interested in you.

They've probably noticed that your place is generally unoccupied at certain times of the day, but that's just incidental to the fact that they're always hanging around, as they don't have jobs to go to.

Most criminals are pathetic losers. Making them out to be cunning, ruthless, and organised is unwarranted - but it's great propaganda for people who want to divert more of your taxes to policing and the incarceration industry.

Sure, they know when you're not home, and sure, they'll take advantage. But that doesn't require close study of you or your life, and the idea that they're watching your every move is paranoia. They probably couldn't pick you out of a line up; They don't care about you, just your valuables.

Yup. Happened to my widow granny. The lowlife scum that lived opposite broke into her house a couple of times when she was either on vacation or at work. They did a few houses on the street. Police were useless. They knew but there was nothing they could do legally. The community put a stop to it.

Sorry, but the selective nature of the houses that were hit around here makes me strongly suspect the burglar knew who lived here. I'm not aware of the guy being caught but the burglaries stopped.

Our burglar lived next door. He was the son of our next door neighbors. Their daughter even baby sat for us, until one night her brother, the culprit, stole some wine from us while she was baby sitting and our son told us about it.

Most amateur burglars don't rob random houses. Sixteen year olds, like this boy was, are not out to kill anyone, they just want to steal some easy and risk free loot.

This is what we have to put up with in California;

A man suspected of crashing a car going 100mph into an Uber - killing its three passengers - has a lengthy rap sheet and was on probation in a murder case. Gregory Black, 31, is accused of speeding into the vehicle that killed Juvelyn Arroyo, 23, Veronica Amezola, 23, and Kimberly Izquierdo, 27 at the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and West Century Boulevard in Westmont, Los Angeles. Black - who is a known gang member with three felony convictions - is said to have run a red light in his white Mercedes-Benz at 5.25am and T-boned the Uber, causing the fatal impact. The impact was so strong that the black Honda spun around five times and three of its four passengers died. One of the women was ejected from the car during the crash, Los Angeles police Detective Ryan Moreno said.

Gascón has blood on his hands.

A man is being sought for allegedly violently attacking an elderly man in Whittier before going into another nearby home and fatally stabbing another elderly victim and stealing his car, officials said Wednesday. The first elderly man was found stabbed to death in a home in the 15300 block of Goodhue Street in South Whittier around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials released these images of a stabbing and assault suspect. An investigation revealed the man had been killed about 24 hours earlier and the suspect drove off in his 2021 Silver RAV 4, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna.

Sheriff Luna had the audacity to say, "you really ought to keep your doors and windows locked".

I am shocked that a state with a population of California has a criminal that has repeatedly broken the law. That is just shocking. I thought you needed the population of China to find one of them types of people. Ever since crime was invented in 1997 by the Clinton Administration, it has been downhill.

California has a criminal that has repeatedly broken the law.
This particular criminal is a felon, a repeat offender, on probation for another serious crime and has has just killed three young women. He should have been locked up. You and Gascon prefer dangerous, violent criminals out doing their thing, I don't.

Actually you are the one who thinks violent criminals should be on the street.

San Francisco still going down the toilet;

Numerous groups of tourists visiting a beach in San Francisco had all their belongings stolen from their cars, including their passports, while at the ocean for just minutes. On their second day in San Francisco, a group of tourists from Malta contemplated cutting their trip short and returning to Europe after the brazen smash and grab that occurred in broad daylight within a mere 10-minute window. Shocking footage captured by Matty Lopez on Instagram and shared by journalist Arisley T. Pacheco, who documents robbery victims, revealed their car's trunk vandalized, with shattered glass scattered across the ground. The man recording the video questions the tourists, 'So what happened - you went to the beach for five minutes?' Their response is disheartening: 'They took everything we had - passports, cameras, phones, iPads, laptops, luggage - everything.'

Let's hope they don't visit France either:

Vehicle thefts rise significantly across France

There were 133,800 vehicles stolen in 2022, which represents a 9% rise compared with the previous 12 months.

That equates to a vehicle theft every four minutes.

Thefts from within vehicles also increased by 9% compared with 2021, while the stealing of vehicle parts rose 30%.

But Chesa Boudin was recalled, and that was supposed to make the crime rate drop by some big factor.

A lot of the discussion of crime has the presumption that all criminals everywhere are known to have committed their crimes. But that is not the case, and for many property crimes, that is far from the case.

So I think that police forces need to become MUCH more efficient in solving property crimes. One does not need severe penalties, only certain ones, and for small crimes, penalties should be small. Should one be sentenced to 20 years in prison for running a red light?

Let's Go Newsom 2024!

Newsom is kinda like the DeSantis of Democrats, according to your right-wing nut sources, isn't he?
State governors who are very popular amongst their base in their home state, but not particularly electable on the national stage.

I realize that you live in Newsom's state. I live in Pence's state. It's a bit of a problem when you live in a state with a governor you vehemently disagree with.

But I'm not seeing much from the GOP that looks electable to me. Front runner Trump has never won a popular election ever. Got through the real election in the EC once in 2016, then got blown out of the water in both the popular and EC elections in 2020. He remains the frontrunner in the GOP primaries.

Doesn't sound like brilliance on the part of the GOP to me, unless they're banking on violent overthrow of the US government to get Trump into office in 2024.

Soooo, your point is France is going down the toilet too, so that means SF doesn't matter? Or nothing should be done there? Or we shouldn't complain? Or France should be fixed first? Or what?

I wonder if its possible to respond to a post that doesn't invoke Trump or Jan 6th. We need something like a Godwin's Law here, but instead of Hitler, its Trump. One of these days, as a secret experiment, I'm going to post a video of a cute puppy playing with a ball and see how long it takes before Trump is mentioned. :)

To be charitable to Newsom, such problems were going on well before he became Governor. He did inherit a mess. But his attitude reeks of sympathising more with criminal elements and less with actual crime victims. This video of him says a lot, where a primary concern seems to be to not hurt the feelings of a bunch of thugs:

So, looking at the statistics, 2022 robberies in California were around 33% of the number in 1993. Aggravated assault is down 40% from 1993 levels. This is bulk numbers, not per capita! Homicides have risen in the last 10 years, but are still notably reduced from the early 90s, again bulk stats, not per capita. Larceny theft is lower now than five years ago. Much lower than 30 years ago.

Petty theft certainly seems to be on a rise. That is a problem, needs to be addressed. Of course, the whole fire and brimstone judicial anvil isn't quite as simple a solution. As well as not exaggerating how bad things are. One would swear that we were living in Escape from New York or Mad Max times. As if gang violence, car theft, robberies didn't exist 50 years ago. Trends in increasing crime need to be analyzed and dealt with. Not exaggerated into a comical apocalyptic partisan fueled fantasy land.
