Manafort reaches 'tentative' plea deal with Mueller: report

This was just reported. No details yet on what was agreed to, although Manafort has been seeking to avoid a trial. He could just admit guilt on some charges and then theoretically receive his pardon after the election is over. Avoiding a trial during the run-up to the election would certainly be something that Republicans would like, so it might be that Mueller is more cooperative about this than he might otherwise be. Details to be released tomorrow.

Hearings, without a 2/3 majority in the senate to get a conviction, are an invitation to let the criminals assert that they are persecuted and innocent. Again, it will be a futile exercise with no purpose but to further taint the Republicans for 2020, and is thus another "Party Before Country" action. If there is even a small-to-moderate chance of success with an impeachment effort I'm in full support of it. But IMHO that will require a report from Mueller, and action by Congress to release its contents to the public. Until then, I say hold off on it.
