Elizabeth II has died

At The British Monarchy:
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

Thursday, 8 September 2022

The official website of the Royal Family is temporarily unavailable while appropriate changes are made.

QE2's mother lived 102 years -  Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother - so I was expecting QE2 to survive further.

What to know about King Charles III, Britain's new monarch - CBS News - "Buckingham Palace confirmed Thursday that the new monarch would be known as King Charles III."

So he has decided to be King Charles III instead of (say) King George VII or King Edward IX or King William V or King James III or King Philip II or King Henry IX or King Richard IV or ... --  List of British monarchs and  List of English monarchs

Long an Uneasy Prince, King Charles III Takes On a Role He Was Born To - The New York Times - "Once an awkward, self-doubting young man, he comes to the throne, at 73, as a self-assured, gray-haired eminence."

"Charles, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and a man born to be king, acceded to the throne on Thursday after being the designated successor for longer than anyone in the history of the British monarchy."

King Charles III was born in 1948 and his mother became monarch in 1952, reigning for 70 years.
Whether Charles will ever enjoy the respect or affection showered on his mother is another question. Thrust on to the throne at 25, Elizabeth reigned for longer than most Britons have been alive, anchoring her country with stoic dignity as it made a turbulent passage from globe-spanning empire to reluctant member of the European Union to an uncertain future after Brexit.

Charles’s journey was, perhaps inevitably, less acclaimed. His foibles and frustrations were mercilessly dissected by the news media; his pet hobbies, from architecture criticism to organic farming, were frequently mocked; his marriage to Diana, Princess of Wales, which crumbled amid lurid tabloid headlines and mutual charges of infidelity, remains for many the defining event of his public life.
Seems like a bunch of professional celebrities. We can give QE2 credit for being likable, but that cannot be said of KC3.

William moves over here and complains no one respects his past aristocratic position and privilege.
Do you have any examples of these complaints?
I mixed up the royals. I meant Harry, aka Prince Harry.

He publicly whined on how he was being treated in the media. He didn't seem to udestand we have free speech. He thought sometng shoud be done about reporting. There was also something about his expecting the government to provide security.

Another arrogant spoiled aristocrat.
That's possible. Of course, the whole aristocratic life was largely involved with getting his mother killed and it can't possibly have been easy being Harry or William with the social drama when they were kids.
Friends and countrymen, we come to burry the queen not to praise her.
Her achievements, being royalty, no, not a lot. She didn't create the Polio vaccine or invent the Internet. However, HM QE II was unique in that her approval rating was higher that Jesus's (except in Ireland) and there was no one on the planet that had her footprint. She was a fixture of Royalty for the entire planet for 70 years.

Meanwhile, to stuff in the Ye Olde Trivia bank, King Charles III is the oldest person to become King of England, by nearly a decade.

As I understated it the royals primarily serve as a tourism draw. They are part of British popular culture image.

Over here British period TV shows on PBS are popular.

Chuck liked to travel on the royal yacht viiting counties as a good will ambassador.

What I think is that they are all educated and aware. They know they live in an isolated bubble they can't justs walk away from, and they serve no real use. Perpetual boredom and monotony.

Black Twitter is hating on Queen Elizabeth so much right now. The fuck did she do?

Now I will have to remember to refuse to sing "God Save the King", after all these years of refusal to sing "God Save the Queen".

Hope you can keep that together; 70 year old habits are hard to break.

Queen Elizabeth II's doctors were concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace said - morning of Sep 8, UK time, then updated with her death
Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” Buckingham Palace had said in a statement earlier in the day.

Queen Elizabeth II is dead: Here are the plans for the next 10 days
Few alive anywhere in the world will have witnessed anything like the carefully orchestrated and detailed plan, including gun salutes, bells pealing across the land and millions gathering to pay tribute. Britain is in a period of official national mourning that lasts until the queen’s funeral.

Code-named London Bridge, the plan for the queen’s funeral, which has been years in the making, will stage-manage an otherwise uncertain few weeks for the nation, from the succession to a new king to a period of national mourning, the queen’s funeral and the eventual coronation of her eldest son, King Charles III, 73, according to advance briefings with Buckingham Palace officials.
Then describing the funeral plans for QE2 in gory detail.

Queen Elizabeth Has Passed Away And Trolls On Social Media Are Blaming Meghan Markle [UPDATED]

Members of the royal family have rushed to Balmoral to be by her side. The BBC has reported that Meghan Markle will not accompany her husband Prince Harry as he heads to Balmoral. This is viewed as a big deal by the outlet, but Prince William’s wife, Kate, is not traveling to Balmoral either. Somehow, that isn’t considered as urgent.

Despite the severity of the situation, online trolls have somehow made this ordeal all about Markle and all the “stress” she’s caused the Queen. One user wrote: “No thanks to Harry and Meghan stressing [Queen Elizabeth II] out poor thing! Wishing her a swift recovery and H&M a swift realisation of the impact of their selfish behaviour.”

What sick tabloid gossip.

royal.uk is back in action and the site now has a lot of articles about QE2.

The last official statement from when QE2 was alive:
A statement from Buckingham Palace | The Royal Family
Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.

Remember he left England and his family because the royals rejected and would not accept a biracaial kid as a part of thefamily. The queen coud have stepped in and make a point of opening the family to hs wife and kid, and did nothing.
Still only an allegation. And Markle strikes me a reliable source of such allegations.

In the news a film clip of a young Liz calling the royals a great imperial family.

Given the colonial history of the empire the idea that the royals would accept a 'wog' into the family was unrealistic.

Obama removed a bust of Churchill. As a young man Winnie made his traditional male aristocratic creds by military service in the colonies.
