The Second Debate Thread

Trump's doing much better. His answers are as incoherent as ever, but he's acting in more in control, more presidential (for Trump).

I predict a tie or Trump victory. He got in more zingers this time.

Trump lies again. He didn't tweet at 3:00 to look up the "sex tape". Well, he did. The fact checkers are going to have field day.

One of the better Freudian slips I've seen recently. ;)

Oh, and he tweeted about the sex tape at 5 AM. I think that the 3 AM tweet was to complain about the press.

He's asked about USSC appointments, and he is bragging about his money

What a fucking asshole. We cannot have this Cheeto for President

His comments tended not to answer the question at hand. He was challenged several times by the moderators in that regard.

I didn't catch who is commenting at the moment, but whoever it is just said what I want to hear: that Trump sucked, but did just well enough to stave off a complete GOP meltdown tomorrow.

I want him in the race. I just want it to be limping from far behind, not out of the race altogether.

This wasn't quite as nasty as I expected. But neither side knocked the other out. But I don't think it will change minds. But it could have been a disaster for Trump, and he didn't quite go over the cliff.

Well, I don't think that Trump did as bad as the first debate but I don't think that he did anything to stop the GOP from dumping him tomorrow.

Also, his answer that he didn't ever assault women is going to get played over and over alongside a lot of women saying that he did that. The next tape reveal later this week will be a big one.

I'm curious, why would you not want him out completely? They can't get rid of him as a candidate now.

I think it's because he's a fucking loser idiot and having him in the race is the best thing ever for his opponents.

Hate to say it, but I totally agree with what Trump is *saying* regarding Syria and Russia. No reason for us to be arming "rebels" and toppling Assad is crazy. Indeed, it would have been in our interest to just let the Russians absorb all the blowback, but instead all the Cold Warrior era people making our policy can't let that happen.

As much as I've been let down by Obama in a lot of ways, I'm glad I voted for him. In my eyes, there could be no better endorsement of his decisions than that letter of dissent from 51 state-department members.

They gave life to the Trump campaign, and the should be required to bring it to term

I don't think Donald knows anything about Syria except to say Obama and HRC are terrible and he's great and knows more than the generals.

If he's consistent, he should've said that we support Assad and the Russians retaking Aleppo. But he can never get specific cuz he doesn't' know what he's talking about.

The rebels are toxic, and having supported arming them doesn't make Clinton look good.

Arming the Kurds is a good idea, and the single best thing either of them said wrt Syria. We may have to keep the regime, but the Kurds could be leverage to get rid of Assad.

I think the debate will be viewed by the public as a draw. Clinton did well and won.

However, I think Trump wins out the most, I think he may benefit the things if people talk about this night instead of the past week. However, there was something important and we'll see if the press caught it, Donald Trump did not deny sexually assaulting women. Also he lost his cool by asking why Anderson didn't ask about emails.

Something to take into account was Trump was all over the place talking about anything with any question and roaming a lot. So people may take that negatively, but I doubt it. They don't understand Syria. We'll see. Clinton didn't attack too hard, I think she'll let others do it this week.

Noticed at debate end, Trump met his wife (for the moment), touched her hips, no hug.

Trump didn't do as bad as the first debate - at least in appearance. He said some ridiculous things like minimizing his comments on the tape, threatening to put his opponent in jail, not knowing anything about Russia, stating that he took nearly a billion dollars in deductions for his Casino operations (although legal, it shows he didn't effectively run his business), disagreeing with his running mate on Syria, wanting another Scalia on the court, failing to answer the questions being asked, continuing to snort, whining, and constant interruptions. OK, he interrupted less than the first debate.

There was one other moment that stood out, but may be too vague for people to get... his statement on military reports on Mosul. He had no idea why the military would put such information into the public sphere. I think this underscores what a novice this guy is for foreign policy. Even the moderator was "WTF?!"

He evaded the question but when pressed the third or so time I'm pretty sure he said that he did not do it. The press and blog-sphere will be all over it if he didn't.

Nothing new came out tonight so it isn't going to change anyone's mind. Anyone who hasn't made up their mind yet isn't going to be convinced either way, either.
