DeSantis Flies Immigrants to Martha Vineyard

Well played DeSantis, exposing the gross hypocrisy of the wokesters. So much clutching at pearls :hysterical:
Can you explain the hypocrisy and pearl clutching you see on the left?

How about the hypocrisy of people proclaiming to have Christian beliefs and values yet treat immigrants like shit, something the Bible addresses in numerous places to NOT do.

Did they have a choice to stay or go? This isn't a hard question, dude.
Likely didn't have much choice. They were sent to a base in main-ish land Cape Cod instead of on Martha's Vineyard. They will be further tended to at Joint Base as the human beings they are, instead of being put on a plane and abandoned at DeSantis's doorstep.

And yes, the "big, beautiful" wall that Mexico was going to pay for. By now it should be dawning on you that Trump would simply say anything if it got him fame, money, and endless praise. He was likely telling aides "did you hear that? They were chanting lock her up! They love me!" and then he'd demand a hamburger*

Wow. I bet DeSantis's Republican cronies got extra hard erections at the offer of getting paid to enact cruelty on brown people.

Woah. Martha's Vinyard is a shithole? Who knew?
No one knows that. No one said anything that could even be remotely interpreted as even implying Martha'v vinyard is a shithole.

The point is that that misleading people with lies in order to displace them in order to score some political points with a voting demographic is cruel. I truly feel sorry for people who cannot grasp such a basic concept.

Those people were abandoned by the heads of the Government in Texas and Florida. Not metaphorically, but literally.

It is utterly repugnant that people think this is in any way defensible. There are areas that ship immigrants up to the North... but they call first, those people are expected, and they are taken care of. These Venezuelan immigrants were simply left at the doorstep, as the Texas and Florida governments floored the accelerator and drove off laughing.

Woah. Martha's Vinyard is a shithole? Who knew?

Anyone who has ever been stranded there with no money and no resources.
(Me, as a homeless teen for one.)
IOW, not "Oleg", who has never been there or he would know it's not an easy place to survive outsode with no food or shelter.
You should try it some time, "Oleg".
It might bestow some shred of humanity upon you.

Popular Information has obtained documentary evidence that migrants from Venezuela were provided with false information to convince them to board flights chartered by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). The documents suggest that the flights were not just a callous political stunt but potentially a crime.

... But many of the migrants told reporters that they were misled about the nature of the flights. Several migrants told NPR they were told the flight was going to Boston, not Martha's Vineyard. According to the migrants, a woman who identified herself as Perla also said that, if they traveled to Boston, they could receive "expedited work papers."
Seems like fraud. However, "DeSantis has been adamant that the migrants were not misled."
Popular Information, however, has obtained a brochure that was provided to the migrants who ultimately agreed to the flights. It was provided to Popular Information by Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR), a Boston-based legal organization that represents 30 of the migrants. The brochure says that migrants who arrive in Massachusetts will be eligible for numerous benefits, including "8 months cash assistance," "assistance with housing," "food," "clothing," "transportation to job interviews," "job training," "job placement," "registering children for school," "assistance applying for Social Security cards," and many other benefits.

None of this, however, is true.

...
The brochure, which is crudely designed to resemble a government document, does not explain that these benefits described are only available to specially designated refugees.

According to some of the migrants, the benefits described in the brochure were also promised verbally by Perla to lure them onto the planes chartered by DeSantis. “[T]hey told us that they were going to help us with the rent, to get a job, that was the only option left to us,” one migrant, Eduardo Linares, told the Texas Tribune. (Linares ultimately declined to board the flight.)
The brochure - regardless of who made it - clearly states in English and Spanish that it is for refugees. And the programs listed are legit.

The legitimacy of the brochure is not in question. Its use as a means of luring asylum seekers onto an aircraft with false promises is at issue. The victims were first told that they were going to Boston, but they were told during the flight that they were going to Martha's Vineyard. When the plane landed, the people who had lured them onto the plane disappeared. This is why:

Lawyers representing migrants dumped on Martha's Vineyard want Florida Gov. DeSantis criminally investigated over the 'stunt'

DeSantis himself, like Trump, is essentially above the law, but they can go after the people his administration hired to carry out the fraud.
So was this illegal or not? Is there a federal law that says illegals can not be transported across state lines? And if so, what would be the purpose of such a law? To cut down on human slave trading?

