Poll includes how much Trump won in 2016 compared to how much Biden is up in 2020. It appears as if more and more people have. had enough of Trump.

I still find it incredible that out of 330 million people, these two presidential candidates are the best America can do.

But it's not out of 330 million people.

The US President has to be over 35, which eliminates half of the population. The President also has to be a Natural Born Citizen; That lowers the pool still further.

Most importantly, nobody can be a serious candidate for the presidency unless they have been politically active for most of their adult life; or are famous; or are wealthy; or ideally all three. ...It takes a long time to become 'presidential material' in the eyes of the two major parties -

That last bit was true for both parties up until 2016. Yet the rise of Trump was not an isolated phenomenon. It is the culmination of a decades long process that was marked by Reagan's inaugural "government is not the solution to your problems, government IS the problem" speech.

Biden is not particularly exciting as a candidate. He gaffes, grins, gives inappropriate shoulder massages, but for his entire life has been a public servant. That last part is bad according to the modern GOP. Government itself is bad, and anyone (except their own long-serving political animals, of course) who dedicates their life to a career in government is therefore wholly incapable of running that which must be destroyed at all costs...before it's soaked for all the money possible.

Trump's qualifications are not that he's allegedly rich and famous, but that he's the pinnacle of Republican ideals as of late. A grifter who will accomplish their goal of making a representative government useless while private industry finally seizes the last remaining levers of power. Is it going to be ugly? Sure, but in order to make an omelette you've sometimes got to destroy a republic.

It wasn't always this way. The first President I remember was Nixon, and for all his many faults, he was at his core a public servant. A patriot, even. His misdeeds were premised on an ends justify the means philosophy, but the end was to make the country better. Trump's end is utterly self-serving. He couldn't give a fuck about the country except as it serves him, and that has become the qualification that makes him worthy of the Presidency in the eyes of modern Republicans. He is the means to their end, and has performed spectacularly. The state department is gutted. The justice department is hopelessly corrupted. Most of his cabinet secretaries are people explicitly hired to destroy the agencies which they head.

Is Biden the best the Democrats could do? Not by a long shot. Yet I have to believe that at his core, "Sleepy Joe" is a dedicated public servant who feels his policies are what's best for the country, and not necessarily himself. Is he a creature of Washington? Yep. Is he an insider? Yep. Is he the presumptive nominee because he's just outlasted and outmaneuvered everyone else? Sure. Yet at the end of the day, he's actually qualified to do the job he's applying for. If elected, he will do at best a passable job. Trump? His party embraces the fact that he's wholly unqualified. That's precisely why they like him so much.

The only significant difference in 2016 between Trump and tens of thousands of likeminded mouth-breathers with zero shot at the presidency was his fame and alleged wealth.

A nation that voted for Scott Morrison has no room for casting aspersions about American presidents or voters.

And do pray tell what has Scomo done to rattle your disgust? Oh yes, He beat a slimy, corrupt militant union puppet and thug at the last federal election.

So you don't find his overtly theocratic stance, and his clear favouritism towards a particularly fundamentalist and radical Christian sect in any way problematic?

That's an odd position for an alleged atheist to take regarding the leadership of his home country.

Exclusive: Dozens of Republican former U.S. national security officials to back Biden - Reuters
Dozens of Republican former U.S. national security officials are forming a group that will back Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, people familiar with the effort said, in a further sign that President Donald Trump has alienated some members of his own party.

The group will publicly endorse Biden in the coming weeks and its members plan to campaign for the former vice president who is challenging Trump in the Nov. 3 election, the sources said. It includes at least two dozen officials who served under Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, with dozens more in talks to join, the sources added.

They will argue that another four years of a Trump presidency would endanger U.S. national security and that Republican voters should view Biden as the better choice despite policy differences, the sources said.

...
“Trump pals around with dictators. He’s a real danger,” a person involved in the group said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

...
Trump has expressed contempt for Republican and conservative figures who have opposed him, saying on Twitter last year that such “Never Trumper Republicans” are “human scum.”

...
Powell already has endorsed Biden, saying Trump has “drifted away” from the U.S. Constitution and poses a danger to American democracy. Mattis accused Trump of trying to divide Americans.

Most recently, Trump’s former national security adviser John Bolton said Trump was unfit to be president and accused him in a new book of misdeeds including seeking Chinese President Xi Jinping’s help to win re-election.
2020 election: Carly Fiorina says she'll vote for Joe Biden - CNNPolitics
Former 2016 Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina says she'll support Joe Biden over President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, calling the presumptive Democratic standard-bearer a person of "humility" and "character."

"I've been very clear that I can't support Donald Trump. And, you know, elections are binary choices. I will say this: I think, I hope, that Biden understands that this moment in history calls for him to be a leader, not a politician," Fiorina told The Atlantic's podcast The Ticket in an interview released Thursday.

Trump was interviewed on Sean Hannity's program. Trump babbled nonsense, and didn't seem to be mentally all there. Trump could not answer the softball question, "What will be your next term's priorities?". Yet he hopes to debate Biden three times. And wants a fourth debate. In his ill fated Tulsa appearance, he rambled aimlessly at length. He can still be loud and abrasive, but he is not seemingly capable of sustained and cohesive speaking. Trump appears to be rudderless and mentally less than impressive. I suspect his speeches and appearances from now on will be given quite a bit of scrutiny as questions about Trump's metal fitness are asked seriously by the main stream press. Stay tuned for more.

Google what his answers were when FOX and Friends asked him if he had a message to all the mothers in America on Mother's Day. And I mean answers; they had to prompt him a couple of times.

Whatever fairy godfather he believes in is his own business and doesn't change one iota the fact his government is doing a great job in very difficult circumstances. Oh, and his approval rating is around three times better than Australia's very own Sleepy Joe. Anthony Albanese!

The polls are not looking good for the Trump atm. And no wonder, with most of the media dedicating whole journals and TV programs to a Trump hate fest. Perhaps if more people paid attention to what's been achieved in just three years of the Trump administration as compared to several of the last administrations. Especially Obuma's!

He means he's going to continue doing almost nothing, but signing off on right-wing judges that are brought to him.

His next term's priorities? Start campaigning for his third term; that's the only thing that matters to him. Term limits are for pussies.

Well, other than a rambling on where he, the Dotard, might sleep...it sounds like he wants to fire (remotely tweeted of course) more of the idiots he had the stupidity to hire...

Why, can you make sense of the Trump ramble quoted above? What would you describe as his key points?

Quoting someone is not attacking them.

He has achieved a bit, impeachment, meeting with Kim Jong Un, major tariffs requiring bribing farmers, and a pandemic response that couldn't have been much worse than it has been (for a first world country). It has been an incredible run.

Clinton opens a 12 point lead. Yeah, polls at this point are useless. Actually I think polling in today’s age is useless. They can’t do them scientifically any more. Too many campaigns are using polls as a way to identify supporters and raise money so people aren’t interested in participating in them anymore. They’re rarely a genuine effort to find out how people are voting. I’m just skeptical of all polling.

Quoting Trump in full context is attacking him, kinda like fact checking him on Twitter and still letting him post what he wants is now considered censorship.
