Immigration Issues

Following a Zeteo investigation into a no-bid ICE contract awarded to a company owned by a Republican donor, Democrats on the House Committee on Homeland Security launched an inquiry on Friday, demanding the Trump administration provide answers about its use of the sole-source contract.

In an oversight letter sent to acting ICE director Todd Lyons, Reps. Bennie Thompson (Miss.) and Shri Thanedar (Mich.) pressed the agency to explain how and why the $2.25 million contract for 25 SUVs was awarded without competition to Hendrick Motorsports LLC, a company owned by prolific Republican donor Joseph Riddick "Rick" Hendrick III.

One of the things that really pisses me off about these ICE immigration "operations" is the bold faced lying.

News is that they are coming to Massachusetts again.

The Trump administration has started an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in Massachusetts, saying it was targeting “the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens living in the state.”
Lying

“The City of Boston and its mayor have been among the worst sanctuary offenders in America — they explicitly enforce policies designed to undermine law enforcement and protect illegal aliens from justice,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. “If Boston won’t protect its citizens from illegal alien crime, this Department of Justice will.”

Boston has very low crime. Immigrants are not the source of crime. Pam Bondi is an evil lying sack of shit.

It's so clear from their previous roundups that they are not after criminals. They are after ordinary hard working people whose documents may not be 100% in order. I'd bet that fewer than 1% of the people that they snatch off the street are actual criminals.

This is the thing with EVERY SINGLE ONE of Trump's Departments. They LIE LIE LIE. NOTHING spewed from any Trump appointee can he taken at face value. They fucking lie lie lie.

“We were deeply shocked by the sudden and opaque raids that appeared to target Korean nationals.”

Kim Gap-song, head of the Korean American Service and Education Consortium (KASEC) in New York, told the Dong-A Ilbo in a phone interview on Sept. 6 local time that fear and anger were sweeping the Korean community.

After U.S. immigration authorities stormed the Hyundai Motor-LG Energy Solution battery joint venture plant (HL-GA) in Savannah, Georgia, on Sept. 4 and detained more than 300 Korean employees, a sense that there is “no safe zone,” even for allies, spread quickly. The plant has been cited as one of the largest U.S. investment projects by a global company.

Kim Gap-song, who dispatched staff to Savannah to provide interpretation and other support for the detained HL-GA workers, said, “This raid has caused major disruptions to new factory construction across Georgia. I understand some Korean companies have decided to preemptively suspend construction in case of further incidents.”

Heavy blow as Georgia hosts many Korean firms

Georgia is considered a hub for Korean investment in the United States. More than 110 Korean companies, including Hyundai Motor Group in Savannah, SK On in Commerce, and Hanwha Qcells in Dalton, have set up operations. In a state where Korean firms contribute significantly to local communities, a large, coordinated immigration crackdown by the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI, and the Drug Enforcement Administration has left many Koreans feeling betrayed.
Demand foreign investment then fuck them over when they come.

Great strategy there, Don.

Supreme Court essentially OK's racial profiling for roving ICE posses.
The Supreme Court on Monday backed President Donald Trump’s push to allow immigration enforcement officials to continue what critics describe as “roving patrols” in Southern California that lower courts said likely violated the Fourth Amendment.

The court did not offer an explanation for its decision, which came over a sharp dissent from the three liberal justices.

At issue were a series of incidents in which masked and heavily armed Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents pulled aside people who identify as Latino – including some US citizens – around Los Angeles to interrogate them about their immigration status. Lower courts found that ICE likely had not established the “reasonable suspicion” required to justify those stops.

Enabling fascism, right up front.
Thanks, trumpsuckers.
