Almost forgot to post pics of the scarves. The one in the OP had to be taken apart as I did not have enough yarn to make a scarf with that pattern. So I did a more open (and more rustic, as it turns out ) stitch pattern so that I could get a full length scarf.
I doubled the yarn and worked two strands at a time, Tunisian extended simple stitch, with a few rows of honeycomb stitch on the ends. Gave it to my brother and he was surprisingly happy with it. I kind of expected him to not like it, so I'm happy.
