The Race For 2024

Also wanting the US to have an Iron Dome missile-defense system like what Israel has.
Which would be an excellent and not at all wasteful use of public funds, what with the USA being a small and geographically compact nation, with many hostile neighbours who frequently fire missiles at her.

Remind me, how many missile attacks has the USA endured? Just an estimate to the nearest round number will suffice.
Based on a quick research, there was one instance recorded of bombs and rockets "in the air" back in the kerfuffle that was the War of 1812. The British were highly advanced apparently. If only we had an Iron Dome, maybe the White House wouldn't have been burned.

I would have thought the airforce would have made short work of them. They should have remembered to seize the airports like they did during the Revolutionary War.

Thomas Jefferson let the airports go to hell, leaving President Madison with virtually no air support for our nation and military.

Donald Trump said:
When you feed a baby, Bobby a vaccination that is like 38 different vaccines, and it looks like it's meant for a horse, not a, you know, 10-pound or 20-pound baby... and then you see the baby all of a sudden starting to change radically. And then you hear that it doesn't have an impact, right? But you and I talked about that a long time ago.

Biden wins 53 times out of 100
in our simulations of the 2024 presidential election.
Trump wins 46 times out of 100.
There is a less than 1-in-100 chance of no Electoral College winner.

Biden 534
Trump 462
No winner + 4

Probabilities of November victory as predicted by the Betfair betting market shortly BEFORE the shooting incident, followed by numbers several hours AFTER, followed by the latest numbers.

Betfair
Trump 61% --> 67½% --> 65½%
Biden 13½% --> 14% ---> 9½%
Harris 12% ---> 8% ----> 16½%

Similar, but for the Polymarket betting market:
Polymarket
Trump 60% --> 70% --> 65%
Biden 19% --> 18% --> 13%
Harris 12% ---> 6% --> 16%

Roller-coaster ride for Harris?

Polymarket and Betfair each show about a 6% chance the WH will be won by a Democrat other than Biden or Harris.

Nothing says "economic ignorance" like promising to end inflation. :rolleyes:

But hey! Other than deportees, gangs, cartels, pro-Hamas radicals, promoters of "inappropriate political content" and, uh... "other offenders" (we'll tell you later),
EVERYONE GETS A PONY!!!
Even those who don't want a pony?

Brandon has Covid

President Joe Biden posted a bizarre tweet saying 'I'm sick' shortly after testing positive for COVID, leaving America guessing as to the seriousness of his condition.
Three minutes later, he added: 'of Elon Musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election.' He then asked for money to help 'defeat Trump'. The confusing posts came as Biden, 81, was forced to cancel a speech in Las Vegas while trying to fight back against widespread calls for him to drop out of the race.

The Billionaires Have Captured Donald Trump | The New Republic
One of the most enduring—and ridiculous—#Resistance narratives of the Trump era was the idea that the president of the United States was a literal Manchurian Candidate, a man who had been compromised for years (perhaps even decades) by a foreign power, namely Russia.

Like most enduring conspiracy theories, this one was built on a kernel of truth. Donald Trump really was admiring of Vladimir Putin and had no apparent problem with the Russian dictator arresting dissidents or invading neighbors. In fact, Trump was far more conciliatory to Russia, a long-standing adversary, than he was to many of America’s closest allies.
Though there is not much evidence that he has been compromised by Russia or some other foreign power, but he has become willing to compromise himself in another way.
Desperate to avoid prison—and needing cash to win reelection, so he can pardon himself—Trump is selling his administration’s domestic and foreign policy to the highest bidder. It’s hardly a conspiracy, either. As we speak, he is traveling from billionaire to billionaire with hat in hand, making explicit promises to sell his presidency.
He wants the money because he has been spending a lot of campaign money on his legal bills. He also wants to be able to stop two cases against him and to pardon himself and various suspected co-conspirators.

In recent weeks, one strategy for raising money has become clear: Trump is going to wealthy donors and interest groups and offering to cede policymaking to them—in exchange for massive campaign contributions. Last month, The Washington Post reported that Trump gathered oil executives at Mar-a-Lago and made a pitch: For the low cost of $1 billion, he would, as president “reverse dozens of President Biden’s environmental rules and policies and stop new ones from being enacted.” The pitch reportedly “stunned several of the executives in the room.”
Trump seeks $1 billion from oil CEOs, vows to limit EVs - The Washington Post - May 9, 2024 at 1:54 p.m. EDT - "Donald Trump has pledged to scrap President Biden’s policies on electric vehicles and wind energy, as well as other initiatives opposed by the fossil fuel industry."

During his first campaign, he bragged that he was so rich that he was incorruptible. But here he is, offering a quid pro quo, a what for what.

Trump makes more promises to oil industry campaign donors - The Washington Post - May 23, 2024 at 4:32 p.m. EDT - "The pledges to oil executives came a day before Senate Democrats launched a probe of Trump seeking $1 billion in donations from the oil industry. "
He reportedly ended his speech by saying, “Be generous, please,” and was rewarded with more than $25 million in donations.
