Mueller investigation

Nah, it's just that that source is crap.

Somehow I missed that Rosenstein was appearing before the House Judiciary Committee today. CNN has a banner running right now saying he is saying "I see no good cause to fire Mueller." (Not sure if that is an exact quote of Rosenstein or a paraphrase.)

I expect the calls for Mueller to be fired to become less frequent now since the election yesterday showed how weak the Trump brand has become.

ETA: More detail here.

What do Republicans think they will gain by attacking Mueller's credibility?

If Trump is innocent as they claim, then Mueller will find nothing regardless of how competent or incompetent he is.

They know goddam well that he's guilty, and that they are complicit. This charade creates the illusion of credible deniability for them (in the eyes of the same idiots who voted for Cheato in the first place).

Indeed, it is the dance to appease all aspects of the base. It never works, but they always try to appeal to a wide spectrum of what they perceive to be their base.

Complicit. That is the word I have been waving at the nearest Republican Representative in my state. I keep pointing out that he needs to distance himself from the fan when Mueller unloads on it. Barring that, I make sure that he knows that there is a recall process in our state and that he'll be in the electoral crosshairs come next election, with that unsightly set of sexual predator troglodytes still in office that will be hanging around his neck.

Yep. Complicit.

Today is the 7 month anniversary of Mueller's appointment. Seven months, four people charged, two guilty pleas, and one very nervous President.

And no Russia collusion so far. Wasn't that the whole point of it?

Holy crap! What news outlet do you use?

Damn, you may be right. Can you point me to the story where Trump and the Russians colluded in the 2016 election? Not speculation or guess; but a story citing actual evidence of collusion? And not a story that had to be retracted shortly after it was released. 'Cause after seven months, you'd think Mueller would have an indictment on the subject he was appointed to investigate. FFS.

Patience, Grasshopper. Patience.

Seven months, four people charged. With what? Money laundering, lying to FBI investigators, and a little "conspiracy against the United States" thrown in for good measure.

Of course there's no guarantee charges will be brought for the specific charge of collusion, but you'd have to be an idiot to deny that senior members of the Trump campaign/transition team met repeatedly with the Russians and then - and this is the important part - lied about it. As we learned during Watergate, it isn't the crime, but the cover-up. Why did they all lie about their contacts with the Russians if it were all on the up and up? What did they have to hide?

More to the point, why would they lie about these things when they knew (or suspected) that the Special Counsel had the truth? Flynn in particular is a puzzling case. As former director of the DIA, he of all people should have known that his communications were being monitored, and yet he knowingly committed a felony by lying to the FBI. Maybe he really is that stupid, but he was part of a conspiracy of stupid, as he was just one of the many in the Trump camp (including Trump's son and son in law) who lied about their contacts with the Russians.

Nope. Nothing to see here...move along.

I have a feeling that at the end of the day, the defense will be "well, we lie about EVERYTHING, day in and day out. Why shouldn't we lie about all our meetings with Russian oligarch-mobsters?"

They can't deny that they keep lying about it, since so many of those lies are already proven, so they have to make that be okay somehow.

Half credit. The whole point is
Rosenberg's charge said:
any links and/or coordination between Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump, and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation
Trump firing Comey (and others), Flynn lying to Congress, and Papadopolous lying to Congress are all matters that arose from the investigation. Obstruction of justice is a felony. Do you even understand why?

Trausti entirely misses the point of the investigation - fuck trump and his probably criminality. This is about the democratic republic that the greedy moron is trying to destroy. I'd be happy to let the whole corrupt lot of them go free (to Russia) if they would help prevent further Russian interference in US elections. But they're determined to let it happen again, and their co-conspirators in congress are all for it.
