Trump and neocons started War with Iran in order to win elections?

So you anticipate the Quds Force is going to attack the US? Will it be drone bombing of US cities with no boots on the ground? Will they land troops in the US?

Dude: wake up. Are you not petrified of the intercontinental scuds hitting the US?!!

Oh I know, it keeps me shaking in my boots. Any day now Iran will launch a Normandy-style invasion in Virginia and march to Washington. Then we'll all be placed under Shia rule.

Cool. Finally, we Democrats will be able to implement our Gay Muslim Agenda.

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "Iran is talking very boldly about targeting certain USA assets as revenge for our ridding the world of their terrorist leader who had just killed an American, & badly wounded many others, not to mention all of the people he had killed over his lifetime, including recently...." / Twitter

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "....hundreds of Iranian protesters. He was already attacking our Embassy, and preparing for additional hits in other locations. Iran has been nothing but problems for many years. Let this serve as a WARNING that if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets, we have....." / Twitter

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "....targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture, and those targets, and Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD. The USA wants no more threats!" / Twitter

Threatening to target and kill innocent families, women and children - which is what you’re doing by targeting cultural sites - does not make you a “tough guy.”
It does not make you “strategic.”
It makes you a monster. https://t.co/IjkNO8BD07" / Twitter

Yea, it's real simple, let's pull all US soldiers out of the Mid east. Pull out of the Shia-Sunni civil war. Then the Iranian problem will be someone else's problem. We don't need their oil.

Ilhan Omar on Twitter: "They’re going to accuse anyone who cautions against war of “siding with our enemies” or “supporting terrorists.”
This is the exact rhetoric that got us into the War in Iraq.
Don’t fall for it." / Twitter

Iran would not be so stupid as to immediately attack in retaliation. They will start sending arms to Iraqi Shiite militias. War by Proxy. Send more material to Hezbollah and other proxy forces. Try to drive wedges between the US and allies, Trump out of control. This will subtle, and Iran will play a long game for its revenge. No big fire. Lots of little fires.

And they aren't doing this already?

Their meaningful options are what they've already been doing. The only way they could escalate is by closing the Straight of Hormuz and while they obviously want that they don't want the world upset with them for doing it.

And His Flatulence might respond by: Oil weapon? Ok, Iranian oil infrastructure is to be considered military targets. Fire Tomahawks. I don't think it would take very many before they backed down.

Will ISIS come back stronger and destabilize Syria again? Israel wants that land.

Yea, I'm sorry to say that I stopped trying to understand repoman's posts a long time ago!

Something about da joos being bad.

I get that, but don't understand what that has to with Trump's attack furthering Russian interests. Nothing I guess.

Russia would love to have us in a proxy war with Iran. Deplete so much more of our resources and treasure, divide us even more so politically, make their oil more valuable, and sell weapons to Iran.

Ilhan Omar on Twitter: "Trump and his followers will just say our allies are siding with our enemies.

US allies' response to Trump Iran attack shows him alone on world stage - Business Insider
  • The US's European allies on Friday warned against further escalation with Iran after President Donald Trump ordered the assassination of Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
  • The UK said that further conflict "is in none of our interests."
  • Germany also warned of a "dangerous escalation."
  • The US government decided to go ahead with the airstrike late Thursday without informing its European partners, which angered some allies, BuzzFeed News reported.
  • "The purpose of having allies is that we can surprise our enemies and not each other," Tom Tugendhat, the chairman of the UK Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, told the BBC.

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE....." / Twitter

Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "....IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY! We went to war under a false & now disproven premise, WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. There were NONE! Now we are slowly & carefully bringing our great soldiers & military home. Our focus is on the BIG PICTURE! THE USA IS GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!" / Twitter
He seems like someone very impulsive. He's not fit for the Presidency.

Someone did a psychological profile of he and Hillary Clinton using the words in their speeches, and he turned out very low on conscientiousness, a combination of diligence and orderliness, though sometimes treated as mainly diligence. People with academic and/or career success tend to be high in c'ness, as one might expect, and most of the presidents are likewise high in c'ness. Of recent presidents, Barack Obama was high in c'ness, though Ronald Reagan was low in it, and Bill Clinton and George Bush Ii were likely also low in it. Of other politicians, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are all high in c'ness.

So Trump's low c'ness is anomalous.

Tulsi Gabbard 🌺 on Twitter: "We need to get out of Iraq and Syria now. That is the only way that we're going to prevent ourselves from being dragged into this quagmire, deeper and deeper into a war with Iran. #StandWithTulsi #TulsiWasRight https://t.co/z8FYsSRJBl" / Twitter

Exactly.

I doubt there is going to be a clear military response from Iran. What's going to happen is that now that Iraq has requested US (and by extension, all of its allies) troops to leave the country, Iraq will be left at the mercy of the mostly Shiite militias. The popular protests against the Iraqi government and the Iranian influence thereof will be suppressed and replaced by Iranian-machinated "mourners". Iraq will basically become the next Lebanon.

Second, if Iran was not going to get nukes before (I think it's possible they were aiming only for breakaway capability), it certainly will now.

I think your cart has gotten ahead of the horse, though the above would be plausible if the west is kicked out. The Kurdish Iraqi's don't want the US out; and the Sunni Iraqi's are a mixed lot; but though they may not like the US presence they certainly don't like the big Shia Iranian presence. A very messy place...

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020...expulsion-foreign-troops-200105150709628.html
Iraq's parliament has passed a resolution calling on the government to expel foreign troops from the country as Iran-US tensions escalate following the killing of a top Iranian military commander and Iraqi armed group leader in a US strike in Baghdad.
<snip>
Parliament resolutions, unlike laws, are non-binding and the move would require new legislation to cancel the existing agreement.
Iraq is stuck between a US 800 lb gorilla and the Iranian 200 lb gorilla, and they are just a chimpanzee...

I think THIS article makes good sense, which means of course that this administration will completely ignore it, accuse it's opposition of whatever it is currently planning, and then bungle it hopelessly. This is why you don't have a man with a 70 IQ as president. Especially one in current mental decline and psychologically unfit as well.

HOUSTON -- Two years before the September 11 attacks, presidential candidate George W. Bush was already talking privately about the political benefits of attacking Iraq, according to his former ghost writer, who held many conversations with then-Texas Governor Bush in preparation for a planned autobiography.
"He was thinking about invading Iraq in 1999," said author and journalist Mickey Herskowitz. "It was on his mind. He said to me: 'One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief.' And he said, 'My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it.' He said, 'If I have a chance to invade...if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency."

There were plenty of Neocon "thinkers" trying to egg on US presidents to start wars in the Middle east, starting with attempts to get Bill Clinton on board with that. They put Bush up to it and Bush bit and invaded Iraq. You can bet the same neocon fools have been trying to egg on and manipulate Trump.

General Wesley Clark

So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” And he said, “Oh, it’s worse than that.” He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, “I just got this down from upstairs” — meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office — “today.” And he said, “This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.” I said, “Is it classified?” He said, “Yes, sir.” I said, “Well, don’t show it to me.” And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, “You remember that?” He said, “Sir, I didn’t show you that memo! I didn’t show it to you!”".

AMY GOODMAN: I’m sorry. What did you say his name was?
GEN. WESLEY CLARK: I’m not going to give you his name.
