Another Fucking Mass Shooting At US School

Lest Derec scoff at the lack of a ballistics report to identify the weapon, here is a picture of it:

Thanks goodness there was an officer there that appears to have kept a tragedy from becoming a statistic. Unfortunately an officer isn't capable of shooting a mass murderer until after the mass murder occurs.

Nothing about the shooter, weapon, or other details.
I would bet, based upon
the number of dead--9 people, two in the hospital
… it was an AR15 or similar. That kill ratio would require an expert with any other kind of weapon.

They have a short video taken from outside the mall that recorded the gunfire. They counted 24 shots within just a few seconds of video clip. This is Texas, where open carry laws supposedly create an armed citizenry that could respond and save the day. Instead, an armed officer wearing nothing like the shooter's tactical gear showed up without an assault weapon and managed to end the shooting spree with his own weapon--presumably a handgun. He did what he was trained to do, and that must have taken tremendous courage in the face of a killer in tactical combat gear with an assault rifle. We in America pay a huge price for the boneheadedly stupid policies imposed on us by Second Amendment extremism and the gun manufacturing lobbyists.

No shit! Lucky to have even a few guys like that, at the rate they're paid.
Cops should get Doctor pay, and Doctor (almost) training.

Half of Congress will have to cancel their vacation reservations and go downscale if the lobbyists run out of grease. Can't let that happen!

The shooter was, apparently, another violence prone rightwing fanatic hopped up on neo-Nazi and white supremacist hatred.

What we know about the slain Texas mall massacre suspect Mauricio Garcia

Meanwhile, clueless Governor Greg Abbott, who has been working tirelessly to make guns in Texas easily available to everyone, has identified "anger and violence" as the root cause of all the shootings. He wants “to get guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals and to increase penalties for criminals who possess guns.” So we must rely on beefed up mental health services to solve the problem. The fiscally responsible governor thinks that throwing billions of dollars in that direction will help, adding that his state has committed $25 billion to do just that. So, lots of guns for everyone, but deploy mental health workers to the front lines. Now, all we need to do is train more health care professionals, since we don't have enough of them right now. He admits that it is a "long term solution", but he is patient. No suggestions for doing anything in the short term, except getting more guns in the hands of good people to offset the ones in the hands of bad people. That and prayers.

Texas Gov. Abbott calls for addressing mental health issues in wake of Texas mass shooting

Remember, Abbott recently signed a budget cutting mental health care in Texas by $177 millions. Abbott is part of the problem. Abbott signed laws maklng it easier to get and carry guns.

Facts ab9ut this moron shooter.

....
The man who shot multiple people at an Allen, Texas mall on Saturday, killing at least eight, served with the U.S. Army in 2008 and “was removed due to mental health concerns,” according to an FBI bulletin reviewed by Rolling Stone.

The FBI’s “review and triage of the subject’s social media accounts revealed hundreds of postings and images to include writings with racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist rhetoric, including neo-Nazi materials and material espousing the supremacy of the white race.”
....

How did this bastard get a small arsenal?

Yes.

Back to our shooter. According to Rolling Stone, he was also an incel.

Regrettably that is true. The police will always be reactive.
Don't want the police shooting first and asking questions later.

Oh wait. Your cops already seem to do that now.

A name like Mauricio Garcia does not immediately sound like a "white" name.
Have not seen a picture of him so cannot see skin colour.
Why then is it it described as "white supremacist" thinking?
Seems like "I hate anyone" thinking.

Why do you yanks hate each other so much?

What is saddening upon reading the article is the comment that this is the 2nd deadly mass shooting in the US this year and it is not even June.

We don't hate each other any more than Australians hate each other. You can look it up:  Far-right politics in Australia. But I suspect you knew that. If you arm them better, I'm sure you'll find that they can be just as dangerous as hate-inspired Americans. It's all the guns, not the amount of hatred.

I think you meant to say that it was the 2nd deadly mass shooting in Texas in the past week. We have been averaging more than one mass shooting per day in 2023. Right now, we are at roughly 200 for the year. But it's a lovely country, and you probably won't be killed if you care to visit. I haven't been shot yet, and I go out shopping a lot. Visit Texas. I wouldn't be surprised if you could rent a gun at the airport to carry around for self defense or whatever.

I might be wrong but I think it’s cheaper to buy a loaded one from one of the vending machines on all the street corners.

Because his skin color isn't what suggests white supremacist thinking, whatever that might be. Plenty of white people do not harbor a white supremacist agenda. But generally only people who harbor a white supremacist agenda belong to Neo-Nazi groups, publish neo-Nazi propaganda on social media, and carry white supremacist paraphernalia on their person. Did you even read the article?

The first cop describing the guy on the radio said he was white or hispanic. Some hispanics do have fairly white skin.

This guy was booted from the army for mental instability. He has been posting on various right winged social sites. He was a violent incel and neo-Nazi. It is not like he was a logical, reasoning, rational person.

While the investigation remains ongoing and authorities have not zeroed in on a specific motive, the source said the deceased shooter was found with an insignia on his clothing that read "RWDS," which authorities believe may stand for "Right Wing Death Squad."

As the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that monitors and reports on extremism, has noted in the past, some members of extremist groups have been seen in recent years with patches bearing the same letters.

Investigators have also uncovered the gunman's extensive social media presence, the law enforcement source tells CNN. It includes neo-Nazi and White supremacist-related posts, and images that authorities believe he shared online, according to the official.

Yes I did. There was not a picture of the shooter.
Generally speaking white supremacists are "white" skinned. If a person is "non-white" then it is puzzling to ascribe "white supremacist" motives to them. More likely they just hate everyone. There must be a term for that thinking but I cannot recall it.
