Merged So what's next for Trump?

We have plenty of room up here in Alaska for 4-5 of those 'Freedom Cities', with plenty of water and natural resources, too. I have no idea what we would manufacture in our 'hives' but we can figure that out later, right?

If Trump and his supporters want to get working on that 'baby bonus' thing, the first step is universal health care (not universal health insurance because that shit's too expensive). Let me know when enough Republicans get on board to make it a reality.

Today Trump is supposed to officially announce his Utopian plans at CPAC. I hope it works better than past Trump business plans. This is going to be comedy gold for late night show comedians.

Meanwhile, a mean old judge has slapped down Trump's lawyers motions to allow Trump to claim presidential immunity for all actions that occured during his administration. Opening Trump up to dozens of lawsuits.

Trump plans our glorious future.

In a video set to be released on Friday, Trump will call for a “quantum leap” in the American standard of living.
Trump’s plan, shared in advance with POLITICO, calls for holding a contest to design and create up to ten new “Freedom Cities,” built from the ground up on federal land. It proposes an investment in the development of vertical-takeoff-and-landing vehicles; the creation of “hives of industry” sparked by cutting off imports from China; and a population surge sparked by “baby bonuses” to encourage would-be-parents to get on with procreation.

California City, anyone?

It's the same shtick these televangelists use. Send me your money and we'll build paradise. Lotsa clueless loons will probably cough up dough. I always liked what Emma Lazarus had to say along those lines but I'm not expecting anything like that from Orange Dum Dum.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office recently signaled to Donald J. Trump’s lawyers that he could face criminal charges for his role in the payment of hush money to a porn star, the strongest indication yet that prosecutors are nearing an indictment of the former president, according to four people with knowledge of the matter.

The prosecutors offered Mr. Trump the chance to testify next week before the grand jury that has been hearing evidence in the potential case, the people said. Such offers almost always indicate an indictment is close; it would be unusual for the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, to notify a potential defendant without ultimately seeking charges against him.

In New York, potential defendants have the right to answer questions in the grand jury before they are indicted, but they rarely testify, and Mr. Trump is likely to decline the offer. His lawyers could also meet privately with the prosecutors in hopes of fending off criminal charges.

Jeffrey Epstein said in an unaired interview that he distanced himself from former President Donald Trump after realizing Trump was "a crook," according to his brother, Mark Epstein.
Mark Epstein told Insider he viewed a clip of the interview, conducted by Trump's former White House advisor Steve Bannon, after his brother forwarded it to him in the spring of 2019.
At the time, Bannon was conducting filmed interviews with the now-dead pedophile financier. Bannon sent Jeffrey Epstein a Dropbox link to a clip, which he forwarded to his brother. The link is no longer active, according to Mark.
"Jeffrey showed me the link to one of these interviews," Mark Epstein said. "And in that interview, Jeffrey said he stopped hanging out with Trump when he realized Trump was a crook."

Trump busted again. Trump lawyers scheduled two court appearances on the same
And then demanded judges in both courts cancel their court a]ointments each to delay proceedings. And got ratted out.

Birds got to fly; Criminals got to commit crimes. Blaming Trump for rapes and frauds is like blaming the crocodile for biting off your hand. He's just following his nature.

But stories like this infuriate me. NO, the lawyers don't bother me: They're just ugly criminals like Trump and the crocodile. It's the judges and prosecutors I want to have words with.

WHY weren't these lawyers immediately disbarred? Or at least sentenced to 30 days in jail for contempt?
Scumbag Trump lawyers have swamped the system. Have ANY of them been properly punished?

I am a bit concerned that all of these law suits will simply get the MAGA crowd worked up, making them even more loyal to their crazy cult leader. I hope I'm wrong but the Trump cult isn't rational and instead of realizing that dear leader is a crook, the lawsuits may be a way for Trump to gather even more support. If a lot of Republicans stay in the presidential race, it means it's more likely that Trump will be the Republican nominee. We've seen this happen before and sadly, it could happen again. Our only hope is that people who lean Democratic get out and vote.

I think that is a baseless fear. Yeah it might further entrench the idiot sector, but it isn’t going to make Trump any new friends. Some of his former supporters are getting tired of his drama llama bullshit, and that factor is going to go through the roof.
I’m hoping Trump gets the Q nomination; this will be the most lackluster campaign EVER, as only a fraction of Republicans are at all excited about another go-round of Trump’s Stoopid. He can’t debate, his whole schtick is stale, and he is too insipid to come up with anything new. Watch him lose again, even biglier than last time. Not even all his billionaire buddies can cheat him into office this time

I agree this won't bring in any new supporters, but it might motivate the MAGA crowd to be more motivated to vote. I'm not losing sleep over this, I've just seen how the Trump cult reacts when Trump is criticized or threatened with inditement etc. Who will be the Republican candidate, if it's not Trump? I agree with you that it's unlikely that Trump would be able to win the presidency, but you're looking at it from a rational perspective. Trump's supporters as well as a large percentage of Republicans aren't rational. There are still a lot of people who will only vote for the Republican nominee, even if they have to hold their nose and do it. I suspect a few of my neighbors fall into that category.

I read this morning that the more progressive Democrats are all bent out of shape because Biden said he will sign the crime bill that was supported by more Republicans than Democrats. Regardless if I agree with the bill or not, I think this was a wise decision. Otherwise, he will be targeted as being soft on crime. I don't know the details of the bill, but from what I've read, it included increasing sentences for violent crimes. I doubt most Americans have a problem with that. Regardless, I never base my vote on a few things that I might oppose. Imo, no matter how bad a Democratic candidate might be, the alternative is always much worse. So, I always vote for the Democratic candidates, even if I disagree with some of their positions.

If the more progressive branch of the Democratic Party doesn't vote for the Democratic candidate, which will likely be Biden unless something drastically changes, we could end up with Trump. The crook has gotten away with so much over the course of his lifetime. Most of us who knew about his history never thought it was possible for him to be elected president, but we were wrong. A lot could happen before the next election and it's rather sad that Americans have to constantly dwell on the next election, but unfortunately, that's the culture of the US.

I do wish that Georgia would indite Trump as that crime is more important than paying off a porn star to keep quiet. There is plenty of evidence that Trump tried to overturn the Georgia election. It's recorded and we've all heard it. That would be a better way of prosecuting him. Still, like it or not, Trump has gotten away with many crimes during his life and most of his wealth has been due to grifting. It simply concerns me that Trump is getting so much attention.

From Vanity Fair

...
almost two years of near-silence, former Vice President Mike Pence is talking about the last days of Donald Trump's presidency; namely that Trump's words on January 6 were “reckless,” and “endangered” Pence and his family. Pence is currently on a media tour to promote his new book, So Help Me God, a memoir scheduled to be published on Tuesday—the same day Trump is expected to announce his third bid for the White House.
...

Hey, Mikey! It took you almost two years to admit the truth? Mike Pence, a decisive man of action.