This was obviously a political stunt. But why couldn't DeSantis just use the same kind of excuses the Democrats would use. Why doesn't he make the claim he is attempting to bring diversity to Martha's Vineyard? Of all the possible places, Martha's Vineyard is probably the best place for refugees as far as service and funds that could be made available. Most of the homes of Martha's Vineyard are only 2nd vacation residences of the ultra elite who would be in a position to more than afford to help refugees if they wanted to loan out their property. After how we saw they reacted.... I guess these people are really not so commpassionate after all. DeSantis was right about them.
First of all, the migrants DeSantis sent to Martha's Vineyard aren't illegals. They followed proper channels when they reported to the nearest immigration office upon entry to this country and requested legal immigration status, something they were granted on a temporary basis while their applications are being processed.

If they had been illegals the the laws against human trafficking would definitely apply. Since they are migrants who were deliberately misled for political gain, the laws against kidnapping apply while the human trafficking laws might not. Either way, there is convincing evidence De Santis knowingly and deliberately committed a crime. I hope the rule of law is upheld and De Santis will be arrested and prosecuted.

The residents of Martha's Vineyard provided food, shelter, help with legal matters, etc. to the needy on extremely short notice. They should be lauded, especially by those who call themselves Christians, but probably won't be by anyone who would vote for De Santis.

"YOU DIDN'T EVEN COME TO FLORIDA, BUT I TOOK YOU IN AND THEN SPENT MY STATE'S TAX DOLLARS TO FUCK YOU OVER AND LAUGH ABOUT IT. NOW I HAVE TO PAY MORE TAX DOLLARS FOR LAWYERS TO DEFEND AGAINST POSSIBLE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY AND CIVIL SUITS. I THINK THIS IS ALL FUNNY. FUCK EVERYONE."

What a nasty fantasy. That might be how some on this forum would react, but clearly it is not what happened on Martha's Vineyard.

The migrants were provided with food, shelter, and access to legal assistance as soon as the locals understood the need to provide those things. The State and the Feds then stepped in to undo as much of DeSantis' fuckery as they could, which included moving the migrants to a place where they could live close to an immigration center while their applications are processed (as they are required to do) and their legal options are explored. It was both legally appropriate and personally helpful to them, unlike how they were treated by Abbot and DeSantis.

I have to ask - what do you think Martha's Vineyard is, a gated community of mansions with rich people strolling around in ascots and mink coats, spitting on poor people? Or is this fantasy of yours based on the notion that liberals don't really mean it when they talk about treating people with respect and not just fucking them over for fun and profit?

A quick check on the weather shows a low of 47 degrees and 21 mph wind, giving an effective 40 degrees. That's hypothermia territory.

Migrants said they were booked on a canceled DeSantis flight to Delaware, undercutting his claim that it was a prank

A group of six Venezuelan asylum seekers staying in San Antonio, Texas, told The Herald they had agreed to board a flight to Delaware early on Tuesday, September 20.

They said they were told by a woman that there were better job opportunities there, a story similar to that told by a group of 48 migrants flow to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, under apparently false pretenses.

They were put up in a hotel for the night but right before they were to head to the airport they were told the flight was cancelled.

Apparently we're supposed to believe DeSantis is paying for hotel rooms in Texas and for planes to fly empty from San Antonio to the East Coast in order to "punk" the media.

DeSantis - paying? No more than Mangoman is paying for ... anything.
Taxpayers (DeSantis' rubes) are paying.

Hypocrisy with a dose of racism thrown in for good measure. "Send them back to Africa" - where have we heard that before? Derec is anything but subtle.
Rwanda was used as an example because of a real plan in Europe.
Just because there is an African country mentioned, does not make it "racism".
By itself, perhaps not. But in the context of a wider picture where you habitually attempt to dehumanize black people ... it doesn't take an expert to understand what you are talking about when you say "Send them back to Africa". There is nothing subtle about the prejudice in your posts.
Who are you quoting? Ah, I see, you're quoting yourself.

Derec did not say "Send them back to Africa". And he quite transparently did not mean "Send them back to Africa", since he was talking not about black people at all but about immigrants from Latin America. So they could be sent but they could not be sent "back". So when you said he says "Send them back to Africa", that was an invention. Whatever point you're trying to make, if you find you can't make it without resorting to strawman arguments you might want to rethink whether you have a point.
