Merged So what's next for Trump?

To denote when two or more threads have been merged
A lawyer from Palm Beach County has filed one of the first legal challenges to disqualify Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential race under a clause in the U.S. Constitution's 14th Amendment.

Boynton Beach tax attorney Lawrence Caplan filed the challenge in federal court in the Southern District of Florida citing the amendment's "disqualification clause" for those who engage in insurrections and rebellion against the United States. The amendment was ratified in 1868 after the Civil War, during Reconstruction, and also addressed the citizenship status of freed slaves and the re-integration of the defeated Confederate states back into the Union.

Applying the 14th Amendment's disqualification rule to Trump has been a rising talking point this month. Legal scholars, including from conservative corners, have advocated for it. And state elections officials have conceded they are having discussions about how they would respond if a challenge is lodged.
snowball's chance in hell

The problem is that might happen in blue states like California, whichnTrump will not win anyway. What matters if ifvTrump gets disqualified in a few big red states, or important purplecred states. Already, at least one judge has dismissed a challenge because of "lack of standing".

Not sure where to put this, but Trump's deposition* has been unsealed.

For nearly seven hours, lawyers with the New York attorney general’s office grilled Trump over his company’s business practices and his children’s roles within the Trump Organization. When asked about how his position changed within the Trump Organization when elected president, Trump said he was “very busy” and considered the presidency “the most important job in the world, saving millions of lives.”

“I think you would have nuclear holocaust, if I didn’t deal with North Korea,” Trump said. “I think you would have a nuclear war, if I weren’t elected. And I think you might have a nuclear war now, if you want to know the truth.”

See? Trump's allowed to crime because he's so busy saving the world from nuclear holocaust.

*The New York one, not the porn star one, not the E Jean Carroll one. The financial fraud one. Sorry, I forgot you had to clarify these days when it comes to Trump and crime.

Someone should create a code for each indictment. Say, T-1, T-2, etc.

"Deal with North Korea"? When he signed a BS agreement intending by the North Koreans to mean the US leaves South Korea? That dealing with North Korea?

Yep, that one. Because of that brilliant example of foreign policy, Trump can commit as much financial fraud as he wants. Do try to keep up. All the Q-tards picked up on that immediately.

Man, imagine what he'd been allowed to get away with if he actually accomplished something in his Presidency.

Who would have standing?

Who would have standing?

This was a most stupid judge in Florida. Who has standing? Apparently not a registered voter in Florida.

My thought too.

That doesn't prove dishonest behavior on the part of the lawyer. That could just be that His Flatulence won't pay the bills of someone who flips.
Uh, they flip after they get rid of their trumpy lawyers.
Or they get new lawyers because they know they'll lose theirs if they flip.
Uh, no. They know they’re going to flip so they switch lawyers. Because, all prior evidence to the contrary they are not so stupid as to not see their jeopardy in remaining ‘loyal’ to Trump. Lying under oath carries penalty, in addition to whatever penalty they will face if convicted of even one charge. And of course, they know that with Trump, loyalty runs in only one direction. And that he runs his mouth so indiscreetly that he is likely to throw them under the bus either accidentally or more likely, accidentally on purpose. Or because his outsized ego and narcissism will not allow him to believe that anything he does is not perfect and perfectly fine and in any case, no penalties will apply. To him. Who else matters??

I think (suspect) they suspect that flipping could be in their best interest and seek “independent” counsel for an opinion. If that lawyer told them not to flip they probably wouldn’t. Of course there is probably some weight to the threat that if you flip, a faux billionaire with considerable influence will evermore try their best to wreck your life … but if they’re willing to endure that …

I think we have a communication problem as you seem to be arguing against me with basically my argument.
